"I would be so bold as to claim that I'm a strong swimmer," Xenon replied smoothly, following after her as she began to move towards the jungle. "I move with the preybeasts and they go wherever the water is. Whether it be watering holes or mighty, roaring rivers, I have had exposure to a number of places where swimming is a necessary skill to have," he continued. He paused briefly to step over a fallen tree trunk, flicking his tail against it to indicate he would have preferred it hadn't been lying right in front of him. "In fact, one would say that if I didn't know how to swim properly, then there is a guarantee I would be dead by now," he conceded, his tone a touch gruff as he recalled his first introduction to a very fast flowing river.
...It had nearly ripped his damn legs off.
"As an individual who isn't of any set origin it is important to know how to survive in a variety of climates," he released a sigh, dodging yet another tree trunk. He certainly wasn't as sleek as the beach-bum males of the Bahari, that was for sure! "That requires an individual to learn a lot of different skills with aspirations to master nearly all of them," he explained. It was at this point that he fell silent, seemingly donce with conversing for the time being. It should have been clear in those moments that this particular lion had been a self-sufficient and solitary creature for a very long time.
"I wouldn't say that I miss the meat yet," he said finally, once he had settled into a more relaxed pace and didn't need to dodge as many obstacles. "If I was desperate I could return to the lands beyond the borders and acquire something of ample size, but I am curious as to what this jungle as to offer in comparison to the others," he conceded, and he wasn't lying. In all the jungles and forests he'd been in, they'd all contained a different type of prey, it was really very fascinating for the lion.
"And I wouldn't worry about the babbling," He shrugged his shoulders loosely, his expression difficult to read at this point. "You ramble far less than some of the other creatures I've met," he finished reassuringly.

"When I am better, I will race you." She giggles, a very girly smile spreading across her maw. "I think I can beat you in the water." She grins a bit, she loved to swim and even now when the water had caused so much harm to her world, she loved the water still. It had always been a big part of her life and this disaster wasn't going to change it.
"That mane of yours will hold you back." She grins cheekily and flicks his mane with her paw as she hobbles along beside him. He was bigger than her, at least at the moment, if her siblings and grand parents were any indication she would certainly grow some more before she was fully grown, and she would have that sturdy bone structure that her firekin heritage had passed down to her.
The young blue lioness gave a sigh passing beneath the jungles trees she smiles back at Xenon. "Monkeys." She states simply. "They are hard to catch put when you have one they taste.." She licks her lips. "Well you've probably eaten a baboon." She laughs "They all taste more or less the same, not as nice as fish though my granpa tells me that some lions prefere the taste of red meat over the flesh of a fish. I suppose there are less fish out there otherwise more lions would much prefere fish." This she knew was her opinion but she loved the taste of the salty fish over the flesh that was fetched from the border lands of the sea faring pride.
"Come let me show you the best place to catch them." She whispers taking off in front of him able to move quite swiftly despite her bum back leg.

They ate monkeys? What an absolute waste of time that was - in the time it took him to catch a single monkey he could have downed four or five preybeasts. It took all of Xenon's self control not to point this out and instead, he took to reminding himself that in a place where fish was the staple diet, it was no surprise that they ended up choosing the most ridiculous and awkward of red meats to eat. If anything, it was certainly a way to guarantee that most creatures converted to white meat fairly quickly. He snorted in slight distaste at this, and cast his gaze upwards into the trees - sometimes, he had to worry about the preferences of certain prides.
"I don't have a taste for baboons," he replied smoothly, sweeping through the undergrowth with ease. "They're too small," he pointed out. He was being honest as well, a baboon simply didn't sustain him and he needed something much larger to keep himself satisfied. A preybeast was usually larger and thankfully, contained much more meat as well. However, he refrained from pointing out that they also required less energy to catch - he'd let the lioness show him what she wanted to even if he never intended to make use of the knowledge - it was only polite.
"As for racing," he released a small sigh and shook his head. "We shall see," he murmured gently. By the time her leg was fully set and strong enough to make use of in that manner, he may not even be there anymore. Nevertheless, he would allow her to ponder over the possibility of racing him for now. There was no need for her to be overly concerned with his movements and positive thoughts and aspirations often helped others recover. Instead, he simply lapsed into silence and followed the lioness deeper into the jungle...all the while, the same thought trailing through his head...
Monkeys - really?
