It was a shock to hear her name on someone's lips again, particularly his. Pain and guilt flashed through her eyes at his final words, but from her silence, it didn't seem as if she were eager, at the moment, to impart just why that had happened: why she had left, what had truly become of her ... perhaps what her true past was. She wondered if he had ever even thought about their cubs, and another flash of guilt wracked her. She hadn't, not in the past few moons. She had been such a horrible mother, like everything else in her life ....
He wasn't demanding anything; he was merely offering, and that in and of itself was more than she could ever have hoped for. Was that all this about? His word? Honor was an unfamiliar concept for Ciyari, and her ears twisted back and forth as she considered.
After a moment, timidly, she crept up to where he'd noted, moving low in submission. Her gray pelt lightly brushed his as she settled beside him, quietly, ears flattening as she looked away, as if uncertain she could properly meet his gaze. Her body trembled a little at the contact, but all she said was: " ... thank you. Maji."

Maji waited until she’d settled down beside him before he let his body relax, her side warm but tense against his. Showing no hostility, he slowly brought a paw over to rest atop hers. No claws, no tension- only a warm, velvet gesture of welcome and concern. His eyes, filled with concern and questions, searched her face and studied her tightened posture. She was terrified… but she had laid down beside him regardless.
“No. Thank you, Ciyari…”
