...Tall Reaper boil with a hat, who threatened her cat. Err, well, this was just getting more and more uncomfortable, now wasn't it? He had a feeling - no, not a feeling, he knew - that the scareling he'd threatened was this Mitsu ghoul that Shun was so eager to protect. Sobbing in her room with a mask on? Aside from the mask bit, Mac had made ghouls cry before, with words alone. He shifted, incredibly uncomfortable.
"Put...Put him down, Shun." Mac said, his voice edging with warning. He stayed where he was for now, but his arm poised to summon his weapon if he had to. "Mot said the cat attacked him, not his pet; I think that means he knows Mitsu, and she would have been able to say 'Mot threatened me', don't you think?" As long as Shun stopped hurting Mot for something Mot didn't do, he'd be happy. There was no point in telling the boil it was probably him, though.

Tall reaper with a hat? Why did Mitsu say he had made her cry? "Oh!" Mot suddenly exclaimed. "Mitsu's been having nightmares lately. I read her a story to put her to sleep, but maybe since I was there, she had a nightmare... with me in it?" He had seemed enthusiastic at first, though he seemed less confident in his theory as he explained. It was kind of stupid. Mot lowered his gaze, his brow furrowed in concern. He didn't hurt her, right? Right?
He was genuinely concerned now, and doubting himself. And Shun was getting more and more angry. Mot lost all will to look threatening.
Mot cast a nervous glance to Mac. He looked like he was going to help him out, and he prayed the boil would follow through.

Glancing back at Mac for a moment, Shun considered what was said. There was certainly a point there, but that left him without a culprit if that was the case. His grip loosened on the cowboy, but he didn't let go of him just yet.
"She was covered in mud and her hand had been cut somehow. I doubt that was a dream," he glowered at Mot. It was a pathetic theory.
"If it wasn't Mot, then who was it then? There aren't really any other reapers around who wear hats all that often are there?" he hissed towards the guy at the door. In his rage, he had forgotten that Mac usually wore a hat, but at the same time he wasn't THAT familiar with the guy. Plus he wasn't wearing it right now.

Mac's probably only current saving grace was the fact that were were other, taller hat wearing reapers out there. Or maybe that he wasn't wearing his hat at the moment. Jack's ghost be praised!
"Shun. Let him go." Mac said again, his voice on edge. "Who said it was even a Reaper, eh? If she was that upset, there are an awful lot of Reaper-looking Demons out there. Or Ghosts, or really convincing Monsters." Undeads were generally easy to pick out of a crowd, but the rest could be pretty well hidden. "I'm sure there are a lot of other scarelings that wear hats a lot." He argued, black gaze focused solely on Shun. Visually, Mot had kind of faded into the background since the Shinigami was the more, ah, dangerous threat here...plus it was helpful to know when your future murderer was going to launch at you once he put the puzzle pieces together.
"Now, again, put the idiot down, and maybe, you know...get your facts before attacking some random suspect."

Mot relaxed a little bit, the grip on his collar slightly loser now. Not only was Shun losing interest in him, Mac was attempting to save his a** from further beatings. Mac was a fairly decent friend already, though he didn't know him very well, but as far as he could tell now, he was a stand up guy. It wasn't often you found someone who could save you from an angry fist.
He could have done without the idiot remark, though.
Still, the tension in the room was severely thickening. Part of Mot wished to flee, however, a stronger part wanted to make the tension dissipate. "U-um.. let's just.. calm down now." Mot stammered nervously. Shun was already pissed, and now even Mac was starting to yell. "I'm sure we can work together to find this guy and figure out what happened. Maybe we can get him to apologize."

For the most part, Shun ignored what Mot said, if only because Mac was starting to really piss him off. Glaring at the reaper across the room, he turned away, tossing the cowboy aside rather roughly to approach Mac.
"There are other ways to tell a Reaper from the others outside of our human appearances," he said lowly, now right up in Mac's face. Despite how quiet he was, the anger was still very much there, "If you're so intent on saving your buddy here, best find out who did it. There might be a number of scarelings in general who wear hats, but the numbers are much lower when we take Reapers into account."
Glancing back at Mot for the moment, his next question went to both of them.
"So tell me, outside of the cowboy, who else of our kind is known to have a hat around? Who happens to have a pet bird small enough for a cat to injure?"

Once more, poor Mot went unheard. And, like before, it was all Shun's fault. The (mysteriously slightly) shorter Reaper was suddenly in his face, and the pure anger that radiated from him just...well, it actually scared him, a lot. He did his best to not show it, but it was hard to help, especially when his black eyes widened.
Sadly, the same couldn't be said for his other natural reflexes.
"Naw, see, I don't think I will." He snarked right back, the words getting out before they could be stopped. Oh, well, damn, guess he should finish it. "It's not my problem, it's yours, since you want someone to blame. I just know my buddy there is innocent." And then, the dreaded question. Mac fell silent, looking from the shorter Reaper to the taller one, and then back again. A small pet bird, a hat, a reaper; yup, that settled it, the ghoul was definitely the one he yelled at that day. His heart raced, his stomach was alive with bats, and every fibre of his being was screaming at him to run. Instead...
"Me."

Finally, he was released. Albeit roughly. Mot stumbled on his own feet as he was tossed aside like an unneeded sack of meat and fell to the floor. He let out a grunt upon impact and rubbed the elbow he had landed on. He was now safe, though? Perhaps not.
Shun's words had made Mot increasingly nervous. If you want to save your buddy? Did that mean Shun would still beat the information out of him if Mac failed to help? He let out an audible gulp in response. Mot's heart beat a bit faster, his eyes darting from Mac to Shun. What had he done that deserved this?
Mac continued to vouch for him, and it helped ease his worries only slightly. It was good to know Mac was not going to stand by and let him get bullied.
The air in the room, already tense, grew dark as Mac admitted he had been the one whom Mitsu had been afraid of. Mot stared at his neighbour with a wide gaze, brown eyes having turned from worry to surprise. Mac did it? He threatened Mitsu? It made sense now. There were some ghouls who claimed Mac to be rather harsh, but this put some truth to it. While Mot was thankful he had protected him, his feelings about him now started to feel unsure. Threatening a ghoul was just not something his stomach could keep down. Worser yet, Shun was going to attack Mac for certain.
While Mot wanted Mac to fix things with Shun and Mitsu, he did not wish for it to turn violent. Mot got to his feet quickly. If he needed to help Mac he would, since he had done the same for him. His feet moved without him willing them to toward the pair, ready to hold Shun back if he made a move on Mac.

For awhile there, Shun's expression hadn't changed at all as it sounded like Mac was just beating around the bush. However, his gaze quickly locked onto him as he admitted to being the one to have made Mitsu cry.
Come to think of it, Mac did wear a hat normally, didn't he?
Practically drilling holes through the guy with his eyes, he was silent for a moment or so. His dark eyes flicked to the cowboy briefly.
"Sorry," he said gruffly before turning his attention back to Mac. Then, without warning (unless he happened to be expecting it), his right fist lashed out to try and punch the guy across the temple.
"You b*****d," he hissed under his breath.

Mac expected Shun to lash out, but the somewhat shorter Reaper was much faster than he anticipated, and while he was able to dodge the full force of the blow but the fist still connected, sending him staggering to the side. Pain exploded through all of his senses and, for a moment, everything turned to white.
"Bloody-Jackin-Mary!" Mac cursed once he found his voice, his eyes squeezing shut to reopen wide, a shaking hand moving to hold the side of his face as though it would stop the stinging pain. "Little trigger happy, aren't ya, boil?!" Although he was now the proud owner of a raging headache that only helped his earlier RUN AWAY instinct, he continued to lower his own life expectancy.
"Skellington, Don't you ever ******** listen?" He taunted with a sneer, his hand dropping from his face. "I said I fit the description, that doesn't mean I did it." He was a hat wearing reaper with a small bird, and although he was pretty sure it was him...well, that was't the point.

Mot was not fast enough. By the time he reached the pair, mac had been struck. The cowboil staggered back with a "Woah!", his arms flying up as he stayed some distance away. Shun was a hotwire now, and it was best to keep away some, lest he get hit too... again.
As scared of personal injury as he was? He still moed to hold Shun back, his arms hooking under the pissed off reaper's and locking him in place. Whether he could keep him there remained shaky. "Hey! Nothing gets solved by punching him." Mot warned, his tone shaky but at least not sounding as scared as he was.
"So, uh.. you didn't threaten Mitsu?" Mot asked, trying to shed light on the issue. "Or that is, your bird wasn't attacked by a cat?" If it wasn't, that meant Mac was innocent. However, that also meant they were out of suspects.

Shun was going to follow up with another attack but he felt Mot grab him from behind, aiming to restrain the volatile reaper. Sneering, he glared back at the cowboy and started to try and wiggle free. He paused for the moment, as the other two began to speak.
"Or does it?" He hissed lowly. It seemed for the moment, he wasn't going to try and break free too hard, but his mood certainly hadn't gotten any better since he had lashed out.

"I also never said it wasn't me." Mac said simply, with a shrug. In the face of this particular danger he was nowhere near as angry as he had been at the time, but still...
"Her idiot cat nearly killed my bird! I told her I'd have a little chat with her if Whip didn't recover." With Mot holding Shun back for now, Mac didn't feel too terrible about letting spill his side of the story. "What was I supposed to do? Say 'Naw Man, it's okay, my pet could die but that's fine!'? ******** that noise, she shouldn't have let the little beast out, and if she did she should have, you know, trained it to not attack other people's animals." He growled, lip curling, fingers also twisting into a fist.

The situation wasn't getting much better. Mot had a feeling keeping Shun under control was not going to last much longer either. Not with mac losing his temper.
Okay, so it was Mac after all. He seemed to feel justified in how he handled the situation, but Mot wasn't agreeing with him. However, he was not about to let him get hit again. "Shun, cool it." Mot uttered, tightening his hold on the boil. There was a big chance he would flip his s**t after what mac said. "Mac, don't be a p***k. I get you're upset, but don't you feel that maybe you overreacted?" Yelling at a ghoul just did not sit right. Mitsu was a timid type, and not someone who could handle a temper tantrum.
"Mitsu's a nice ghoul. She meant no harm. It was just a very unfortunate accident." Mot was bordering on wanting to flee and let Mac get the s**t beat out of him and finding the words to make the situation right. He was starting to lean towards the former.

Mot was right in his assumption. When Mac started to go off, Shun started to struggle to break free once more. He wanted to get in another hit if possible.
"Who's to say she let it out?" he hissed angrily, "Pets get out on their own sometime and how the hell is an animal supposed to tell what's another pet and what's not?"
Thrashing to break free he added, "And you. Why are you letting your bird unsupervised anyway when there's also feral minis around?"
Shun still wasn't yelling, but it seemed that he might soon. The image of seeing Mitsu cowering with her mask on in her own room was practically burned into his mind.
"Don't act like it's completely her fault. Regardless of what happened there was no reason for you to ******** flip out on her. I've been working for months trying to get her to come out of her shell and to fix her damn fears and you just shattered that all in one go."
