"Looks like you'll be coming along then," She told the feline, smiling as it blinked at her blankly and then yawned. Well, he well usually an easygoing minipet, but she knew he could be a good protector if he tried.
At Mot's question, the ghoul immediately perked up and nodded enthusiastically. "I did! Roch and Levi helped me! Levi taught me how to pin people, and Roch taught me weak points, like...like soft spots that I can target." Frowning, she wrinkled her nose as she tried to recall what some of these spots were. There was one in particular that was on the tip of her tongue, but--
"--Between the legs!" Xiu announced suddenly, seeming very proud of herself that she had remembered.

Mot seemed to relax. Xiu had gotten help. One from a ghoul he knew to be a good fighter, and a ghoul he trusted, despite his teasing. Roch seemed to be a decent boil, albeit living a lifestyle that was questionable. As long as he didn't take her to the back alleys, it was fine.
Her announcement made him wince. Hearing it made any male cower, let alone seeing or even receiving it. "Yep.. that will do it." He said after a moment. "Any boil that tries to pin or attack you, definitely go between the legs. Just... run far and fast immediately afterward." Because a man who was kicked in the jewels was sure to be as angry as a swarm of wasps afterward.
Regardless, it was an effective tactic.

The little wince hadn't gone unnoticed by Xiu, and she widened her eyes slightly. "Is it really that painful?" She asked, looking puzzled. From her friend's reaction, she gathered that it must have been a very useful attack indeed!
"I'll definitely keep that in mind then, and--ah." She hesitated, not sure how to bring it up. Well, he had mentioned over Groanspring that he didn't remember anything from the night that he took the tea, but..."Are you still having insomnia, or have you been drinking the tea every so often?"
If the latter, she definitely hoped that he at least followed her advice and drank the equivalent of three cups at once.

"Excruciatingly painful." He corrected, grimacing. She may as well know that it was not something to take lightly. Many ghouls out there used it as a means of problem solving when it was not always necessary. Hopefully, Xiu would be more selective.
Perhaps his information just saved the balls of future boil encounters with Xiu.
"The tea seems to be working. Rather than three cups I simply pour the proper amount into a large mug." Drinking three small cup fulls was just annoying for the reaper to do in succession. "It seems to work really well, though." He did not drink it all the time, however. Only when he wanted to sleep. "Still, it seems strange I have to drink so much of it. Honestly, it's a bit much."
"That reminds me. I picked up a new hot plate." So Xiu did not have to worry about any sentient cooking devices running rampant in his dorm room.

"I...I'll use it in moderation." Xiu answered after a long moment, looking vaguely frightened now. If it was really that back, then...should she really use it at all? If...if she kicked a boil there, it wouldn't cause any lasting damage, would it?
...Yes? Hopefully?
She was relieved to hear that the reaper had taken her advice, though she stiffened up a little when he mentioned that having to drink so much was strange. Without any warning, Xiu reached up to clasp his shoulders, her grip gentle but very firm. "M-mot, b...believe me," A stutter suddenly found it's way into her voice, "E-each person sometimes needs...d-different amounts."
She didn't want to imagine what would have happened if she hadn't convinced Mot to drink that second cup last time. Would he really have gone out to kill Riley? ...Scary thought.
"A-and oh! I'm glad!" She smiled, recovering slightly as the conversation turned to the hot plate, "I'm assuming this one isn't going to try to set your room on fire?"

Mot tensed slightly as Xiu grasped his shoulders. She seemed... concerned. Why was she concerned? "Um... okay..?" Mot said somewhat nervously. "The tea isn't... dangerous, is it?" Xiu seemed scared for his safety. This worried Mot in turn. Maybe something really did happen when he first had the tea. He couldn't remember anything past the first sip.
Mot smiled. "No, I should hope it won't." That would be a problem. He liked his room not scorched, thanks.

Drawing her arms back, the Baku wrung her hands a little anxiously as she averted her gaze, though she did give a little shake of her head. "I-it's not...dangerous, per se. I mean, you could drink a lot of it and I promise you it wouldn't cause any damage to you." Had it been likely that the tea could do some harm on Mot's health, Xiu would have been very careful to provide the tea herself instead of giving him the herbs to make his own. "The thing is..."
Oh boy, was she really going to have to tell him what happened? Xiu turned her gaze back onto Mot and spoke in a careful voice. "The tea...it didn't work until the third cup. That's usually not too strange, but you...you reacted strangely to the first two cups." She didn't bother elaborating. Until the reaper asked her what she meant--though she hoped he wouldn't do that, even though she knew it was just about to come up--then she wouldn't bother explaining.
...It really was strange though. Whereas most people just...didn't feel any different if they had an ineffective cup, the cowboil had done a complete 180 in his personality. Twice.

Mot stared back at Xiu through the darkness of his hat. She looked guilty of something, and Mot was soon unravelling the mysterious of that night. Mysteries he might have been better off not knowing. "...What do you mean.. strangely?" What did Mot do? He didn't do anything... too bad, did he?
The reaper took a step back, his body language giving away his anxiousness much more than his hidden features could.

"W-well, um..." Her gaze flit up to him and then away. Would he be mad? She hadn't meant for it to happen--for some reason, the tea just hadn't messed well with the reaper for some reason. "The first cup of tea kind of...it was as if you were suddenly given a lot of sugar. You were suddenly really active, you wanted to go on an adventure and find treasure..."
Xiu trailed off then, looking uncertain whether she wanted to continue. Considering that she had already told him this much though, she might as well finish the whole tale. Clutching her hands over her chest, she nervously bit down on her lip before muttering, "I...I believe that you also wanted to kill Riley."
There was a beat and then she quickly added, "But I had you drink a second cup before anything could happen." The second cup was...better, right? At least it hadn't made him consider offing one of their friends.

Mot had become hyper off of tea? That sounded strange, but it didn't seem too bad, right? was adventure and treasure really so weird?
It was the next sentence that got him. He stared at the ghoul even after her addition to the statement, barely moving or reacting. Why would he want to kill Riley? How high had he been?
He... did not even know how to process that.
He pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to swallow the information he was being given. "Oookay... but.. you said three cups so.." That could only mean the second cup was also a failed attempt. "What happened after the second cup?" Mot asked, his voice wavering a bit.

"W-well, uh, the second cup..." She trailed off, frowning deeply as she struggled to find the right words. "You...it was like you suddenly got...depressed? You...you flopped onto your floor and...started whimpering that you were a horrible friend." He had also been talking with a kind of...slur, if she remembered correctly.
"With a, er, bit of trouble, I managed to get you to drink a third cup though." Xiu assured him quickly, holding up her hands, "A-and that one did the trick! You got drowsy and fell asleep, s-so..." There were many ways that she could have finished that sentence, but the most appropriate and accurate would have probably gone something like, "so please don't be mad that my tea made you do really weird things".
Throughout this whole thing, Xiu had been keeping her eyes glued to the floor. Finally, she glanced up, peeking at the boil from beneath her bangs and wringing her hands. "...S-sorry. I don't know what happened."

Mot whimpered while on tea?
....Whimpered?!
In front of a ghoul...?
Mot fell very silent for a long while, even after Xiu had finished. The ghoul seemed guilty and apologetic. He did not really blame her. He simply felt embarrassed he did those things. "A..ha..." He finally managed to say, bowing his head down for a moment. His hands fidgeted at his sides as he further processed how he felt about this. "No it's...fine." Mot nodded slowly, trying to alleviate the blame from Xiu. The boil seemed to shrink into himself, slowly backing away.
Mot suddenly did not want that tea anymore.
"Right, I should... go.."

Xiu immediately became concerned, both her ears and her tail drooping as the reaper began to back away. Maybe she shouldn't have told him all that after all. "O-okay, well, um...thank you for coming here! To tell me about...well, you know." She made a vague gesture before continuing, her voice becoming a little meeker, "I-if it helps, I can promise you that the three cups should work perfectly every time. J-just...just avoid drinking less than that."
Regardless of his assurance, it was clear that the Baku still felt bad by what had happened. She gave Mot an awkward pat on the arm and a smile, though her voice--that had been growing increasingly softer--was practically a whisper by now. "I...I really am sorry. I usually test everything myself just to make sure it's safe--" Granted that that wasn't really the safest idea for Xiu, "--But I guess it's not just the amount of tea that's different for individuals."
...Well, at least he didn't look like he was actually mad at her.

Poor Xiu. Normally, Mot would attempt to comfort a ghoul who seemed meek and upset. As it stood, the boil wished to find a hole to crawl into and die. He'd always thought himself to be a rugged cowboil, tough and calm. Or at least that's what he wanted to be. Needless to say the way he thought himself and the way he was were very different. He certainly did not like being seen as whimpering and depressed.
And that just made him think of his moping at Prom.
Jackdamnit.
"I understand. Three cups." Mot parroted, nodding and biting his lip. Why was it that he reacted so differently to the tea? Why only him? He was at least thankful he didn't remember that night. Hyper? He could handle being hyper. That usually made people laugh, right? That was on the happy side of the spectrum.
Mot rubbed his face, groaning lightly. Too much thinking, too much worrying. "Look, don't worry about it, Xiu. I'll be fine." He assured her, without really looking at her, his hands dropping back to his sides. He gave her a pat on the shoulder before turning away. "Take care." And with that, he left.
