Love does funny things? XD
Xi Lan got the feeling that his laughter had offended Chaos or at least she thought he was laughing at her. He didn’t want her to keep on thinking it when it wasn’t the case. “Ah I fear you think I was laughing at you. No it was more at the whole notion of thinking about my Grandfather trying to broaden my horizons or anything like trying to make a fox better. The idea was just soo completely different from my grandfather that it caught me off guard and I ended up laughing.” He explained hoping that would clear up some things. He knew from some of their previous talks that chaos some times missed some things that had to do with social situations and what foxes should think and what they actually did. “I hope the laughter didn’t offend you too much, its just like I said thinking of my grandfather in that light I just couldn’t help myself. I hope you never meet him to see what I am talking about but…” Xi lan trailed off.

He wondered if this shrine was important to Chaos. She seemed to visit it a lot, or at least that was the feeling he got. After all she knew where it was located and the general atmosphere of the place. “Alright, I don’t have anything to do at the moment, relaxing might be good” he nodded he wasn’t too hungry and hadn’t been for a while but that was nothing new either. Kaname often got worried over the fact Xi lan didn’t eat much, enough to stay alive obviously but he could get distracted when in the midst of his hobbies and forget everything else. “Well I guess next thing to say would be lead the way?” Xi lan smiled waiting for her to move.

(*stare* right… She was never supposed to be this ah… I don’t even know what she is anymore @.@)
Processing what Xi Lan said Chaos found herself curious as to what the grandfather was really like if Xi Lan thought the idea of the elder trying to expand Xi Lan’s horizon’s a joke? It was refreshing to know that Xi Lan was not laughing at her. Grateful he took the time to explain it all Chaos wondered if she would have understood had he not. The apology was unexpected and in Chaos’s mind unnecessary, but she supposed that it was a not optional social obligation of a sort given the potential for misunderstandings in the given situation. Chaos made a mental note to avoid or if need be flee from Xi Lan’s grandfather. Her phim friend clearly had a bad impression of his own grandfather if he wished Chaos never to met him, so silently Chaos hoped she never did.

A smile graced Chaos’s face as the male agreed to come to the shrine. She was feeling even brighter than before. She wondered what he would think of it. The calm shrine, it’s reflection pond that caught the light just so at all hours of day and night. Even the strange little human contraption that made clacking sounds whenever it filled up with water and emptied out. All if it was Chaos’s domain since she found it. She wanted to show it all to Xi Lan, though figured that showing him everything would not only be impossible, but could be annoying to him. The female definitely did not wish to annoy the only fox who took the time to explain things and warn her of dangerous things. She turned and started back for the shrine at a trot. Her own emotions confusing her more than she thought possible.

His grandfather always brought up slightly unpleasant memories. Well not exactly in his case but more the worry and stress he felt for everyone around him. It would normally cause him to laugh bitterly that even when the others and him had staged their epic escape his grandfather still found ways to pop up in his life. Of course it was down weirding out and confusing Chaos, really there was nothing to be gained by the whole thing and it put him in a nasty mood. One thing Xi lan hated. After all he had to be the happy one that supported and helped Amatsu in making the others happy. After all if it weren’t for them Meris, Kaname, and morin would be grump meisters. A safer topic was definitely in order… like the place he was getting lead to, this should be safe enough right?
Xi lan wondered if this was where chaos lived. If it was had he really been to a girl’s den before. Well he supposed not, after all he really didn’t have too many girl friends. Come to think of it he was pretty sure the only two girls he knew where Hiyoko and Chaos, he hadn’t really met his friends mates or he wasn’t close enough to call them friends. Sure he had gone to Hiyoko’s place to drop her off when she had somehow gotten herself intoxicated. He supposed it should be like visiting the rest of his friends, only didn’t you have to behave slightly different when visiting. Of course it could just be a place chaos had found and all his musing was for naught. Plus why should he act any different than usual, it was just visiting a place. Well Chaos seemed slightly excited to show it off, so maybe just a place wasn’t a good description.

Chaos followed the path she had taken before she ran into Xi Lan. When she got back to the stone path the humans made she pointed to the place that held many human dens and humans. “That way is where the humans live.” With that said she turned away from the path to the city and headed back up the massive amount of stone steps that lead to her home. The barrage of confusing thoughts still continued. What if Xi Lan didn’t like it? What if something had happened while she was away and the shrine was now a mess? What if? What if? There were so many what ifs that Chaos was feeling worried. Worry was a strange emotion. Even though logically she knew that nothing could have occurred in her short time away from the shrine she still pondered all the bad things that could have happened. A raccoon-dog could have wandered in and tipped things over. A stray bird of prey could have gotten one of the fish and left the carcass next to shore. Having Xi Lan see any of those things would have mortified Chaos.

During her walk up the steps she remained quiet, yet she was still excited and scared, her tail twitched occasionally and her pace was faster than usual. When she reached the top of a the steps and stepped through the large wooden archway that was the entrance to the shrine grounds she gave a small sigh of relief that everything seemed to be in order. “This way.” Choas took Xi Lan up the steps of the aged wooden shrine. The building was in superb condition with the wood looking as though the shrine had been build in the recent decade. Gently Chaos slid open the door leading to the main room. “If you wait here I will be happy to bring you some food.”

Xi lan looked off in the direction she pointed as it was only fair to do so when being given a tour. Plus knowing where humans tended to congregate was a good thing as well. Just in case he ever decided to go that way. His eyes darted slowly taking in the scenery. It looked like a good place to live. Hmm speaking of which he should probably get a place of his own some time in the near future. He was hardly the drifter type and yet really he had no place of his own at the moment. Looking back at Chaos he wondered if she seemed worried. However it was probably his imagination after all what would she have to be worried about? Then again she was showing him her den or special place; perhaps she thought he wouldn’t like it. Well homes tended to be places foxes where proud of. So then the worry made sense Xi lan supposed. He chuckled a bit, he would never find another fox’s home in poor taste or unsuitable, after all a fox lived there and if it was good enough for them, then he was fine with it.

Well it was back to being quite, but that was okay. Unlike some of his other friends talking didn’t have to be big on his list. Meris was never a big talker and certainly Morin and Kaname didn’t talk. Well unless they really had to. They were the silent broody types. He felt kind of sorry for the poor humans if they ever lived here, although the structure was man made so Xi lan assumed so. “Alright” he replied still following her. It was definitely a very pretty place. Xi lan had always been partial to Asian designs coming from the region himself. Well a bit of food wouldn’t hurt right? “Okay, I don’t need too much but I’ll wait here” he smiled.

“Certainly.” Chaos slid the door shut and hurried down the hall. The bell by her throat jingled clearly in the peaceful atmosphere. It was the only testament to her hurry. She hurried to the room in which she kept the offering the humans left, as well as the food she herself gathered. Ever since she started living in the shrine those who came only occasionally to pray had started bringing food bits and leaving them for her by the wooden archway which she sat on when humans came. They also brought food and left it before the shrine, though she never touched that feeling that it was left for something else. The little animals who lived near the shrine didn’t mind they ate it with glee.

She gathered the food and placed on the tare of her obi and carried it bundled up. When she arrived back at the main room she took out and deposited the food items before Xi lan. The food the humans brought were individual rice balls or dumplings wrapped in simple rice paper. The food she had gathered was berries and nuts mostly. She had nestled them next to the rice balls of dumplings so that it seemed each was a small complete snack in and of its self. Some of them even had one or two cherry blossom petals with them. She didn’t mention that she did this often since she felt that cherry blossoms where pretty. She hoped that Xi Lan liked them. “Please enjoy.” She placed some for herself opposite him. She then sat down to eat herself. She unwrapped a rice paper covered dumpling. She had hurried so the wait wasn’t too long she thought, but then time is often quicker when doing something. Outside the deer scare clacked again

Xi lan tilted his head and watched the fish swim in the pond. Luckily for them he wasn’t really a koi kind of phim. He had noticed the bell jingling a bit more frequently and once again his thoughts shifted to Chaos. Was she nervous he was here? Then again it could be she hadn’t brought company here at all. He remembered vaguely when they first met and she wasn’t too good with social interactions. It was fine with him. He was used to very anti-social people. Kaname, Morin, and his own brother Meris were on the dictionary page of Anti-social. Kaname had gotten better mostly because of Amatsu. Chaos still had some work but that was okay. Everyone had their own pace and he didn’t mind the sometimes awkward air that floated between them.
Xi lan tilted his head to the side and looked at the new type of food. He had seen the items once when Meris had decided to go on an adventure with him and they had watched the humans eat them inside those weird structures. He noticed the cherry blossoms and smiled. He wondered if Chaos knew what cherry blossoms meant. He was pretty sure she didn’t as she seemed to be waiting for everything to be okay. Probably best not to tell her. He looked down at the food and picked up the closest rice ball and berries. Taking a small bite out of them he went and looked up at Chaos. “These are pretty good, thank you” he smiled continuing to munch on his snack. It was definitely a very serene place; peaceful too if the human footprints outside the shrine showed recent activity. Then again didn’t they also sometimes worship the deities as well? Kaname had talked about how he used to live with them in kemet. He should find something to talk about right but then chaos could be the type that liked to eat in silence. He looked up at a rather brave bird that seemed to want to go for his berry and gently tossed one over to it.

Inside a well of tension that Chaos didn’t even realize existed crumbled. “You are most welcome. Though I cannot take credit for them. The humans make such things and have left me such food when they come to this place.” She watched as Xi Lan tossed a berry at a bird. She smiled softly. She wouldn’t say it but she was in awe of him. Despite him not being in a place he knew he seemed so at ease. Out in the pond a koi jumped making a loud splash. Chaos tried to come up with something to talk about to her den guest. She felt like a terrible hostess, though in her own defense she was unaccustomed to be bringing foxes home. “Xi Lan if you don’t mind me asking, what is it that you see as you look out at this place?” While it was direct Chaos hoped for an honest answer as to how Xi Lan viewed her den. It was old and worn, but clean. She gestured with a paw outside as a stray cherry blossom danced across the yard, pulled along by the wind.

It might not be the best luncheon conversations in the world but Chaos was trying. She assumed it was what a good hostess would do, and as such was her job since Xi Lan was her guest. After the meal was over she made a list of places she complied a mental list of things she could show Xi Lan. Many of them were simple things around the shrine, one or two though required a stroll or a quick flight to get too.

(Short tag is short. I’m sorry.)

Xi lan smiled thinking her statement wasn’t intirely true. “Well you did go through the trouble of getting them and arranging them did you not? So you can take a little bit of credit for the work. After all your time did go into them” Xi lan replied his vision was drawn over by the fish for a few seconds before he noticed Chaos was speaking to him. Hmm what did he think of this place. “Well it seems like a well cared for place. It looks like it meant a lot to a human at one point in time, and now it looks like it means something to you too since you found it and decided to live here. I do admit its also quite peaceful. Sure I guess it has some worn down places but that just gives character and a story about the things that have chosen to reside here” Xi lan stated folding his wings more comfortably on his back. He had always loved history. Probably the reason Amatsu and he had always been on good terms. He picked up a sakura petal and looked at it.

Sakura’s always looked so peaceful and often where thought of as pretty. However they held dark secrets from their beauty, turned pink from the blood of fallen humans or animals buried beneath them. Well at least that’s what the rumor said. Hmm sorta like him no? Xi lan made a funny face wondering why he was comparing himself to a flower, before setting it on the ground and turning to face Chaos. “I think the place is very beautiful” he replied.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 23, 2011 3:48 pm

Blushing Chaos found she couldn’t look directly at Xi Lan when he said such things. “T-that may be true, however, any work I have done is minimal. I prefer to give credit to the one that put the most work into such things.” Choas listened to Xi Lan speak of the place with a soft smile touching her muzzle. He was right. This place was peaceful and it did have a lot of character. The humans who lived here before she came had taken good care of the place. When Chaos had found this place she had been tired hungry and near collapse. She had tried to settle other places after leaving the foxes she had grown up with, but the other places had so many other foxes or where so busy that the blue phim felt panicked even laying down. This place had been a blessing for her. She still remembered the day she found this place. Oddly enough it had been a cherry blossom drifting up in the wind and crossing her path that made her look down and see the shrine.

She watched as Xi Lan picked up and looked at a cherry blossom. She had always been taught that cherry blossoms were symbols of femininity and love (Chinese) and she wondered if Xi Lan knew of such symbolisms. She blushed just thinking about it. Seeing his face she worried that he did know and took the cherry blossoms to mean something more than the pretty decoration that Chaos had intended. His comment didn’t really make her feel at ease rather she was now panicking and hoping to try and fix things. She hurriedly interrupted the meal to distract him. “If you would like I could show you around. The shrine has a number of places that are just as pretty as viewing the blossoms here.”

Xi lan just smiled and dropped the subject. He would continue to hold his position but there was no arguing. Yes the humans had done all the work but then she had also done a bit of work herself. Well at least she seemed to like his explanation of the place. Hmm what was the term for a place like this? He had heard it once when his grandfather was teaching them things and being slightly grandfatherly for once. Meris would definitely remember. He was pretty sure it was something the lines of Zen. It almost put him in a sleep like mood or at least it had until he had thought of Meris. He really should go and meet up with his brother again. There hadnt been anyone trying to go after them for months and he did miss his older brother, even if they had been a bit estranged at the moment. He didn’t think he had told Chaos before about any part of his family but then again it wasn’t normally something one dumped on another.

He definitely preferred having friends coming to him and dumping their worries on him then telling others about his own problems. Perhaps it was a part of his training not to tell others about personal weakness. Suddenly he was drawn out of his thoughts by chaos asking him if he would like to see something else. “Well let me finish our snack and I would love to see more things” after all Xi lan loved collecting things. So he was always interested in seeing things, just to see what interested others. However right now he wanted to rest his feet a little bit. Walking around all day in a slight daze did not due ones feet any justice, especially when most of the time Xi lan was in the sky and not used to walking around.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 02, 2011 8:24 pm

Choas watched Xi Lan’s face. He seemed to be wavering in his own mind over things. Not that his muscles showed it. She smiled when he snapped out of his daze. He seemed to perk up. Her tail did a slow sweeping wag on the floor behind her. Blinking she allowed herself to relax and the scents of the place to invade her mind. The scent of the cherry blossoms wafted in and then there was the musky and masculine odor of the male phim sitting right across from her. She allowed her self to bask in his scent for a moment. It made her insides tense and feel uncommonly light. She felt her eyelids flutter before she opened her eyes once more. Unable to stop herself she felt a blush come across her cheeks. She instead focused on eating her snack so she wouldn’t have to look at Xi Lan. He was calm and collected and here she was with her mind wandering all over the place.

She decided then that she would spend the rest of the evening in deep meditation and contemplation. Perhaps that would clear her head and let her focus. She finished up her snack in silence. She wanted to move and to go, but at the same time curling up and relaxing sounded so good to especially with.. no she blinked and shook her head a mere fraction of an inch to clear it. The sooner she could escape the confines of the shrine and get to fresh air the better. She took a moment to breathe deeply. The shrine was peaceful and calm as always, so why now did she feel so stifled? Nothing had changed. Well that wasn’t true. She had brought home a friend. That alone wasn’t enough to upset things was it?

Xi lan munched away on his rice balls picking up the pace of his eating just a little bit. After all Chaos obviously wanted to go somewhere else or at least move along so he shouldn’t be too troublesome as a guest. Sure he knew of some foxes that tended to take the approach they could get away with a fair amount because its how manners dictated you take care of a guest but Xi lan was more gentlemanly than that he supposed. He always thought you should feel grateful they allowed you into their home and treat it with respect. If your host wanted to do something you had a little leeway but you should also go along with them. Xi lan watched Chaos out of the corner of his eye wondering if she was okay. She had been acting a bit strange for the last few minutes. He hoped he wasn’t that… peace disrupting. Some how he didn’t think that was the word he wanted at all.

However Chaos seemed to be sporting a blush. He wondered what the younger phim had to blush about. He had seen that look before on other females, often when he was younger and traveling around with his friends but mostly they where aimed at either Amatsu or Kaname. Then again Chaos didn’t really strike him as the type to blush for that reason. However he supposed she was a girl. Did she like him? Well that was kind of stupid after all she had once said if they didn’t find anyone else she wouldn’t mind having him as a mate. Come to think of it that was one of the stranger proposals that he had ever heard. Then again it was uniquely Chaos and he didn’t mind it too much after all it had caused him of all foxes to blush at the time.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 17, 2011 1:11 pm

Chaos waited patiently for Xi Lan to finish. She felt it was rude to interrupt him further. After all she had already pestered him so much while was eating. She looked outside and heard the sounds of birds and bugs. The deer scare clacked again. All of the questions buzzing around in her brain about what could be wrong where only making the suffocating feeling she was having worse. She needed to get up and out now.

She stood up slowly and shifted so her garments wouldn’t constrain her. “You can rest and eat at your leisure Xi Lan. I fear I need some air. I am not feeling myself at the moment.” With that said she bowed her head and slipped outside. She worried that it was rude to leave Xi Lan like that but well she couldn’t stay in the same room and not keep her thoughts from confusing her far beyond what she considered comfortable. She didn’t go far from the door. Rather she moved up to the edge of the little reflection pond. A fish darted off as her shadow passed over it. She took a few quite deep breaths. What was wrong with her? Her friend was here and she couldn’t even come up with decent conversation. She felt disappointment in herself and she wished she knew how to properly entertain a guest. Certainly she had a vague notation but would things work out if she showed him around the shrine and couldn’t even marshal her own voice to help her?
She held out a paw just barely above the surface of the reflection pond. Her paw wavered a fraction of an inch sending a cascade of ripples across the surface of the pond. Things were going to be difficult.

Xi lan looked over at Chaos again and started to see that she seemed to be getting uncomfortable. He hoped he hadn’t brought it on but then a nagging feeling in the back of his head was telling him he probably was contributing to it. Maybe he shouldn’t have agreed to come but she had seemed happy he was there. Why did girls have to be so confusing? Then again boys had their own share of being confusing at times.

Xi lan watches as she left the room and blinked. “Ah okay…” he practically said to the Sakura tree since Chaos had already left. He finished the last of his rice ball not one to waste food and escaped to go think in the Sakura tree. It was a habit of his to escape somewhere high. Kaname had always been good at finding him when he was younger. So the visit hadnt gone exactly as planned. He was worried about his friend and wondered if he should just leave after all she was fine before he came over so his nagging suspicion had just grown. He hadnt done something wrong had he. Xi lan nibbled on his bottom lip trying to figure out maybe what had caused this. The only thing he could think of was perhaps just his presence. Then again the only way to make this better was to perhaps disappear. However he did admit he liked chaos, she was very quite and okay with his happy personality. Well not that his other friends didn’t care either. However it was different than with his male friends and it was definitely different than with Hiyoko who used to look at him like she suspected more. Xi lan wasn’t sure how to like someone. He knew how to be nice and how to be an excellent friend. Perhaps he needed to think on how to be more than just a really good friend. Wouldn’t that save so many more girls from potential heartbreak? Then again that really didn’t have to do with Chaos’s current predicament, although she had been blushing and looking at him.
