Chaonis saw her falling and actually reached out to try and grab her, but that would have just meant letting go of the branch, which didn't help, either. He switched to hold on to the branch, thinking she might grab hold of it again in panic, but that failed as well.

She fell and hit the ground.

And then she fell again.

"Hey!" He called down after her, moving to the tree and scaling down it quickly. He wasn't going for grace, just getting down as fast as he could. He leaped from the tree to what remained of the platform, glad that it didn't give way as well when he landed. He must have reached a reinforced part.

"Grus?"

He saw her on the floor below, staring down at her. He wasn't sure if he should jump down there with her, or if she was hurt, or if she was messing with him. Would she be messing with him? Certainly it wouldn't be past him to do something like that, to scare someone, but he didn't think she had meant to fall so far. Or through a floor.

"I wouldn't have bothered finding that branch for you if I had known you were just going to end up back on the ground," he called, seeing her eyes open. He leaped down after a moment, standing near her and offering her his hand. He didn't ask her if she was alright, but his eyes read clear enough that he was concerned. He was, at least, capable of feeling that.

Grus heard another voice, one much deeper than the voice from her dream. She faded back to unconsciousness, letting the blackness take over her bruised body. The next moment she was aware of, her eyes opened, but the pain didn't recede. The speaker was a lot closer now. She blinked, her vision still blurry from the fall, and flinched as a shape came into view. It formed into a hand as her vision cleared, and she reached her own shaky hand out to grasp it.

"C'mon get up! Your not gonna let one little fall make you cry right?" The same scene, only everything seemed bigger. But everything was bigger when you were smaller. Wiping tears with the back of her hand. Reaching for another's offer of help. The boy with the funny looking clothes who helped grinned widely, trying to keep her from crying again...

"You know on my planet...."

She gasped at the same moment she grabbed Chaonis's outstretched hand. Grus almost didn't hear what Chaonis said, but she caught the tail end of it and offered a weak smile. "Yeah, I wasn't expecting to miss my grip. Or for the floor to fall out from under me." Rising her head upward to stare at the whole she created hurt her neck, so her look at her way to the ground was brief. Instead she looked at Chaonis, and said "You didn't fall, did you?"

Chaonis arched an eyebrow at her. She seemed dazed. If she had hurt herself he was not going to play nurse: he had no idea how to care for a broken head. Not that he saw any blood or anything, which was disappointing in a way. It made the whole idea of her knocking the senses out of her own head even more disappointing because she hadn't managed to do it in a spectacular way.

Of course, he didn't really want her to hurt herself, but if she was going to be a clutz anyway...

He helped her up carefully, making sure she didn't topple over again. He wouldn't help her up a second time. He scoffed and shook his head. "Yeah, that giant branch I was holding really close to you was a real easy thing to miss. I can see how you would be surprised, though. Still, I didn't think you weighed a floor splintering amount. You sure you didn't hurt yourself?"

Concern hidden under mocking. That was just how he rolled.

"No, I didn't fall. I have balance."

She stuck her tongue out at him childishly, but not insulted as he may not have realized he called fat. And if he did...well she was going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

"I..think I'm ok." She said, running a mental check for injuries while ignoring the fact that her fuku was trashed. Which made her head pound. "My head definitely hurts, and my butt." She offered a weak smile, which faltered as another throb from her head washed over her. "But I'm sure I'll be alright. I think I even had a dream..or vision since I don't think I was asleep. Did unconscious people dream?

She tried to remember just what she had seen, but her head wasn't letting the information go easily. Slowly it came to her though. The fall, the kid laughing, the same boy cheering her up....

She gazed at Chaonis strangely. "Have you..ever been to your planet?"

Chaonis frowned.

"At least you can take comfort in knowing it takes some skill to fall and land on your butt and your head. So. You're good at falling."

He sighed a bit, relieved that she seemed coherent now. He was still human, despite his best attempts to appear more than that. Or if he believed otherwise. He watched her, slipping back into his easy sarcasm, rather than his defensive or scared sarcasm.

"You had a dream? You must not have been unconscious..." he didn't really know, but he figured that if you were out like a light you weren't lucid enough to even have dreams. He didn't think too hard about it, though. She said she had a dream, and she had been out, so whatever they defined it as was irrelevent and they were just wasting time.

"My planet?" he bristled, "not yet. I've been to Rosalind's and Asclepius's though. Why?" He seemed tense, like he thought she was going to tease him for not going back to his own planet. He hadn't gone back because he chose not to, and not for any sissy reason. Damn it.

She seemed to not hear him, she was thinking hard, looking off into the trees. The sun was pretty high up, but the leaves made he shade delightful. But she did hear him, and after a moment, she said cautiously "I think.....you've been to my planet before."

The pause before her next sentence was a long one, long enough to give Chaonis some time to think on this.

"When I had my...whatever that was..there was a kid with me." She explained "A boy, probably a little older than me. He looked..kinda like you." Her deep blue eyes were questioning as she stared up at him. "But why would someone that looked like you be on my planet?"

It didn't make sense. If he was from his planet and she was from hers....and they had never met before a few months before.

Grus thought that this senshi thing was getting a lot more complicated.

Chaonis looked perplexed.

"I've never been to your planet before," he reminded, "I couldn't get here without you, so I didn't rig that floor to fall or anything you might be thinking of blaming on me."

Of course he jumped to the worst possible explanation for her comment. He thought she meant the present him, and that he had come here just to make her life hard. While that was a very Chaonis thing for someone to do, he was not going to take credit for that one.

It took her further explanation for him to process her meaning. He knew that planets came with memories, and some kind of life they had lived before. Part of the reason he hadn't been back to his own, maybe. But it seemed that history would come to light where ever he was.

"I don't know. I would have been from my planet, not yours. Obviously. Dreaming about me?" He grinned at her.

She smiled again and stuck her tongue out at him, but behind the smile she was thinking. The pain in her head had subsided, though her back and butt still throbbed angrily.

So what if she did? That thought made her shake her head, like a horse shooing a fly from it's ear. That was him kidding. Kidding!

So what if she thought he was cute?

He had the wrong idea. "I don't mean sometime soon." She said, rubbing the back of her head where a goose egg had formed. That was going to be a hard thing to explain to her dad. Her focus went back to talking about her vision. "I mean, he looked like you only...smaller." She lowered her hand, holding it about hip height.

"Like this small." She said, looking from her hand to Chaonis. "I think....we were kids!" Her confusion gave way to excitement and she practically bounced on her feet in front of him "What if we were friends before? Maybe we knew eachother a waaayyyyy long time ago!"

Then she looked puzzled "He said I wouldn't get picked if I kept falling..so our civilian identities weren't hidden...or maybe I wasn't born with the power sphere..."

Chaonis frowned. He had no experience with memories of the past, at least not yet, so his ability to relate to what she was telling him was limited at best. He looked at her skeptically, as if suspecting it was some kind of trap still.

"Well, that would explain the mini me, unless you have a thing for midgets," he grunted, watching her as she bounced. He wasn't sure what he thought about the whole past life thing, much less his own. If she was right, then he had been on this planet for some period, for some reason. Why?

For the first time, he found he wanted to visit his own planet. Maybe to find out why he wasn't on it. At least now it seemed he was more alike with his part life self, if there really was something like that, then he would have guessed.

"Huh." He found it hard to focus on her thoughts when he was still wondering why his past life version had been here, and seemed to know about this planet. "Well, I guess he was wrong, eh?" He grinned.

Grus laughed, and then tried to stretch. Her back muscles protested being unknotted, but only a slight whimper escaped her. When she had shaken herself out a little, she realized how dang hot it had gotten.

The sun wasn't visible above, suggesting late morning/early afternoon. Which meant it was late night/early morning back on Earth. The fog hadn't dissipated; in fact it swirled about them like a blanket, trapping the heat from the sun among the red ferns and pooling into the flowers to make them sparkle.

She wiped her hand across her forehead, grimacing. "It's starting to get hot." She said, shaking her arms to attempt to get airflow into the not-quite-sleeves she wore on her arms. "I don't stay much longer past right about now mostly because it's freakin hot. And also because it's very late back home."

"Shall we go back then?" She asked Chaonis, turning away from the now more broken ruins. I guess the second floor will have to wait until next time. she thought. Maybe I'll being more rope...

Casting a glance over her shoulder, Grus called "Unless you wanna hang around my planet forever?"

"Apparently I've already spent more than enough time here," He countered, and though he was grinning there was a thoughtful light in his eyes. He would have to go to his own planet, someday, to figure all this out for certain.

Or as close to it as he could get.

Just not now.

He nodded his head and moved toward her, glancing around one more time before he sighed and folded his arms over his chest. He looked impatient, like she was the one holding him up, even though she was asking him if he wanted to hang out a bit more.

"Let's get out of here, then."

He put his hand on her arm then, letting his other arm fall to his side. He would hitch a ride back to earth, and then get himself home. And stop thinking about it for now. He'd do as he always did: tell himself he'd worry about it later, and never get around to it.

She noted when he was holding on, and pushed the button to send them home. A couple of blinks later, and they were back in the park, though a few yards from where they had left Earth.

Grus looked around quickly, making sure no one saw them arrive. When she was sure they were alone, and Chaonis had let go, she turned and said "Thank you. For coming with me to my planet. I mean, if you hadn't been there..maybe I wouldn't have seen what I had."

Granted, it brought up more questions than answers. Questions she wasn't sure she could answer just yet....maybe if she went back a couple more times. Or when she was Eternal, like Chaonis.

A pause and with a wide smile she said "And I'm glad to know that I at least had friends a long time ago."

She was glad. Some days, she imagined being a Senshi a lonely profession. If you were the only one with powers on the entire planet or star, how easy was it to make real friends? You had responsibilities that no one else could imagine. But it didn't seem that way. Maybe on Grus she was treated just like everyone else.

Starting to back away, she said "And hey, if you ever go to your planet, lemme know ok? I'd like to see a place that needed a Senshi of Danger to protect them."

Chaonis nodded his head.

"Yeah, well."

He could probably say thank you for bringing him with her, but he wasn't that kind of a guy. He didn't think too much about others, and now that he had a lot of other stuff to think about... it was too difficult to want to address right away. He wanted to ignore what he had learned for now.

When she spoke about having friends he looked at her. He nodded his head. Had he been her friend in a past life? It seemed so, at least, from what she told him. he would definitely have to go to his own planet sometimes.

"Yeah, sure thing. I'll drag you there whenever I do. I dunno when." He shrugged. At least he wasn't lying. But he would go eventually, and he probably would like some company. He grinned, shaking off the blues that came with too deep of thought.

"Alright, I'm heading out. See you later."

"Ok, I'll see you around then."

She turned and walked back out of the park, toward her house. She paused about halfway, powering down so as to not draw suspicion. Because a random girl walking alone in the middle of the night wasn't strange at all right?

She got home just fine, and collapsed into her bed, thinking deeply about her planet. A smile crossed her lips at the memory of the red and white flowers. Castille drifted to sleep lost in a world of feathery white petals.
