Those skirts were just...improper in his opinion. But that was his opinion on a good many things that people - teens wore. He didn't have old fashioned taste, by any means. But he didn't like those short skirts at least not for fighting, especially not for fighting. It just left too many opportunities for who knows what to be seen.
Laughing he smiled. "I'm only a lieutenant and already I've heard such things too many times. I believe I was even compared to a thief...a bank robber." Insulting to say the least. Shaking his head he smiled then.
"I could try for a headbutt, that would be one idea which comes to mind, or try to put my legs to work and kick you in the back. Perhaps try to also dig my nails into your hand, cause pain and a loosening of the grip?" Thinking of what she'd said about causing pain or discomfort being enough. "Now what would you suggest of the options, or something else?" Wanting her opinion on the matter.

Painite laughed.
"I'm not surprised: they all do it. Senshi and knights. They all feel the need to gab on about how miserable we are, and how poorly we have made our decisions. Telling us how we're fighting on the wrong side, that just because Chaos aids us we're the bad guys."
She grinned down at him, using the moment for a little rant of her own, a lesson hidden in it somewhere, she was sure, but really she was just getting her thoughts out.
"Some of us take offense to that, you know? We know what we're fighting for, and we know our cause is just. But still, some have to defend themselves, as if telling these senshi their wrong makes us any better than them. Not me. If they want me to play the bad guy, then I'm more than happy to oblige."
When he asked for her opinion she grinned.
"That's up to you," she laughed. "I won't wait around forever." She moved then to pull her arm back and punch at him, aiming for his jaw. It freed one of his hands, as she had said she might do.

"Do you ever get used to it, where it doesn't offend you in some way?" He questioned. Did they not at least realize they all said the same thing? And more importantly that they were all humans and that like any human they had feelings and such things spoken over, and over, again could really cause people issues? Or was it another case of them not caring? He suspected it was them not caring.
"I've tried...to talk to a Page, who wasn't exactly the sort to fight. I'd caught him killing a youma and thought it prudent to inform him of what they once where..in the hopes to keep him from killing more of them." He spoke, feeling proud for trying to save some youma in the futures life. If speaking to that Page perhaps saved one youma it was worth divulging some things, right? "I did the same with an Eternal I've formed something of a truce with...she seems the type not to fight us. I didn't bring up youma, but I hope to eventually." Again, if it might stop the killing, even on a small scale. He was trying to speak to those who seemed could have reason spoken to them. If he could sway them away from fighting and killing.
It was another way to try and help, even if it was a small manner in which to help. It all amounted to something, correct? He just hoped Painite saw this and realized why he did these things, and more importantly approved. He wanted to know he was right in this, that it meant something and counted. Things couldn't all be fighting.
His hand didn't move to catch hers but to take the blow instead. In order to protect his jaw his arm came up to receive the fists impact. It hurt, no way around that, but he used the free hand to go for her hair. Hair was a weak spot, for anyone with a grab-able amount. She had said to cause pain, nothing about playing dirty. If he could get her to focus on that, and getting his hand out of her hair it could free up his second hand and allow him to attack.

"Oh, I never get offended. Not by that rubbish. See, the difference between me and most of them, most other people, I imagine, is that I can't be talked out of my own beliefs. I know what I'm fighting for, why I'm fighting, and how I'm going to continue fighting."
She grinned.
"And I like it when they try and tell me how wrong I am. It reveals their own weaknesses, their own insecurities. It gives me room to fight them in ways that are beyond just physical."
She listened as he explained what he had done so far, grinning with pride. She nodded her head. She hadn't thought to tell them about the youma, even if her version would be a little more twisted then even the truth was. It might be a fairly traumatic moment for someone. Fun times. Of course, she didn't really care about youma, not in the way Beni seemed to. She never really thought about them, which she knew was strange.
Probably wrong, in some way.
When she heard about a truce, though, she slammed him into the ground, abruptly changing the swing of the battle. She stared at him with a hard expression, even anger flashing into her eyes.
"You do not make friends with senshi! You do not make truces with them! They are our enemies, and that is all they will ever be! Unless you plan to steal her starseed when she's not looking, I don't see the point of playing pals with a bloody senshi! Is this the most devious of all plots, or are you softer than I took you for?"
Her expression softened, though, even though he was pulling her hair.
"You have to be so careful, Lieutenant. You can't see the line until you've crossed it. We've lost too many to them."

Nodding his head he agreed. He knew he was in the right, but it still bothered and offended him to have such accusations leveled at him. Painite was stronger than him. "I would have said that perhaps, not knowing everything little thing I do now, I could be talked into doubt at the start...to understanding a senshi I've met now twice. But I would not change sides, now more than ever."
The air rushed out of him, he hadn't seen the attack coming nor was it expected. The anger in her eyes froze him as guilt welled within him. Had this been wrong? A truce in order to talk, to try and sway ones opinion and perhaps soften them? He doubted he could get an eternal of all things to change sides. But if he could make them waver in their will to fight, even a youma, was that not some victory?
Gaining his breath he shook his head quickly. "No, I'm not weak. If I can just sway one senshi from killing youma would that not help us? I did challenge her, upon our first meeting, to find out just why they fight. Perhaps in her quest she will stop fighting and no longer kill the youma. Leaving us with one less to fight and a few more youma to fight in future battles." Biting his lip, he really wasn't sure if he should continue, was his idea weak or unworthy of time and energy spent? How could he tell Panite, someone he respected as much as he did that he couldn't kill someone? He just...couldn't. Somehow he felt weak right now, that he couldn't do that. But it wasn't something little or that someone went in to do without a single thought or care. Yes, the person was a senshi but there was that civilian side as well. If all senshi acted as they did as civilians perhaps it would be easier, but they didn't go spouting off about the Negaverse in public, at least not as far as he knew, nor did they do other things.
"Would it be wrong to attempt to keep one enemy from being such? To make them feel for their enemy to the point where they will not raise a hand to fight us?" Waiting, with baited breath for her reply. Was it a good enough idea to her. Would she approve or disapprove. Would she scold him or tell him to disband the idea.
"And what if I wished, later, to approach and woo a senshi to our side?" It was an idea, to bring one to their side would help them since they possessed magic.
"If I cross that line I will return, once I've seen it. And I will see it then more clearly from then on. I won't be pulled away." Not after hearing what he had and seeing the rift. "I'm loyal...I just want to help...even if it means consorting with the senshi and trying to dissuade them from their cause and their fight. But tell me about those we've lost to them...?"

Painite frowned. Her focus had never been the youma, and she couldn't fault him for picking his focus. She didn't mind that part, and it was a good endeavor if he believed in it. Her only worry was how talking could always go against them.
Senshi, and knights, were excellent talkers.
"Maybe," she said smoothly, backing up and getting off him, letting him breathe a bit and offering him her hand. She didn't want to teach him this way, and she knew that any Lieutenant had to fight his own battles, and learn his own way.
"We can corrupt senshi, as they call it, as we call it. We can bring them to our side, but you have to be careful, my little man." She spoke fondly, though her nickname was meaningless. Just a name that came into her head, and she looked at him with a strange mixture of anger and sadness in her eyes.
"They can take us, just like we can take them. Be careful. I don't know much about the General that became a knight, but it's all the same. In the end, if you ever lost your loyalty, or gave it to them, I would have to come for you. And I don't want to do that."
She smiled brightly, suddenly.
"But enough of that. You did well tonight, and if you think you can manage this plan of yours, I'll help you. There's no point in not trying, and you're more than smart enough to know how dangerous this job we're doing is."

Taking the offered hand he stood slowly. Taking a breather was a nice idea, at least right now since talking and fighting at the same time wasn't the best of ideas.
A General had joined the other side? That startled him, so did the very notion that they could...corrupt him in his opinion. They were the corrupt ones, even if they called the senshi on their side corrupt, he'd also heard the term enlightened used and it made more sense for him really. "I wouldn't do that...not to you, to Fluorite or the Negaverse." He was sure of himself and his place in this group, what was fast becoming a family even if it was small.
"If it brings us just one person, and saves us some youma by guilting even one senshi out of killing them, I feel it's worth the time to form a plan. The senshi though...he calls himself neutral and won't fight us. I think with how this senshi view things, that they aren't dedicated and as loyal as others, This is good for us I believe." It would certainly be dangerous and it didn't mean that the plan would work, nor did it mean the senshi would fight with/for them if they did corrupt them. A lot of risk but the reward would be good, one less senshi to fight and more magic on their side.
Ducking his head he flashed a smile up at Painite. "Thank you, I'm glad you took the time to help tonight. I'm hoping for more nights like this." He'd see to more nights like this, fit it into his schedule. "Now, shall we discuss plans?" He knew of his General's love for traps and planning them and Benitoite being organized as he was liked to plan out things. He'd started doing that after branching out from grabbing drunks at bars all the time.

"You're right, of course. A plan is always a good thing to have. I'm the best at them," and modest about it too, "but you need to know how to make one before you start following it out. It needs to be as complete as possible, and you have to plan out every possibility. You need more than one escape plan, more than one outcome imagined, best and worst case, and everything in between."
She smiled at him softly. He was one of her boys, and she found herself worrying about him deeply. Normally she was all for dangerous plots and recklessness. But for some reason, tonight, she was just too worried. She tried to snap out of it.
"I trust you to come to me when you need help. And I believe you're more than capable to pull something like this off, but I'll keep training you until it's impossible for you to fail."
At his offer to discuss the plan, though, she grinned and nodded.
"Let's do that, then. Come on, you can visit my place and we'll have some tea and chat. We're both bruised enough for one night. You're very capable, Benitoite. I've got great faith in the things you'll be able to do. You'll be awesome."

Smiling he couldn't help but laugh. She was always up for plans and thinking about what was needed for them to work. It seemed she had an addiction to plans and planning. Not that this was a bad thing, far from it in fact. He found it quite predictable though and so...normal. It felt right, like sitting around a table and talking to family members and them saying or doing something so predictable and so them.
"I know, it's why I've mentioned these ideas to you. I could look to no other to plan with me that which I plan to attempt." He spoke, honestly, his voice lowered with the love he held for his General. The love of someone familiar and well trusted.
"At worst it could go wrong...and he fights us and escapes, from there e tells others. That is the worst I can see as a possibility. Or perhaps another...an Eternal or some royal turning up to bail the senshi out. At best...we have another senshi on our side. Who though can corrupt a senshi...?" Was it a power she had? It had been a General who had corrupted him, but was it different for a senshi?
A soft laugh and a nodding of his head. "I'm not one for tea, nor coffee, and I doubt you make espresso. Hot chocolate, if possible, would be good. We can discuss the plot I have, for energy gathering, perhaps formulate new ones together, and plan more nights to train." He'd like that, a lot. Being offered to follow her home sent a shot of warmth through him, settling in his gut. He'd find out who she was tonight, as a civilian, and the offer of going to her home was somehow...meaningful to the blond.
"I hope that no matter what I do, even if I stray and return, I keep your respect and understanding." He'd wait till she took on a civilian form before doing so himself, figuring she would know when it was safe to do so.

Painite smiled at him, nodding her head. She loved him as well, and she could see that he respected her and held her in high regard. Two things she loved people to do. But she also felt that he was a member of her extended family, as it were, not a minion or 'just' a Lieutenant. Someone she cared about
Her friend.
"Well, if anything goes wrong, you have me there to get you out. If push comes to shove, we'll escape by teleporting, but we should plan for anything, as I always say. If something happens to me, for example, then we'd need a plan B. Or C."
She grinned, apparently not worried about that possibility too much despite her insistence on being prepared. Maybe because she often let her confidence get ahead of her, and could be a little self-foiling when left to it. She tried to plan everything she could think of, but inevitably her need to win overrode her preparedness. Part of having escape plans, after all, was accepting that a plan had failed.
Though much better at it now, she was still wont to push things too far.
"That sounds good to me," Painite said, nodding her head and beginning the walk home. She powered down, once she was certain there was no one around to see, and no auras in the area besides theirs. She grinned at him, thinking she would have to introduce herself. "You'll always have my respect as long as you continue to earn it. Gently Ponsonby, by the way."

"I always at least like a plan B." Pan C's could not always be come up with, some things simply did not allow for that. But a plan B was a need, not having one could lead to issues. This was something he'd been learning, via trial and error. Not having back up plans had proven, time and again, that they were needed. It was one reason he was holding back on energy gathering which required plans. He wanted to make sure he had escape routes and other things planned first. It took more time but hopefully it would reduce the chances of injury, being caught, police showing up, and running off in no particular direction to escape said cops.
"I know who you are, Gently." That said just as he powered down, an even brighter smile in place. Something he hadn't bestowed upon her as a civilian and not even as a Lieutenant. But he knew her, she was a friend. Not someone he'd never met, or worst yet she wasn't someone he disliked. She was a friend as a civilian.
"I still want to hit that art gallery, the one where I went through the window." He spoke softly, just on the off chance someone came upon the two of them. "My planning that night...turned in to a mess." But he still had gotten notes on his ideas, and Painite had retrieved his notebook from the rooftop across the street from the gallery.

Gently's face lit up like a child at Christmas, honestly surprised by a gift she had not seen coming but truly adored. She almost clapped her hands together in childish glee, but the only thing that spared her from that was the fact that she was leaping at him and wrapping her arms around his neck. It was hard to clap and hug someone at the same time.
And the hug was far more important.
"Alexandre! What a treat!" She hugged him tightly, with more meaning than just being happy she knew him. There was a reason she had so much faith in this lieutenant, and she hadn't even realized it. She knew him better than she had imagined, and she could use that in helping him even more. They were friends, allies, and now they would train and work together.
"We'll hit that place, then. I don't think I like it, anymore, knowing you went through one of its windows. I'd like a little pay back on it, and all the innocent bystanders inside it. I imagine they're all just waiting to share their energy with us."
There was no sarcasm in her tone: she really did want to attack them and drain their energy just for the sake of it. Just because they happened to be there, where this completely unrelated thing happened. And because there was probably modern art there.
She knew he didn't like it.
Leading the way, she led him back to her house, so they could talk and plan.

Yes, those two things were hard to do at the same time. Truly surprise he stumbled back with Gently wrapped about him. Oh god was she happy! It wasn't a bad thing, just unexpected.
Hugging back, tightly, he drew her in to lay his head on her shoulder for a brief moment. "This is indeed a treat, truly it is." Laughing at her words he nodded his head and laid his hand on her short hair lightly. "I agree. I took note of how many people in and out, closing and who was there for it, the time, I made note of exits and anything else." He'd made a lot of notes on the place, before that senshi had shown up and he'd gone for her.
"I thought it would make a lovely target, a lot of people seem to be fans of modern art, the abstract." She was indeed right on what sort of art was there. He had picked it for that reason, poor taste.
"I still need to work on our gifting war." He spoke, seeing as both civilian and negaverse lives were intertwined it felt ok to talk about both. Following her to her home he kept pace with her, smiling contently. He was happy to have another person whom he knew in both lives. It enforced that family feeling he'd been getting, when it came to the negaverse. He liked this feeling of family, it warming.

Gently was a wealth of happiness and excitement, most of the time, and this was genuine joy. It was rare that the plotter got surprised, as she was one of those people who could think out most common situations, and come up with the logical conclusions. Buying presents for her was a pain, and watching movies with her was almost torture if one didn't come in prepared.
But this? She hadn't been expecting this.
And she loved that.
She walked him back to her house, speaking all the while about the plan, smiling at him brightly, her sea green eyes burning with her excitement. Not just because her friend was also her Lieutenant, but because they had a very interesting plan on their hands, and she was very much a fan of those. It sounded like it would be a lot of fun, a little dangerous, and had the marks of a very successful energy trip. And they might bag a senshi or two.
All of those things were awesome in her book.

This was something he knew she couldn't have predicted, her Lieutenant was also her friend. The same friend she'd pulled up on stage and declared a gifting war against. Well now he could spend more time around her, better figure gifting ideas for her. He'd be able to get to know her far better.
The trip back to her place was spent in discussion, even as he plotted what to get her. He needed to get her something good, something she could use or would like. Both the plan for energy gathering and grabbing a senshi, to turn him on to their side, were dangerous in their own ways. He couldn't be sure which was more dangerous to be honest.
"You know, if we have anyone else." Any other Lieutenants she may have under her wing at present. "We could make it a group thing, the energy draining." He spoke as they stood outside of her home. "And we can get that part done faster, before any senshi show up." Not that he minded that, he just didn't want to drop energy orbs.
