Richard strode into his classroom. He was excited for his first day of class. He had some special stuff planned that the students will most likely never see coming. It would be an interesting class and he couldn't wait for the students to arrive.

Richard walked up to his desk, but instead of standing in front of it or on the chair behind it, Richard climbed on top of the desk and sat cross legged. Okay so maybe the will suspect something, but not the the caliber in which he will be performing today. It wasn't ordinary for a professor to be sitting on his desk cross legged, but oh well it is a taste of his diverse personality.

He didn't exactly want to freak his students out and have them thinking he would be like this all the time, but he would warn them afterwards. He would not tolerate goofing off everyday, but some days it was just fine. He knew history could be boring and some days you just need a laugh.

Richard flicked his wand at the chalkboard and the rules and introduction of himself was slowly scrawled onto the board. He took a deep breathe and awaited the arrival of his students with a mischievous grin on his face.

"Hello, Professor."
Lucas was the first one there, not as usual. History class was always pretty boring, but he didn't know this new teacher so he wouldn't judge, yet. Still, he couldn't be too much fun if he was teaching history of all things. I mean, at least he wasn't a ghost that had once run this class and at least he didn't look old and boring. Lucas'd give it a chance.

((Sorry it's short, first one in here so not sure what else to say))

Tyson entered History of Magic a little gloomily. This class was always boring. The subject was just dull! No teacher could change that. Upon seeing the Professor sitting on his desk criss-cross, Tyson's eyebrows rose a bit. That wasn't something you saw very often or ever.

He smiled at the Professor nevertheless and said, "Good Morning Professor." Before heading over to where Lucas was and sitting down. He sat down in the seat next to him and said, "Hey Lucas. Ready for a nap?" He asked this very quietly so the professor wouldn't hear. The class was bound to be boring and put them to sleep.

Elizabeth Bower
6th Year - Ravenclaw

Elizabeth was somewhat out of breath on reaching the History classroom having battled through waves of students to arrive on time. She'd been too busy indulged in conversation with her French peer on the Hogwarts Grounds to take note of the time in which dismally past. Despite such panic, the Ravenclaw had successfully gathered the required necessities and had arrived on time, relieved to find only a couple of students awaiting her in the class, all of which were male and ridiculously stunning. It suddenly dawned upon her that the third man was, in fact, the Professor, though he sat upon the table in such a manner that he could easily have been mistaken for a rebellious student. Embarrassed to have felt remotely interested toward him, Elizabeth shuffled into the room, face flushed, breaths ragged. She settled herself at a table a mere distance away from the boys; close enough so not to be left out but far away enough to concentrate on her studies and generally not feel as though she were intruding.
"Good morning, Professor," she mumbled, nodding in his general direction whilst assembling her belongings onto the table. Having recently transferred to Hogwarts from Beuxbatons, she hoped to make a good first impression.

"Hiya, Tyson." Lucas said, brightening a bit to have someone who didn't hate him in this class. He seemed to be seeing too much Rhiannon and Caiden lately, so this was nice.

"Definitely." He mumbled so only Tyson could hear him. "History...not a duller subject."
History was by far the worst class. It was amazing how even goblin wars and the Battle of Hogwarts could sound dull when read in a monotone voice for an hour. He loved all his other classes, but history he'd always hated. His mom gave him huge history tests at home, he had the feeling it was just to annoy him, and at Hogwarts there was no exception. Of course, there weren't tests as often but it's not like they didn't have plenty of work. He'd never been this overloaded with information before, or learned this much in only two months.

Richard watched as three students walked into the classroom. He was a bit disappointed that more had not shown up yet. Of course, they probably didn't know class was up and running. No, they just didn't want to come to class. Alas, this generation has a great displeasure for the history of the world.

A mighty grin appeared on his face nevertheless and he exclaimed to the students that were here,
"Good Morning! I hope that you..." He suddenly stopped talking as if he lost his train of though and looked out the window for a minute before returning his attention to his students. "Are you all ready for an exciting year of History of Magic. I hope you are..." He abruptly stopped again and looked out into the hallway at the various students rushing past in the corridor. "I have some excellent lessons planned for this year!" He added as a last thought and grinned at the students.

He sprung off the desk and landed gracefully on the floor. Bounding toward the students he pulled out his wand and stopped in front of the nearest occupied seat. Bitt held up his wand and instantly the lights dimmed, and a bright light shone from his wand in Lucas' face. Playing the part of an investigative official he said,
"Please state your Name, Year and House." in a very official voice.

Lucas raised his eyebrows when the Professor just randomly stopped talking. Was he easily distracted or something? Then he did it again. Did he have mental health problems??? He looked at Tyson as if to say, What's up with him?
Really confusing. Anyways, a few seconds later, a bright wand was pointing in his face.

"Er...Lucas, 6th year Gryffindor." He said, a bit confused to say the least. Still, he'd play along. So far, at least the Professor wasn't being dull. Normally by now, Lucas would be bored to tears and fast asleep on his notebook. That's how most people were, so he wasn't quite sure if this was just to be silly as an introduction, or if that's how this Professor operated. After all, he doubted the Headmaster would let someone on who was easily distracted. Lucas smiled though after he stated his name, year and house, even if it was a bit of an awkward one.

Bobby Grimmjow - 3rd year Hufflepuff
Bobby lumbered into class. "Sorry for being..." He paused in the middle of his sentence when he noticed that the lights were dimmed and the professor was shinning a lit wand at a blonde boy. After a second he continued. "Sorry I'm late, I still get lost in the hall." After he finished he just went to a desk and sat down, a little confused at what was going on. He looked at the other students and noticed that Tyson was sitting beside the boy getting shone at. It looked like the boy was being interrogated. This was all strange for history.User Image

Elizabeth Bower
6th Year - Ravenclaw

Elizabeth was somewhat intrigued and amused by the Professor’s teaching methods. First he sat upon the table and now he played the formal detective. Still, perhaps it was in his nature to be odd; she wouldn’t know - being new had its disadvantages. The Professor's jumpy attitude was both annoying and engaging, enthusiasm so perfectly portrayed that the likelihood of sarcasm was made uncertain despite being obvious at the same time. Elizabeth wondered if she’d face the same ordeal as ‘Lucas’, whose sleepy eyes endured the light of the Professor’s wand. Such thought was cut short by a dismal interruption as a late presence of an overwhelming size entered the room and took a seat. Sighing, Elizabeth returned her attention to the occurrence between the Professor and blonde haired boy.

Richard was a bit amused by the reactions of the students, but he didn't break his act. "Ah of course! Bringer of light! I see I see..." He said and scribbled something into his notebook he was holding. "Sixth year. You'll be turning seventeen this year then. Wonderful Wonderful." He said a bit distracted again. He suddenly focused again and exclaimed, " And a Gryffindor! That's my house of course. Just took over position of head as well. Don't expect special treatment though. I..." He looked at the student entering as a distraction. "Favoritism is not my thing." He finished.

"Welcome to History of Magic you aren't late. I just got started a bit early." Richard said smiling at the boy. He walked up to him with his hands behind his back. He suddenly shone the light in the boys eyes and quickly said, "Please state your name, year, and house for myself and the class." Richard figured he was getting a bit annoying and less entertaining at this stage. He needed to step it up a bit. He just needed the opportune moment for his idea.

Bobby Grimmjow - 3rd year Hufflepuff
Bobby was glad to hear that he wasn't late for class. He started to relax when the professor walked up to him and shone the light into his eyes. He nervously cleared his throat. He was already in a position where people stared at him constantly but this just intensified it and made him extremely uncomfortable. "U-um, well. My name is Bobby Grimmjow, I'm a third year, and my house is Hufflepuff." His throat was feeling dry like sand paper by the time he finished and he hoped that the professor would move onto someone else soon.User Image

Fionna had just heard that the new History Professor had arrived and that he had started up class. Today was the first day and Fionna had almost gone into her normal routine of using it as a free period before she remembered and sprinted to the classroom. It was dark when she approached the room and wondered if she had been wrong but upon further inspection she found she was not.

She stood in the doorway for a moment looking at the scene before her. The Professor was shining his wand in the face of a student she had only seen and never met. He was half giant and likely didn't like having more attention put upon him by the Professor. Fionna slowly stepped into the classroom not really sure what to think of this professor. What was he doing? Interrogating Students? She decided to ask him. As she stood still near the front of the room she said, "What are you doing? Interrogating students?" She wanted to add 'I must have the wrong class. I wasn't aware we had a law enforcement class at Hogwarts.' but refrained from doing so because that was not something she would do.

Richard nodded at the boy as he spoke his answer and said, "Ah Bobby meaning bright fame. Very powerful name. I bet you are destined...." He was interrupted by the entrance of a beautiful blonde girl. He turned and faced her pocketing his wand and said, "Why yea. That's exactly what I am doing. Very observant Miss...." He paused to allow somebody or herself to fill in that blank, but he only gave them enough time to before he moved on.

He moved back to the front of the room and said,
"I guess we can move on. The rest of you can write your name, year, and house on a piece of parchment for me and then..." He looked down at his desk as if mesmerized by something on top of it. "You may turn it in at the end." He finished moving behind his desk and crouching down behind it so that nobody could see him.

A few moments later he popped back up and was holding a history textbook.
"Let us begin a lesson for today!" He exclaimed and flipped the book open to a random page clearing his throat. He held up a paperclip and said, "The paperclip was invented my a Norwegian man by the name of Johan Vaaler. He did so and received a patent in 1899 for his invention from Germany since Norway did not have patents at the time, and he later received an American patent in 1901. He was the first man to patent a paperclip design."Richard stopped and looked up from his book hiding the smile on his face with it.

"Paperclips?" He whispered to Fionna, sliding his seat over to her.
Well, Tyson was wrong, they weren't about to nap. He raised his eyebrows at Tyson and held back a huge laugh. He grinned and stopped smiling an instant later. He had no idea what this teacher was about, but it was great. Had the Headmaster seriously hired him? Was this some sort of joke? It had to be, no one could just stare at their desk like that and then give a short lecture on paperclips. He decided to be a bit daring and ask what the heck this guy was about.

"Er...Professor? This is history of magic...not office supplies...I thought, sorry if I'm mistaken. And you never actually introduced yourself to us...?"
