Adelle inwardly shrugged. "If you can make friends easily, why not be friends with me?" She was inside surprised that she was still arguing with this colt, but the motherly instinct was still kicking in and urging her to take care of him until he was all grown up. At this rate, if he didn't find a way to literally chase her away, Adelle would stay and grow attached to him, and the risk of hurting him would grow. Motherly instincts were a problem at times like these, but she couldn't just abandon the colt. Not now. Not ever.

She'd given him a rather intriguing solution to his confusion. "My friend? Your all grown and you want to be my friend? Is that allowed? Could you?" He pondered for a minuet then nodded. "I think I could like that. Could deal with that." He grinned and was a little amazed the feeling of smiling.

Adelle nodded with a soft smile. "It is most definitely allowed to be friends, as long as we think of each other as friends. Age, breed, gender, appearance, none of that matters to those who are good friends."
Inside of her, the part of her that wanted to run away and hurt no one wailed. She could have run when the colt had offered her the chance to do so, but instead, she had stayed and found excuses to stay. Well, as long as she didn't try to mother Tebald, maybe she wouldn't hurt him....

"Cool!" He couldn't remember the last time something had made him excited. And then something in the back of his mind clicked forward and he frowned. "But you can't stay here during the night. We have wolves and icky things. Things the villagers only whisper about. You'd have to come back to the village with me. They'd like you." He grinned in what he hoped was winning fashion...missing the mark by three steps.
