Red nodded a bit towards Vanessa "Aye lassie I guess it does." Red looked up at the sky. He walked over next to her. He sat down just a few feet away from her. He leaned back on his arms staring at the sky "I've missed simple things like this."

Red watched her hand nodding "aye does look unfortunate." He closed his eye and sighed a bit. "That tends to happen Then you get hit by a ship and wash up on shore." He looked to her "usually don't talk about it."

Red looked at her and slowly nodded a bit "When I was 24 I got knocked off a dock while carrying cargo onto a ship. I got knocked off when the mast swung free and fell onto me. While I was sinking in the sea I closed my eyes and tried to push the metal cargo box off of me. Next thing I know I'm on the shore my face bleeding. I took some of the silk and cloth from the box and wrapped my head up in it and left my home town forever. Ever since these bandages have been my identity." He rubbed his neck with his left hand. "And now you know lassie why I wear em. The problem is they had my funeral that same day I disappeared into the water. The next week my parents died same day I washed up on shore. That is the reason. My parents died thinking I was dead so I didn't go back."

John looks at the girl then the boy and reaches in a bag taking out two bottles of rum. He stood up and stumbled over to them trying not to fall down. Then he pushed one bottle into the girls arms and one into the boys once he was sure they had them he turned and stumbled back to where he was sitting.

John raised his bottle then began to drink. He drank until the bottle was half empty then he took a small breath and stood up walking to the end of the port where no ship sat. once there he poured the rest of the bottle into the ocean as he always did then he threw the bottle as far as he could.
