"I didn't look," he said, glowering at the doll before taking off again. "But I'm going to get one! It'll be awesome for when I accidentally slept in before class!" Accidentally, Roch? Suuuuure. He glanced over his shoulder, seeing red faced adults racing after them with rage in their eyes.
"Looks like they caught up," he called to his partner in crime. "Think we should ask how much they cost?"

Skating past the music aisle, Danny picked up a black, simple guitar. It wasn't the best one around, but it would do for her purposes. It didn't even come in a box, that's how low-quality it was, but it came with a guitar strap, so Danny was good to go. She flung it over her shoulder. This time she had actually checked the price- 75 seeds. Not the best, but not the worst.
As Roch caught up to her, she gave him a bag of seeds- there had to be at least 50 in there. "That's for your board."
Looking back at the angry shopkeepers, Danny doubted they were in any mood to discuss pricing. She looked over at the toy store exit, and squinted. It was about fifty feet. There was a table tilted up over there. The checkout counter was in between the table and the exit. Yeah that could work.
Laughing Danny says, "I gotta better idea!" She pulled a bag of about 150 seeds out of her pocket. "See you outside!" She laughed another one of her stupid laughs. This was fun.
With that, she took off towards the table. It was like an awkwardly set up ramp after all. She braced herself as the board (and consequently, the demon ghoul on it) went flying into the air over the counter. Mid-air she dropped the seeds on the check out counter. In one fluid movement she landed on the ground and was skating out the door. "Thank you!!" she shouted as the doors shut behind her.

He snorted, then raced after her, tossing the seeds she'd given him at the lady as he went. There was no way he would argue right now, and hell, she was rich, right?
But he went around the damn ramp. There was no way he was about to do something stupid like that when falling would get him caught. He needed to do a bit of practicing before something like that!
"You--you--!!" the shop workers shouted after them. Roch grinned, speeding through the maul on his new skateboard and wondering if he shouldn't go back to school before they started calling to find his dad.

Danny collapsed in the middle of the carpeted floor in the small fountain area right outside the store, in a fit of giggles. She took the strap off her chest and the guitar fell slightly to her side. Her tail was blazing in and out, like it was panting along side her. Her wings twitched in laughter.
"Roch we hafta take our friends back there sometime. That was fun," she said in between breathes. The adrenaline still hadn't quite worn off. She hadn't had any fun like that since getting to Amityville. She had actually almost forgotten what it was like to do something dangerous.
Danny propped herself up on her elbow and then gave Roch a quizzical look from where she was laying. "Think they'll let us come back?" She burst into laughter again. This was ten times better than the fish store!
Then she collapsed back onto the ground, laying herself out completely. She was still out of breath from excitement so she just sat there with a goofy grin on her face. Such was the bliss of ignorance.

"Yeah, I doubt it," Roch drawled, pulling to a stop and leaving one foot on the board. "Danny, we gotta GO," he prompted, looking over his shoulder. "They'll call the boogies on us soon! Get up, already, or I'll leave you behind!"
Although they'd PAID for the boards, so it shouldn't be too bad. But still, people liked calling boogies on him. It was a fact of life.

Moving? Danny didn't like that idea. Not one bit. "But Roch I'm tiiiiiireeddddd," she whined. He had a point though. Boogies were never fun to deal with. Not difficult necessarily- all it really required was some money shoved under their noses- but not fun at all. Very long and boring, lots of waiting in lines.
"Ugh fine," she grumbled. She reached up for his hand to pull herself up off the floor. She brushed her shorts off shoulders. "Think we should head back to Amityville, or did you want to get some pants first?"
Something told her the boogies wouldn't exactly love them staying in the maul, but it was true- Roch did have to get pants. Maybe she could just order him some later? Well it was his choice.

"I'll get some later," he said, getting on his board again and heading for the exit. "Or if nothing else I'll order them on the interweb. They never have the really cool stuff here anyway," he added, racing through the automatic opening door and down the path. He could almost picture the maul security flipping through Reaper files, bringing up his. They didn't have anything they could pin on him, technically, but he knew he was in the system.
His old man would be hard to get ahold of, though, he thought with a hint of amusement. Let them dial and redial their asses off, trying to get him in the human world. But then he'd have to deal with the same old song and dance from the old days.
But hell, at least he had a skateboard now! "How much do I owe you?" he asked her.

"Hey!" Danny shouted after him, getting up and kicking her own board into gear. A thought occured to Danny.
They had matching skateboards.
Danny smiled a bit bigger and she slapped him on the back as she passed him on the walkway. Danny pushed the doors open and wheeled herself outside into the cold air. It was a rather cold day in Halloween, with the wind rustling through hair and what not. Danny threw up her coat's hood and belted it closed. Cold was not welcome in this ghoul's house.
"Ughhh let's get home soon. It's freezing out." At least Roch was there. If she passed out on the way home, he could carry her, right? Well no, he'd probably drop her after five steps. Such a weakling.
Paying her back? "You don't owe me," she said quickly, with no hesitation. She knew Roch wouldn't be able to pay her back. Not anytime soon anyways. Besides, its not like 50 seeds would kill her. Her mother would probably commend her for "helping the poor" anyways.

He looked at her thoughtfully. "Alright," he said, heading down the path to the school. "I'll take your word at that." He would have enough problems to deal with soon enough. Man, he hoped the maul didn't call the school, too.
He hadn't thought about that one, he realized. This whole "school" thing could be a pain in the a** if he wasn't careful.
Back in the shop the workers had pocketed the extra seeds (skateboards only cost 30!) and decided not to mention it to anyone. Nobody'd been hurt after all!

Danny laughed and pulled up along side Roch. It had been a pretty good night right? If the boogies came after them, at least they'd get in trouble together. Danny would rather be in a cell with Roch than some big ugly oaf who would just piss her off.
Besides, they got matching skateboards. Danny was relatively chipper about that detail.
Still, Roch's skateboarding needed some work. "I'll teach you to ride it a bit better next time though!" She skidded and swerved left and right on the board. Well at least she could say she was better at Roch at one thing.
She punched him lightly on the shoulder and said, "Or maybe I will make you pay me back." She laughed and skated back ahead of him. Good maul visit was good.
