The Number Three A small fault line on the east coast is nothing compared the the fault line under St. Louis; and even that is nothing when you compare it to the ******** volcano under Yellowstone In Wyoming. Who is this Guy? sweatdrop You also forgot to mention the San Andreas (sp?) Fault line witch only The Super Volcano at Yellow Stone can compare but aside from that It is something when you stop to think most of the east coast is alot older then the rest of America, alot of structures here such as buildings, Bridges, roads, ect were not built to Match the same Quake levels of places such as Cali where quakes happen fairly often in Geologic time. The Quake Today Was Measured at 5.9....some people were saying 5.8 and 6.0 but Meh either was thats a fairly powerful Quake to people like Majin and alot of us here on the east coast who never felt an earthquake before.

It's a sign of the end times, according to my bat s**t mother.
And to those who quoted me, I stand by my point, its a minor ******** earthquake. It's not a big deal... I have lived in every corner of this country and see no reason to act out of whack because something uncommon happens.
I lived in Palm Springs a couple years back, earthquakes are common. No one cares when an earthquake happened. Then one day funnel clouds formed at the north end of the valley between two mountain ranges. //FUNNEL CLOUDS// not tornadoes, and people flipped their s**t. It makes no sense, even had they touched ground they would not be able to sustain themselves in the valley because of the mountains.
And for reference the earthquake today was 5.8 and nothing major was destroyed considering the area is not built with earthquakes in mind. Japans recent earthquake was 9.0 and it tore roads apart, and destroyed buildings made to resist earthquakes. In St. Louis there is a fault line that in 1811-1812 produced hundreds of earthquakes ranging 7.0-8.0 and some even higher, and produced aftershocks just as strong for a year. And that area is not built to withstand earthquakes.
Your just not going to get a rise out of me for today's earthquake or other isolated small natural events because they are not so dangerous. I do feel for y'all with the upcoming hurricane. I live in Kentucky and we got a chunk of hurricane something or other a few years back, it took out all the tree's in my neighborhood, so I know that stuff is ******** up.

Ill give you that it's scarey as ********, I an imagine... but the east coast is not all crumbling to the ground from it. We will be ok, but the thing is, (not just here) people are freaking out. My grandparents, who live in Illinois, are acting like DC just fell to communist Russia. I suppose I'm just using this outlet to rant my frustrations out. Also I didn't mention San Andreas, I felt it went without saying. Refer to my previous post for the fault under New Madrid, Missouri. It's not as big as S.A, but it can produce quakes just as powerful; in an area built to withstand the exact opposite of an earthquake.

Try not to flip s**t on people just for saying something significant to them dude. You're kinda new here, and it kinda makes you look like a douche. We talk about A LOT of stupid s**t here. Might as well get used to it.

I live in central North Carolina, less than 250 miles from the epicenter of this quake. Before you ask me, I'm fine. Nothing happened where I live. Some people have exaggerated what happened to them or around them because we felt the effects of the earthquake in VA.
Yes, it set off a fault line that cuts my county in half from east to southwest. I live east of this fault line but close enough that I know people nearby that felt a tremble or two.
Yes, the ground shook and caused a door handle or two to jostle, lightweight items to tip over, furniture to move just slightly, and maybe even a couple fat rolls to jiggle but we've all still got a pulse.
My beef with this whole earthquake deal is it registered in my county at somewhere between 2.0 and 3.0 (nothing too catastrophic). However, people were freaking out like it was on the level of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. One lady claimed her house was almost destroyed.
I'm not saying we should take this lightly. What I am saying is that we should all chill out a little and thank our stars that the damage is relatively low and nobody was injured seriously (to my knowledge).
If anything can be gained from this situation, it's that when disaster strikes, everybody knows what to do- get on Facebook. rolleyes

I feel you people do over react to s**t especially with Quakes and weather related phenomenon. Heck did DC even take any real damage? From what i herd Downtown B-More had more Damage then DC not much other then some old buildings fall that were probably vacant except for a bunch of Homeless people and crack heads..Baltimore Greatest city in the world My fat a** rofl . Sorry if I came off rude in anyway its just I herd alot of people expressing the same view of "Oh its nothing" when it was something...not something to flip s**t about or anything but if nothing else it gave us east coast Gaian's something to rant about xd EAST SIDE! cool
