"Oh..." Lyra smiled in relief, but it quickly turned into a frown. "Oh no....I am so sorry that foxes are mean to you." The sweet starry phim looked at the armor clad one in shock. "You seem like such a sweet and gentle creature I can not imagine why anyone would want to be so cruel. I have known you a good hour, and granted that isn't relatively long, but you don't warrant any of those names in my opinion." The phim's tail twitched behind her.
"I wish I had been there to teach those thugs something about manners. To treat you such a way....Ugh it is deplorable to say the least. It...Mm....It makes me so angry I could scream!" Slowly Lyra took a deep breath, blushing as she looked at the other vixen. "I apologize....I.....I didn't mean to get so emotional. I just cannot stand bullying."
(i have some rather....random ones that I never knew they were going to be so strange....like Temina....my god I did not plan to have her be such a scatterbrain but she is very hilarious I think lol)

Blinking Merrill thought about it and muses aloud in a quiet voice. “Well I suppose they were being mean, but at least by calling me names like that they were talking to me and acknowledging my existence. It would be worse if you were all alone and no one would speak to you or look at you or anything like that. I think that would be worse. Even if a fox is exiled at least others remember that that fox existed and was kicked out. To be forgotten is worse than been called names no matter how mean.. At least I think it is.”
Merrill smiled at the other vixen suddenly. “So even if they were trying to be mean they were actually being nice, that’s sweet don’t you think? Even if they bite me or bully me at least they know I’m there and I’m something not nothing.” That was always a good thing right?

The starry phim looked at her taken back. She was happy that the other foxes were tormenting her? How could that be? And where did she get these warped ideas about existence. She supposed that the phim had a point, but to allow others to be mean to her just so that she felt like she hadn't been forgotten. Lyra decided right and there that she was going to help this phim. She wasn't sure how she was going to accomplish it, but obviously there was something lonely about Merrill. And for such a sweet, and happy fox it was disturbing for her to allow people to treat her horribly.
"Merrill....you have become my new project." She nodded her head, smiling. "I am going to help you."

“New project? What do you mean? Why do I need help?” Merrill blinked. She didn’t think she needed help. She never met any really mean foxes so she had never really been hurt before. She had met foxes that called her names, but they were just talking to her, and foxes who chased her away, but they were just playing right? She was a bit confused as to why she needed to be a project to work on, and what needed to be worked on.
She smiled anyway at Lyra. She looked at the purple starry phim. Her armor garment jingled as she shifted to a more comfortable position. She kept her wings folded back and out of the way as she waited for an answer to her questions. Merrill felt so lucky to have met such a nice phim.

"Well maybe project is the wrong word..." She placed a paw to her lip as she thought about it, "How about....new friend. Aye i like the sound of that better." Lyra nodded her head with a big smile covering her face, "You are going to be my new friend Merrill.....It has been lonely wandering around by myself for awhile now...I think I shall like having another vixen to talk to once in awhile. And since I don't really have anywhere to go that's important...then I can simply follow you are and keep you companion..." And keep other foxes from calling you names. Lyra finished in her head.
"What do you say, would you mind terribly if I followed my new friend around for awhile?"

At the word friend Merrill’s ears shot straight up. Whenever she asked if anyone was her friend before they said no, or no in other less polite terms. The thought of having a friend was amazing Merrill was incredibly excited. “Really!?” Her tail wagged enthusiastically. Her metal armor jingled as she shifted. “I have a den, well several really. I always keep forgetting where I put everything, but don’t worry. I’m sure I can find my way back. I almost always do. If you want you can stay with me!” The idea of having a den guest was interesting.

"Of course." Lyra chuckled as she watched the excited phim. Oh yes, Merrill would be a very interesting friend indeed. nothing would ever be boring that was for sure. "Oh dear." The vixen couldn't help laughing at the fact that the armor clad phim couldn't remember where her den was.
"I do hope that you don't lose anything valuable when you forget where your den is." Lyra frowned concerned, then couldn't help but perk back up. There was something infectious about Merrill's jolly mood that made Lyra continue smiling.
"I would love to stay with you. How generous of you to offer. Thank you."

Shaking her head Merrill smiled. “No. I have enough stuff everyone that I don’t really lose anything since I have copies of everything. It does make my den a wee bit of a mess though. I hope you don’t mind.” Merrill shifted her weight back to her original position. She liked Lyra’s laugh. It was calming and happy sound.
“I’ve never lived with anyone before since I was back home with my clan. I did used to travel with some others, but they left a long time ago. Then I found a den and started living on my own again. It’s really quite when you live alone.” Merrill decided it was a good time to shut up just then so that she didn’t keep rambling and scare off her new friend.

"Well at least you aren't losing anything important." Lyra smiled at her friend, "That would be very sad. Hm? Oh you used to live with a clan? That is very exciting. What was that like, if you don't mind me asking?" The starry phim cocked her head to the side and smiled at Merrill softly. All too well the phim knew what it was like to live alone. Lyra hadn't had any company for many years, since her parents died.
She was all alone in the world, but most days that didn't bother her. Unless she spotted a happy family, or a mated pair and then the sting of being alone came back to her and she craved to have someone with her. Maybe that was one of the main reasons that she wanted Merrill as a friend. So she wouldn't be alone anymore.

At the mention of her clan Merrill’s ears fell back. She knew she mentioned it first but she hadn’t thought about what life in the clan had been like until Lyra asked. She looked at Lyra with a clearly strained fake smile on her face. “Oh clan life was great, there were a lot of foxes and I was taught a number of things. I didn’t.. I mean..” Merrill stopped and was clearly trying to organize her thoughts in a more positive light. A muscle in her jaw twitched once. “ I had a lot of responsibility.”
She looked at the other phim and saw a shadowed look on the other’s face. Thinking she had somehow upset the other she panicked. “Umm… oh but it wasn’t bad or anything it was just what it was.”

Lyra could tell that she had said something wrong and she frowned. Maybe it had been a bad idea to mention it at all, from the way that she was describing it made Lyra think that life was not as rosy as Merrill was explaining it. Sighing, Lyra shook her head.
"You don't have to pretend Merrill...If you don't wish to speak about it then it is fine. I should not have brought up the subject. I am sorry if I dredged up bad memories." The starry phim looked around, "Let us discuss something happier." She smiled and nodded her head, "How about we go back to your den like we discussed earlier?"

“It’s not that I don’t want to talk about it, but well.. I didn’t…I mean… I was alone a lot. It wasn’t all bad. There were lots of other foxes around, and I did learn things. It was just I spent all of my time learning. There was no time for other things. ” Merrill still wore her strained expression.
She looked away in the direction she had flown here from. “Yes, lets go back to my den.” She looked back to Lyra much happier at the idea of heading home. “I hope you’ll like it. There should be room enough for a whole family of foxes, unless I filled it up already.” She giggled a bit but in her mind she tried to calculate how many things she had in her den.. it was a mess after all.

Lyra smiled as she shook her head, "I am confident that between the two of us we can make enough room in your den for us to share." She nodded her head as she chuckled. Honestly Merrill was the type of vixen that could make her laugh at the words peanut butter. She was just so chipper and adorably innocent that Lyra couldn't help liking the girl.
"Come on, lead the way Merrill and I shall follow you." She smiled warmly at the armor clad vixen as she spread out her wings and shook out the kinks, flapping them a couple times to make sure that they weren't going to cramp up on her mid-flight.

Twittering Merril smiled. “Alright if you think so I’ll try and make sure I keep my mess to a minimum so we don’t get swallowed up by it.” Ah Lyra was so calm and confident. It was so incredible to be around such a vixen that actually wanted to talk to Merrill. Of course that was because Lyra hadn’t known her long, but Merrill hoped she would stay for a while.
The armored phim shook herself and then launched herself up. The air felt so good and cleansing much like her talk with Lyra had been. Merrill was grateful that she had flown in a relively straight line to get here. It made finding her way back easy. At least she hoped it would.

Lyra chuckled, "I would hate to be swallowed up by anything." She followed the armor clad phim into the air and straightened out her wings. She enjoyed the feeling of air underneath her wings as much as every other phim, but today seemed even more exhilarating. And she knew it had to do with the fact of the new friend that was flying beside her.
Chuckling, she performed a back flip in the air, then circled around the phim. "I cannot wait to see your treasures Merrill...they must be very shiny to have caught your eye."
