SlaveToMetal Well not exactly. That is totally true for most christians, yes, but what about the pagans? Their gods supposedly give them power that they can use and manipulate in anyway they wish. The fear they have is that doing evil or bad or immoral things in this life will effect the next life through Karma. Most pagans that I know view their gods as a representation of their own personal powers as well. heart Yeah, but it's still comfort in a sense that their religion gives them a sense of direction and that they don't fear the afterlife. Personally, I don't care about this stuff because I am not a fearful person. I don't care that there are no rules as to how morality should be.

What kind of poll is that? Where's the slot that says "I believe in God. I am a devout Christian"? That's not why I find the poll to be stupid. I find it stupid because of your use of the word religion. Religion refers to a system of beliefs that one assumes, yet does not ever question. Being religious is making a big deal out of your religion, flaunting it, saying, "look at me! I'm blah blah, blah! Isn't that great?"
Spirituality, mostly refering to Christians, is when one does not flaunt there beliefs. One shares them, but does not falsly act to look better than another..
The explanation is rather fuzzy, I admit, but think about it.
I, for instance, am spiritual. I have searched for answers, and constantly found them to be in Christianity. I've tried to disprove it like the other theories - it doesn't work. There's too much evidence. I don't flaunt my christianity. Sure, I get on chatboards like this, but if you saw me on the streets, you'd never know I'm Christian, unless you noticed how I don't curse or dress immodestly. Occasionally, I do get on my sooapbox. I don't appreciate the stereotype that you give us Christians.

windswept_fury Religion refers to a system of beliefs that one assumes, yet does not ever question. I've never heard that definition before. Generally, it's described as a system of belief about supernatural phenomena.

Mechanism windswept_fury Religion refers to a system of beliefs that one assumes, yet does not ever question. I've never heard that definition before. Generally, it's described as a system of belief about supernatural phenomena. I've mostly heard it defined as a set of beliefs or morals that guides your life and teaches you what's right or wrong. ... ... I don't know why it was my World History teacher that taught us that. That guy has the Bible, the Quran, and who knows what else.
