Nero continued, realizing the thumbs tip was for Tora, the Tiger. Grinning, he immediately began practicing it. It felt great. It felt natural to Nero, who could feel his chakra moving with the seal being performed correctly.
Yes. Finally. One of the most important seals, is now complete! He thought to himself, suddenly excited to continue practicing. He had so many ideas for what he could do with the handseals, as any kid would, he was anxious to finish and begin working on Jutsu.
Grinning, he continued to work on the hand seals, taking no breaks, focusing intently to get them finished as soon as possible.

Nero grinned, he was cruising now. He had gotten 4 handseals done, and was feeling in the zone. He had 8 more to go, he was 1 3rd done, and didn't plan on stopping until he was completely finished, regardless of how boring it was, or how tedious the reading was. He looked over at Inori, who was at about the same stage as Nero, but Inori had help, and Nero didn't. There were plenty of older Fubuki in the library, there was probably 2 or 3 others in there with them, for a total of about 5 or 6 people in the library.
I'm on my way there...just a little bit longer... He thought to himself, almost halfway done. He looked down at his list, and crossed out the Dragon seal from the list of the 12 handseals, happy about getting it out of the way, he continued, chugging along with the training.

Nero began to practice Uma, the horse. It was one of the hardest seals to do quickly, as it involved opening of the fingers, and insertion of one hand in between the fingers of the other.
He, personally, found the hand seal quite impractical, and inconvenient to use, but it was also one of the most commonly used.
Suddenly, he heard somebody say "Right, Nero?" Though he wasn't paying attention to the context. He looked up at Hatsuyuki and laughed. "Umm...yea...right. Of course!" He said, unconvincingly. "What exactly is it that's right? I was umm....distracted." He said, smiling.
He continued to practice his handseals, paying more attention to everybody, sitting next to them, as opposed to on the far end of the table, where it was easy to be distracted as they were harder to hear. It was a library, so they were being pretty quiet, so even a few feet away, it was very hard to hear them.

"Ambient chakra transformation...?" Inquired Inori questioningly, looking up from the page describing the seal of the Rabbit. "So this seal is most commonly associated with techniques of a defensive type?" He watched as a thoughtful light filled the princess's eyes before she finally chose her words carefully.
"Mmn... You can imagine it as so. Ambient transformation isn't a real type, just one division of Yang nature transformation." Hatsuyuki paused a little, and then reminded him. "Do you remember what I mentioned? That Yang manipulation isn't just shape manipulation. What you are looking at is a sub-classification the shinobi world gave to "gentle" chakra - or chakra that aids in restorative healing. For example, Esei arts will fall under this."
"Esei arts..." Blinked Inori. "Shinobi can heal?"
"Of course..." Replied Hatsuyuki. "Shinobi doctors are the most famous in the world, with the power to bring one back from the brink of death, or even those who have gone to the beyond. Of course..." Says the princess quietly. "That comes with a terrible price. Shinobi only perform the "fragments" because it is really all they can do. To trespass the boundaries..." She paused. "You must understand, yin and yang chakra manipulation is very, very dangerous."

"Sorry, Hatsuyuki-sama. I wasn't paying attention." Nero said, as if it wasn't already obvious. He looked down at his hands, they looked awkward doing the horse seal. He frowned slightly, looking up at Hatsuyuki.
"Hatsuyuki-sama, Hatsuyuki-sama! I need help with my handseals. Please!" He said, innocently, remembering to say please, and hoping she would forgive him for not paying attention earlier. He yawned, and continued working on his hand seals, slowly making progress.
He continued to fumble with his hands, hoping to get it by accident, and awaited a response from her, hoping she wouldn't be too mad at him.
After a few tries, he got it, and hoped that she could help with other handseals, because he got the horse.

It was fascinating, that was enough to be said. There was so much to learn about the shinobi world. Though at first he was uncomfortable by the young mistress of the clan's presence, now he seemed visibly glad that she was around to give him pointers. He proceeded to the Dragon seal, first observing closely the large portrait for what he can make out of the fingers. It seemed easy enough, first clasping his hands as if in almost prayer, and then extending the lower pinkies. The slightest half-nod of approval from Hatsuyuki confirmed this was indeed the correct Tatsu seal.
"It doesn't notate there, but the Ryu sign is common for water type manipulation." Explained Hatsuyuki. "Several water-based bloodlimits made our own variations of the Tatsu seal."
"You said your... Ice element was made from two, right?" Notated Inori.
"That's right... Wind and water. Very good." She smiled approvingly. "Our clan uses the Tatsu seal a lot."
That was when Nero called from the other side of the table. Hatsuyuki looked up, blue eyes questioning.
"What seal are you on?" Glancing at the upside-down image in Nero's book, she realized it was the serpent, the same seal this boy who was Nero's companion was moving on to. "The Mi seal? Just cross your thumbs on the other side."

"Like this?" Piped up Inori, showing her a reflection of the Mi seal in the book.
She examined his hands for a long moment, then peered at the back, before brightly noting:
"Yes. Very good! You're fairly natural at this - just relax it slightly more and you'll be able to increase seal forming speed."
Inori grinned, feeling rather proud of himself. He would ignore the flutter in his chest at her praise. Natural? Heck, he didn't even understand half of the terms and stuff in the books. But as Nero didn't have a chance to tell her he didn't come from a shinobi lineage, if a child of a shinobi lineage approved, that means he had a fair chance, didn't he? Granted, he didn't really enjoy this whole procedure or even imagine it very effective but who was he to complain?

The next seal that was up was Uma, the Horse. Inori peered at the large-scale image for a long moment, trying to figure out exactly where the knuckles of the fingers should balance. He noticed how what the small girl from earlier pointed out was true: indeed there was something particular about connecting the two hands. After trying for a few moments, frustration grew as the knuckle keep slipping out of where they should be cushioned. What was wrong? Was he perhaps looking at the image wrong? But then again, what the smaller Fubuki child had said earlier returned to haunt his mind.
He began leafing through the book for the pages on the body's chakra system. In wonder, his eyes widened as he observed just how alike the body's chakra system was to the pressure point nodes. He had read from eastern medicine books that striking the pressure points with acupuncture can help induce quicker healing, because certain organs of the body will be stimulated. It would seem then that the pressure points actually derived from some of the body's tenketsu, as he could locate all of the pressure point nodes about where he last remembered the locations of pressure points. There was a footnote at the bottom of the diagram (commissioned Hyuuga Inaegi).

Nero was zoning out for a minute, staring at the wall. He snapped back and followed her advice of crossing his fingers. "Like this? Or....like this?" He said, crossing his fingers two separate ways, unsure of which way she meant.
He looked up at Inori, and yawned, attempting to learn the seals quicker, to be able to have free time later to use them to practice jutsu, and to perfect them completely, so the training would not be forgotten.
He grinned, and continued, feeling confident.

Nero sighed, unable to feel his chakra, which indicated he didn't get the seal correct at all. No chakra was flowing, so he showed her, and she helped him out again, telling him simply to cross his fingers the first way he had done, as it was the correct way.
"Thanks! Now if only I could feel the chakra...." He began, fumbling with the rest of his fingers.
He grinning, starting to feel something, unsure of whether or not he got it right.

Nero grinned widely. He could feel it, the chakra was flowing, the seal was 100% correct. Using his mind, he took a mental picture, memorizing it, for quick use. He practiced it a few more times, getting to the point where in a fraction of a second, he could perform the serpent, able to make full use of it as a handseal for jutsus.
He moved on to the next one. Looking to the side, he could see he was ahead of Inori in hand seals, and grinned. Inori's competitive nature was definitely rubbing off on him, but...was that necessarily such a bad thing?
He continued, moving on to the next seal on the list, the rabbit.

Nero groaned and pouted slightly, unable to figure out the rabbit handseal. He looked to the book to see exactly how it was done, but still couldn't figure it out. He tried a few times, before asking for help.
"Hatsuyuki....how do I make the rabbit? My chakra isn't flowing when I make it. I don't think I'm connecting it right...." He said, tiredly.
He was in the mood for a nap. He had missed his nap and had been tired all day long.
However; He continued, as the thought of the reward for learning the handseals, jutsu, was worth working for, and continued to fumble through the exercise.

"Nevermind, I got it. Yea, this is definitely it." He said, feeling the familiar sensation of the chakra flowing in his body with a finished successful handsign.
He grinned, scratching it out with his pencil, happy to be done with it. He yawned, he was getting quite tired, but he couldn't stop now, not now or any time soon. He kept going, being fast, yet efficient, continuing to practice.

The funniest thing was, the fact that stood out to him most was that there were tenketsu nodes right on the joints of the fingers. Slowly, it dawned upon him the words of that small Fubuki child from before. She said it for the Tora seal before, didn't she? That the thumbs at the back were "crossed over each other" to help the chakra flow navigate out of the body. In a way then, this probably was a respective characteristic of all the seals. The princess seemed amused, and he couldn't help but give her an odd look.
"Oh nothing." Replied the girl serenely, before getting up, went to get herself a book to read from a nearby isle. Inori frowned to himself, not sure exactly what he was examining amused her so much. But with a shrug, he continued on to read the Fubuki annotations on the Horse seal, curiously noting to himself this was the first time Genjutsu was mentioned. So the seal of the horse was very common to Yin manipulation?
As she returned, his puzzlement seemed to entertain her more.
"What?" Said Inori, rather grumpily.
"Nothing..." She replied serenely. "I just thought it was interesting that you take such notice of footnotes."
At this moment, she chose to eye Nero critically.
"Excellent..." She said softly. "After all, you should know that chart is as accurate as the shinobi world can get. Our ancestors commissioned a Hyuuga who was very reluctant... They're the only family in the world who can see the chakra system of the body."
Her fingers pointed to the page on the Horse seal.
"This is one of the seals the younger Hyuuga often use to activate their bloodlimit - Bykaugan, an eye-type bloodlimit. Or that's what the shinobi world would call "doujutsu" - the originator of Yin manipulation."
Inori tilted his head lightly aside.
"You speak as if I don't know what is that."
A smile curved her lips.
"The way you pore over these volumes is not that of a shinobi." She paused. "In a way, it's like a child discovering an all new world."

A...child! Thought Inori grumpily. Just because the stupid government wanted to make a failure out of him by placing him with much younger kids didn't mean he was like them. He seethed inwardly, quite offended for the fact of the matter, but decided to not comment on it. He proceeded to the next seal, Hitsuji, the Ram. It was fairly easy to follow the picture - or was that because he knew enough basics of the seals to consider the pattern of which they form now? If he thought about it, the seals seemed to flow smoothly from one to another.
After returning to routine and practicing the seal a few times, he began trying again all the ones he already knew, just to get started on memorizing them. Several times he did stop to fix small mistakes, but when satisfied that he can perform eight of the twelve seals without trouble, he proceeded on then to read the description on the Ram seal. There was so much to learn, and so little time... He couldn't afford valuable time to be wasted by the Fubuki princess for small talk or idle jokes.
Yes, despite his nonchalant disregard of Andou's indignation of skipping class, Inori was very well aware he had to work harder and better than anyone else in order to survive the transitional tide into this new world.
