"A nursery, you say?" The older man's eyes lit up, an idea bursting into form in his head. "I think that's a great idea. Destiny City could use a place to buy the best plants and seeds that's local and not some big box chain store where they don't know what they're doing. I think you should go for it." Benjamin chuckled to himself, picturing Alexandre elbow-deep in potting soil with one of those aprons that displayed his name, working hard like anyone else in his own nursery. Leaning forward, he finally vocalized his idea. "Say, if you're not too busy, why don't you come over for dinner sometime? We can share herb gardening tips or something. I hear I make a mean fettuccine!"
Christa blinked, clearly surprised by her father's sudden gesture of kindness. Alex didn't have to go, especially since he'd have to deal with her younger brother Zachary. The boy's favorite game was 20 Questions. The gray haired teen turned to her companion to explain. "You don't have to come if you don't want to. I know it's sudden, but we wouldn't be offended. I promise."
Her father shook his head and laughed. "What Christa really means is that she hopes you'll come over, really badly." This earned a glare from his daughter, but he kept on going. "And she can't get enough of my fettuccine. It's true. But don't take my word for it. You should come and see for yourself. And maybe peruse Christa's library in her room. I swear, she had more books than there are people in Destiny City." If it would have been appropriate in a public place to smash one's face into the table, Christa would have done so. Repeatedly.

"Yes, my friends father already offered to back it if I should make sure a move. I'm not sure, though it is tempting." I agree though, many are chains. There is one or two small ones in the city which aren't, but as I said they are small." He did some online shopping for plants, an orchid convention as well. It was hard to find certain plants, really hard. he sometimes asked Lily to talk to their family gardener and see if he could get something for him. Sometimes that panned out, sometimes it didn't. It was a nice resource to have, one a lot of people likely didn't have. But he had a friend who had a rich family and thus a really good gardener who could get his hands on a lot of things.
"That idea would be nice, I'd like that. Especially if the food is good." A smile to Christa. "Don't worry, I don't mind in the least and if your father wishes I can bring some herbs I've grown or perhaps a tea?" He offered, wishing to be polite and offer something in return. It was only proper and right, and he did have proper manners. He just didn't always put them to use, most of the time in fact.
""You wouldn't mind Christa? And you can show me your book collection? I'm sure I have some you don't." Especially dealing with plants. "Perhaps I can...return the favor at some point." An offer, in the future, to see his own collection of books.

Striking his fist against the table in a jovial manner, Benjamin exclaimed, "Then it's settled! Christa, you have his number. How's tomorrow sound? Unless you're too busy?" The older man looked excited, really. What was going on in his head was anyone's guess, but Christa assumed it had something to do with setting his daughter up with a nice, bookish young man, even though they were quite similar. Christa could use a man. Loosen her up a bit! She was too serious for her own good. The teen could tell there was a bit of planning going on behind those eyes and rolled her own in response.
She turned to Alex fully, shifting her body so she didn't have to face her father making a nuisance of himself. "No, I wouldn't mind at all. Perhaps we could trade books and you can help me bore my brother half to death with talks about literature." She smiled then, amused by the mental image of her brother's brain melting at the thought of a male clone of his sister. It was true - they were very much alike, but Christa doubted he had any interest in her aside from that of a colleague, and she was find with that. Her father, on the other hand, didn't seem to get the hint. Oh well.
Benjamin stood up, indicating it was time for them to leave. "So since you're coming over, I better hit the store. Tea would be great, actually. I'd like my kids to drink that instead of those damned energy drinks!" And with that, the older Calloway headed out the door and towards the car, eager about the idea of shopping for a very special dinner. Christa followed along behind, though much slower.
She shrugged her shoulders and mouthed to him, Sorry! and had to trot off to her father's car, fearing she may be left behind. A simple text was sent to Alex's phone, reading: I'll call you once this madness is over. - C
