He took another look through the book, stopping at some interesting pages, but then stopping at the next dog-eared page. It was another simple attack, yet it looked like it could be difficult for some. Though, he seemed to be in wonderful condition, faster and stronger than most men, even with this armor on. He looked at the page closely, then put the longsword against the wall (off the rack), just to take out the short sword. This was, of course, to practice.

He glanced at the page again, then nodded, getting the general idea. He set the book down, taking a braced stance, bringing the shortsword up, over his head in his right hand. One swing was seen, but two were felt. While he started swinging diagonally, down, he had finished swinging horizontally, to the right. True, in battle, this would leave his chest perfectly open for attack, but it was a good first step. Kass felt that, were there a figure to cut, in front of him, it would be in a few different pieces, now.

The next folded corner of page led him to something interesting. It was a two-part page, really. Two distinct pictures that caught his eye, but were only for REFERENCE, given the picture had a single weapon, rather than his newfound two. He put down the book, tilting it up so he could see it from where he stood. This didn't require much attacking, at all. It was merely posturing.

"De...fense Stance..." he said uneasily to himself, as he picked up his longsword in his right hand and the shortsword in the left. He then braced his stance, as he saw the footing in the first image, then crossed his blades, with the longsword in front. He made sure the flats of the blades were facing him and away from him, forming a bit of a wall as he curled his stance in a bit, to prevent openings UNDER the swords. Kass felt quiet safe in this stance, feeling that if he were to take an attack straight on, he wouldn't do much more than get pushed back a bit.

Next up, he wanted to test out the next stance. It seemed particularly opposite, to his eyes. Rather than defense, it was offensive. He wanted to test out his previously learned attack, with this stance, in fact. It seemed...better, to do it this way.

"Offensive Stance." He said a bit more loudly and confidently. He shifted his feet, making it easier to knock him over if he were struck, but better if he were to, say, lunge forward or to attack at all. He swung both of the blades in a rotating pattern, shouldering the longsword and pointing the shortsword out. He focused for a moment, then swung the longsword forward, shifting his wrist to make up for the great weight of a two-handed sword in a single hand, twisted it when it barely struck ground, then swung up at a high speed, barely visible to him. The force of the swing and the weight of the longsword caused his body to twist, causing his left side to push forward, allowing him to thrust forward with the shortsword, into an invisible chest, then he quickly released the hilt, shifted grip to a reverse grip, then "yanked" it to his right, "cutting across" the invisible opponent's chest.

He was in awe at the difference, allowed to him by an added weapon and merely shifting stances. It assisted in so many ways, he was almost ecstatic to try it out on someone solid. That was, of course, after he gained a bit more grounding.

The Hedonist

((( OOC: Students cannot self train. Just letting you know. Also, you need to have one of your nation's leaders training you, unless Snuff has permission to work with you. In any case, the npc should be a real NPC and there needs to be a back and forth between skills... )))

((((After reviewing all the details I have decided that Cerus can keep his currently learned skills. From now on though, all learning must be done as it is supposed to be done. No fake NPC no self training. By the book.))))

Zexion sighed as he moved into the Crimson hole reading his book. He looked up at it for only a moment to see if the students were doing alright. "So who requested for a promotion?" Zexion asked seeing as he was sent here to give some student a test for a promotion. If he had his way he could just pass the kid and go back to reading his book and asking the leader about their goals, but no, he had to be here and actually teach people.

Kass stepped up, raising his hand halfway up his body, though high enough to notice him. He gave a respectful nod to greet the man, given he hadn't seen this guy in the short time he has been in this place. Though, to seem a bigger presence, he responded, "Yeah, that'd be me. I'd like to continue my training, post haste."

Both his newfound swords were 'sheathed' in his belt, both lacking actual scabbards, so they remained between his belt and his waist. His left elbow rested on the hilt of the longsword, giving him more of a relaxed posture, probably making him seem like he didn't care, despite his hurry.

Zexion nodded to the boy and gave a slight bow in return then motioned for him to come over to him. "Go ahead and give me your name, rank, class, and what you have learned so far.... basically your basic information so i know how to test you quickly and effectively." Zexion told him getting straight to the point. He wanted to get this over with just as much as this student did. Hell if everything went quickly enough then he would have one less person to train for the day.

"My name is Kass, I guess I'd qualify as a 'student', and I'm a Warrior-- " He stopped, pausing just to think of what he had learned. He thought back to the books he had read through, and what he had tried, he brought up the names of the techniques he had learned, from his memories. Slowly, picking them off one by one, he repeated them from his mind, to his instructor, "Pure Needle...Hack, Double Slash...And both the Offensive and Defensive Stances."

This information seemed utterly irrelevant to him, but he stated it anyways. It was probably best not to get on the instructor's bad side, due to him wanting to get through this without a hitch. Hitches being the guy refusing to test him, which would definitely be bad.

Zexion sighed. "Well i was going to have you fight a clone of me.... but do you think you can face it with your skills?" Zexion asked the kid wondering if he would say yes, or if Zexion had to send him off after a low leveled monster to hunt and destroy. Ether way this student had to prove his worth to him, or get more training.

Weighing the options for the moment, he just gave a weak shrug to the instructor and stated, "Well, anything's possible, and with the right strategy, even the weakest person could defeat someone significantly stronger than them, but if we're gauging the difference in strength, no variables attached, then no, I don't believe I could take you."

As little as he would like to sound weak in front of someone he was trying to prove himself to, he needed to be realistic. If he outright challenged the guy, he'd probably get his a** handed right back to him on a silver platter, all smoked and everything. This, of course, was not something that was desired, so to avoid that, honesty was key.

Zexion sighed again as he held out his book in front of him and suddenly made a clone of himself appear from within the book. "Alright, since i cant think of another method for this then you will be fighting my clone in no holds bared combat. your objective is to completely defeat him. you may start when you are ready." Zexion told Kass as he waited for the fight to begin.

Hearing this, he shifted from the 'obedient student' position to a more readied, braced position. He drew both blades, stabbing the longsword into the ground, to his right, and kept the shortsword in his left hand, quickly tossing it over to his right hand when he releases the longsword. For a moment, he relaxed his body, stretching his muscles and lossening the joints in his fingers, wrists and shoulders. First, he took a single step forward, which turned into a bit of a leap forward, then another couple steps to turn it into more of a charge. Midstride, he shifted his left arm to a defensive position, making it easily ready to block an oncoming attack, or perhaps use it for an alternative maneuver.

He shifted his grip on the shortsword, holding it in a reverse grip as he thrust his right fist forward. The aim was to stay slightly low and make a shallow cut along the clone's midsection, which would probably extend no longer than 8 inches long. It'd be painful, but wouldn't bleed or cause too great an inconvenience. If he were to miss, it'd just end in a very powerful, rock solid punch to the solar plexus. If the blade hit, and continued along its cut path, it would end with a firm elbow to the ribs. It was very simple and easy, making it a proper first move.

The Zexion clone smiled as the cut went through it and it was hit in the rib cage. "My turn...." the clone said with a smirk as it opened up its book and pointed it at Kass. Within a moment the clone was holding both of Kass's weapons in its hands. "Now you fight your own weapons!" Zexion told him as he suddenly made a slash with the short sword at Kass's wrist then suddenly brought the great sword up and over his head for a downward strike.

( Copy: (E-rank) Zexion uses his weapon to produce an exact copy of the opponents weapon to use it against them. )

Without hesitation, Kass swept his right leg around and behind the clone's legs, sweeping with his foot and hooking his knee around one of the clone's knees, and leaned into the clone's body, forcing both of them to fall (the clone would fall backward while Kass would fall into him). This would inherently throw off both of the attacks, given the loss of footing, and backwards motion. Just as well, if the clone was still able to attack, Kass's body was too close for the clone to do anything with the longsword, and the shortsword's intended target would be out of reach. As of yet, there would be no forceful attack to harm the clone further than the blade would have, already. That being said, it was time to do some damage.

Midfall, he thrust his left hand upwards, slightly, and against the clone's chest, over its heart, opening it with fingers spread apart. A small smirk spread his lips wide as he looked into the clone's eyes. Quietly, he uttered, "Pure Needle."

From the very palm of his left hand, the needle formed, and shot forward, into the clone's chest (given how it's point blank) as they hit the ground, giving him the proper mixture of a staggering attack (from both hitting the ground and having a full grown man falling on top of him) and the painful pierce of an energy needle to the chest. Once he felt all of the energy release from his palm, he shifted his weight, again, doing a roll off of the clone, to his right, pulling the shortsword's blade from its body in the process. This gave him the proper amount of time to stumble back onto his feet.
