She had expected perhaps some agreement on the slinkiness of the dress, but color her surprised when he offered something even more than that. The color was too dark against her skin? She looked down to the fingers that still touched the fabric.
He was right actually! The color would have looked nice with her hair, but with her skintone.. now that she looked. "Oh. I definately see what you mean. Thank you."
She shifted to give him an appreciative nod before digging through the rack again.
After a few moments she pulled out one and then two more, this time turning specifically to show him, holding each in front of her. "What do you think of these colors?" One was a watery brilliant blue, the other a shimmery white.
If they could choose a good color first they could worry about design later.

Remaining close by the young lady he was accompanying, but still at a respectable distance, he waited for her to offer the next options. This time around, she had selected 2 different dresses. Though on their own, both dresses were quite lovely, as she shifted to hold one in front of her, then the other, he couldn't help but mentally note some observations. It took him about a minute to place his observations, then he offered them to Aurora.
"My preference of the two colors would be the blue one. It is not quite the same color as your eyes, but the bright colors bring out all of your features quite splendidly. No one feature feels as if it is getting drowned out or overwhelmed by the color of your dress. My concern with the white dress is that it will make your skin appear much darker than it is, as well as it matches your hair. It will make your hair seem less noticeable amidst a larger portion of white, unless you can find a way to break up the white with another color."
With his mother being a model, he had quite a bit of experience with this sort of critical thought being put into the simplest outfits. He blew into the hole on the lid of his tea.

((I forgot what the dress looked like sooo.. just incase you did too XD http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/Iris_virus/aurorapromdress.jpg )) After his first comment, she certainly expected more than a 'ehh that's fine', so she waited eagerly for his opinion, nodding softly when it was finally offered. His words definately made sense, her hair would blend quite a bit. Setting the white one back, she took another look at the blue, pausing for a moment in front of a nearby mirror to see it for herself. She'd always been a fan of blues and purples anyway.
"I do like this color quite a bit. But I'm not so sure on the style."
"I know for sure I don't want something short.. or with a large slit in it. But I don't know.. Fitted, mermaid style bottom." He probably knew what she meant, but just incase she fished through the dresses before finding one with the tight fit all the way down to the calves before it flared out and holding it in front of her.
"Or something a little more wide maybe? I don't think I really want something too huge and unmanagable... but.."

((I totally cheated and looked up your post from the actual Prom RP xd heart ))
Howl's head nodded as she gave him the list of various styles she did not want, taking note of them in his head. No short dresses and no large slits. The fact that these two features were on her list of things she did not want certainly showed she was a modest girl.
"Give me one moment, Miss Namid."
He walked up to the rack and began to sort through them. Heaven forbid that any of his Hillworth classmates show up and see him sorting through the women's clothing. Oh, they would have a field day with teasing him relentlessly over such. Sticking to similar color schemes that seemed suited to Aurora, he eventually located five dresses. He carefully draped each one over his arm, making certain to not let his beverage spill on any of the clothing he was now holding.
Once he had finished, he then offered the arm he had the dresses resting upon to his momentary companion. "Sometimes the wisest thing to do in such a situation is to try on several dresses to see how they look."

Aurora waited, watching curiously as Howl picked through the racks himself, maybe trying to peek just a little at his selection.
When he finally returned, offering to her the small stack of dresses, she nodded to his wise advice. "Thank you. I won't take too long." She certainly recalled his mentioning of having someplace to be eventually and she didn't want to hold him up.
Scurrying off to the small changing room, she waited until one of the ladies let her in.
All five were lovely choices. And as she tried each one on Aurora noted what she liked most about each dress. One had a beautiful fabric that swished so elegantly about her legs. Another had the most beautiful bodice decor. But when the last one was fully zipped on and she turned gently in the mirror, the choice was made for her.
The beautiful mingling of blues and purples, both colors she tended to favor in her wardrobe... The soft sparkle and glimmer of the fabric and accents. It wasn't the most modest dress in the world, but it certainly left enough for the imagination, especially if she found some sort of shawl to cover her shoulders a bit. All and all it was beautiful, and a soft, pleased smile rested upon her face as she made her way out of the dressing room to the awaiting young man.
"What do you think?" Her fingers pinched the fabric delicately as she walked closer to him, giving a bit of a half turn when she had his attention. "I think this one is my favorite."
Hopefully it wasn't just her. Thinking about putting the dress back on the rack and having to try again was actually a little sad.

Being a gentleman, he remained a decent distance away from the changing rooms so he didn't seem like a pervert, but at the same time, he remained close enough to signal that he was waiting for a lady companion to finish trying on clothing. During that time, he continued to blow into the hole for his cup of tea, and eventually felt safe enough to start drinking the room temperature liquid. Now that he had his tea, he most certainly was occupied enough to not be bothered by the task of waiting.
Eventually, Miss Namid stepped out of the changing area to show off one of the dresses. It most definitely did her quite a bit of justice. The color suited her, the dress itself was not skimpy, and it even seemed to bring out a slight undertone of color to her hair, which he had not predicted it would do. Overall, he could not supply any sort of criticism dealing with this dress.
"I think that I might have a proposal for you, Miss Namid. Would you be willing to hear the proposal out?"

There wasn't a look of disgust or even critique as he took in the dress and the girl, so despite him not saying anything positive right off the bat Aurora didn't feel the need to slink back into the changing room. Truthfully even without it it was probably better then shopping with some other guys, and even girls, who would parrot empty compliments just to get everything over and done with.
His question brought a curious look to her face. Proposal? She couldn't even imagined what it would be about, but after all his help she couldn't possibly say no to just hearing it.
"Of course I'll hear you out Howl." She offered with a soft smile, brushing back a bit of hair as she waited.

There were ways he could state this proposal which would have made it sound quite a bit tackier than it was. He could have brought forth the fact that Miss Aurora Namid had no date to the prom, despite looking for a dress for herself. However, that would have only brought out some sort of frown if anything.
So instead, he approached the proposal from another direction. His eyes were upon hers as he spoke.
"Miss Namid, you see, I have a bit of trouble, and I am curious if you would be willing to assist me. Where as I rather enjoy formal events such as school dances and would go regardless, I do not have a young lady to escort me, as is proper. I know this is only our second meeting, but would you be willing to accompany me to the prom? I have seen your lovely dress, and to be quite honest, I do already have a cummerbund that would match."
There was a brief pause in which he took a sip of his tea before he clarified one more thing.
"If you would like to consider it a date, that is fine. However, I think I would like to consider it something a bit more platonic than a date, since the word itself has implications these days."

It wasn't exactly the thing of fairy tales. Not the kind of things a silly girl dreamed about and pictured in her head for such things. In those daydreams the boy would be head over heels, grasp you by the hand, maybe even offer some flowers as they asked you... no almost begged you go to the prom with them!
Nonetheless, there was no disappointment in her eyes as the offer sounded, in fact quite the opposite. There was surprise, the soft arching of her eyebrows as her eyes widened a little, her lips puckering questioningly for a brief moment. And then came the excitement, her hands clasping together.
"Of course I'd be happy to escort you Howl! Or to be escorted by you."
"Absolutely platonic" She agreed with a soft wave of her hand. It wasn't that she didn't think he was handsome.. actually from their two meetings he'd proven to be quite wonderful in fact. Perhaps someday they could even evolve to something past platonic, at least from her point of view. But if assuring him of chaste platonicness was the price for actually having an escort to the last official dance of her highschool life then it was a price worth paying!!
Besides.. he was right in a way. If Aurora knew what most teens did on prom night she'd probably choke on her tongue.
"Let me get this dress off and get it paid for and we can discuss the details but... yes. Definately definately yes!"

Simply based off her reactions, it was quite evident that this young lady had not been asked on too many dates, no matter how platonic they were intended to be. Some young ladies when asked simply feigned disinterest. Others would reject because they had better offers. However, he was not about to sound ungrateful over the fact that Aurora was not a seasoned date aficionado.
With a small bow of the head, he replied "Thank you, Miss Namid. I assure you that I will not disappoint you as your escort." With that, he backed away, as if to signal that he was not about to stop her from going back to the changing room.

With the sudden boost of excitement it did not take long for Aurora to change back into her own clothing, carefully placing the dress back on the hanger before she reappeared once more. As it turned out she was happy enough with the dress that it didn't need much altering, and the size was already good, so when she arrived at the counter to purchase it she was met with a very pleased seamstress/cashier.
Dress paid for, she returned to Howl once more, her expression no less excited however. A large dress bag dangled from one arm, and her hand motioned towards the door that would lead them back out into the mall. "I know you said you needed to be some place. So maybe it'd be best to exchange phone numbers?"

By the time his escort for prom had returned to him, his cup of tea was finally emptied to the halfway point. As she mentioned phones, Howl didn't let on that he didn't have one readily available. He still lived off of a calling card due to Hillworth's strict rules about cell phones (though his roommate seemed to completely ignore such rules with how much texting he did).
"I have left my phone elsewhere at the moment. However, it would actually be easier to reach me by email. Hopefully you do not mind." He extended his arm to Aurora, much like how he had in the tea shop, signaling that he'd at least escort her out of the dress shop.

Texting... Aurora herself was a bit.. inept in all the technological nuasances herself. Really her senshi cellphone was used far more often than her regular one. But that was beyond the point.
"Email is fine" She nodded, taking his arm lightly. "I don't actually have a computer in my dorm room but they have plenty of computer labs scattered around Crystal."
"And then we don't have to worry about schedules and bothering each other at inoppurtune times."
Luckily her email address was pretty simple, just one given to her by the school when she first arrived. ANamid@CrystalA.edu. And considering their first meeting it should have been easy for him to remember. Addresses exchanged and store exited Aurora paused to let him go in case he was headed in the other direction. "Thank you kindly for all your help Howl. And for.. well you know."
"I guess I'll be speaking to you soon enough via email. Thanks again."
