How dangerous could it be, indeed. She had no idea, of course, and he couldn't fault her for that.
He looked baffled when she said the door was already closed, but, of course, it was. He looked at it for a moment, then at her. Whoops. He had been too caught up in thoughts of youma and the crystal that he simply hadn't noticed that she had already beaten him to the punch.
He moved after her, hopping all the way.
"Don't touch it, Kyndall!" He warned, as if the scariest thing on earth to him were this furry woodland creature. Or that he knew something about it she didn't know. Like it was part rattlesnake. That would have at least put her at a safe distance in a hurry, he hoped.
Dogby, of course, had better plans then the both of them. As Tony was moving toward the squirrel, using the wall as a support, Dogby came barking it from the other side. Maybe she was part herd dog and was helping her owner by chasing the thing toward him. Or, more likely, she just really wanted to eat the squirrel. Or just sniff it a whole lot.

Whatever was up with the strange squirrel, it certainly wasn't a youma. It lacked the trademark energy signature, and seemed quite focused on it's green treasure to be worried about anything as silly as starseeds. A squirrel had no use for starseeds, after all. Suddenly, however, the world began to fall apart. The squirrel's already perilous perch came swiftly down with the clatter of aluminum curtain rods tumbling against the wall. The curtains broke his fall, but he was briefly lost in darkness until Kyndall gathered the curtains up and pulled them away. The small creature puffed up to a continually unimpressive size, the only imposing thing about him being the large lump in his left cheek that showed his hidden stash. By the way he looked at Kyndall, he might have actually approached her on his own, but the return of Dogby provided some much needed motivation. No sooner had the corgie returned to the chase than the squirrel was running wildly up Kyndall's body to seek refuge in her hair. It chattered angrily at Dogby, and spat the crystal out like some kind of projectile. A last defense, regrettably deployed to save his own life. And so the Terra Viridus rainbow crystal bounced across the floor with a sharp ring, rolling to a stop at Tony's feet. ((Congratulations, Lithia! For exemplary RP activity, friendly presence in the main thread, and above and beyond dedication as a shopgoer, you have earned a rainbow crystal! Thank you for being such an active player and all around awesome shop participant!))

Tony watched the chaos and could do little to help, though he wasn't sure who he might help. The squirrel or Dogby. He did move to put his hand on Kyndall's shoulder just in case. Of course, then the squirrel leaped on her and used her as a tree, and Tony tried to help by holding on to her.
The crystal bounced off Dogby's head, sending her skittering and whimpering away. She was not much for bravery, and she hid under the bed almost immediately.
She wasn't going to come out for anything.
Tony looked at the crystal as it landed at his feet. He bent to pick it up, careful of it as it was covered in squirrel drool. Wiping it on his hospital gown, he held it up and examined the green of the crystal, seeing his own green eyes reflected in it. Something about it captured his attention, and he closed his palm around it.
Coming out of his daze, he noticed he still had Kyndall at arm's length and he blushed. "Are you alright?"

Kyndall was fine with the squirrel until it used her as a tree. Then she wasn't charmed by it's cuteness or filled with sympathy for its plight. At that point she simply wanted it out of her hair and outside where it belonged. And poor Dogby. The cute little thing was hiding under the bed looking like her fun was now over.
Tony was behind her and when she turned she noticed he hand his hand on her shoulder. He was studying the crystal in hand, a small unremarkable thing for all the fuss it caused. His hand was still on her and she noticed it was more of a protective measure than one meant to restrict. Their eyes met as he finally realized the situation they were in. She might have pulled away, blushed as he was doing, and made a remark about propriety that she didn't mean in the slightest.
She didn't. Rather, she didn't want to. She liked it. This wasn't helping her developing crush on a taken man.
She finally wrestled with herself and pulled away from him, fishing the squirrel out of her hair. From there it was as simple as opening the window and letting the scared thing escape unharmed. With a grimace she thought of how tangled it must have made her hair, sheltering itself in it. No, certainly not cute anymore. She slipped her arm around Tony's waist and helped him toward the bed. It wouldn't do to have him hurt himself now even worse than before. Once she had him settled she began to gather the papers that had been scattered by Dogby's chase.
Speaking of Dogby...
She scooted herself under the bed and cooed softly to the Corgi, trying to soothe her and assure her the threat was gone from the room not to return. If she managed to get close enough and calm her down she'd pluck the pup up and put her in her owner's lap. If not she'd simply let shaking dogs lie. Either way she took a perch on the edge of Tony's bed and touched his cheek fondly.
"Thank you for trying to protect me. It was very sweet of you." She looked toward the door. "I should call them in to hook you up to these machines again. Though you can explain what happened. I'm not sure exactly what to say."

Dogby scooted out from under the bed only with the gentle prodding of Kyndall and her reassuring voice. The corgi was far from a guard dog: she didn't know how to growl and certainly never felt inclined to. Biting was reserved for food. She barked a lot but she was the dog equivalent of all talk.
Tony watched as Kyndall recovered the trembling dog from under the bed, smiling as he took her. He tensed a bit as Kyndall touched his cheek, looking at her sheepishly.
"Well, if there's one thing I'm good at, it's fending off small, furry woodland creatures. Though, I suppose you and Dogby did most of the work." He chuckled, then looked at his slightly bruised hand and arm. The IV had been removed and put back in a few too many times, and he was not looking forward to doing it again.
"We can call them in a bit. I'm not in pain at the moment, and I don't really like those needles. That squirrel didn't manage to hurt you, did it? I mean, with it's little... claws." He was holding on to the crystal, his hand folded over it.

"There might be some cuts and scrapes here and there but I'm not worse off for them. I can tend to them at home."
It had been an eventful morning altogether and Kyndall felt a hot blush seep across her cheeks for the first time today when she realized she had a rather obvious, at least in her opinion, crush on Tony. This was not going to go well. She couldn't tell him lest he not want to be around her anymore and change his mind about the play. Not to mention that she was pretty sure he was taken. She thought he mentioned a girlfriend once when they were chatting lightly. Just to be sure she asked.
"How is your girlfriend? Has she come to see you at all since you've been in here?"
Obviously he wasn't the knight she expected him to be. In almost every story or play she read the hero came in and romanced their heroine off her feet and carried her away. Sure, it was occasionally cheesy, some bad stuff happened in between, and there was always a villain to face but on the whole that's what happened. She admired that part of things - the selflessness of the hero and how devoted he was to one girl. Even if it wasn't realistic it's what she'd always held out hope for. Some knight to sweep her off her feet.
That's what she was holding out for in a man and was sadly without it and had been for a long time. Some called her too picky. Others said her expectations were too high. She just thought of this as having standards. I mean, what do you call someone who admits they'd do anything for the woman they love?
A man, right?
Right...and as a lady she couldn't actually hit on a man who was already taken. It wasn't her style. She was much too classy to do that and besides, he hadn't shown her the smallest clue that he was interested. She's simply have to put this crush from her mind, is all. She pet Dogby while she thought about it, frowning thoughtfully.

"My girlfriend? She's out of town at the moment, I'm afraid," he smiled, though he missed Suri. He had only just found out that she was, in fact, out of town, as before he had managed to miss that information though he was sure he had been told. He could be a little dense some times.
It was ironic that she didn't consider Tony the knight she wanted him to be, as he was a knight. Quite literally. He was, unfortunately, not as romantic of one as the stories often made them out to be. Not Lancelot, not in this case. But he was still nice, and honest, and he smiled at her.
"I'm glad you weren't badly hurt, though I suppose we're in the right place for it. I mean, just in case." It wasn't the best joke he had ever made. He relaxed a bit, watching her as she pet Dogby, playing with the crystal in his hand. "I think our next meeting might be better suited away from this place. More trouble than it's worth, and I'm definitely tired of it."

"That's a shame." Sort of. How could it really be a shame if it left her to be with him now almost guilt free. Almost because she had nothing to feel guilt about, not really, but inside a nagging voice kept telling her she shouldn't harbor attraction to a taken man. The sooner it was pushed out of her head, the better.
Her thoughts of knights were out of her head at the moment. Sure, if she ever found out she'd geek out like a fangirl at Comic Con but for now she was a mostly composed woman with very good reasons to keep her thoughts secret. She was thinking, instead, of this proposed next meeting and the fact that he seemed to enjoy spending time with her almost as much as she liked spending time with him...delusional squirrels and all.
"You might be right." she agreed. "Perhaps somewhere else might be better suited for our next meeting. Perhaps the libarary? A cafe or coffeehouse?" She paused, looked at him sidelong and added in coyly "my place?"
She should go. She had things to do today, a show to go to tonight that a coworker recommended. She wanted to leave plenty of time to get there early just in case she wanted a table or something. The only question left was where and when and while her original intentions were still solid she couldn't deny it wasn't just to talk about Camelot anymore.
"Hard to imagine you in a club." she murmured, mostly to herself but about him.
