The Irish hunter watched Lucian with careful eyes, his image reflected in those very dark mirrors. It blinked and then resumed to watch as he went off and away, with such a haste. and then come back. It brayed out as the man went around the back. It wasn't just the peculiar behavior but his scent as well that alerted it, it was used to non-humans and their scent but when they were acting odd that was another thing, it was unprejudice as humans would get that treatment too.
Seth lifted his chin as he heard his steed. And looked to Matilda, and gave a somewhat forced smile. "Well, if you do need their calibre's, Lancaster 1 is a .450 and Lancaster 2 is a .455." The officer said, slapping down a handsome sum to cover the costs of the repair and probably a bit more over. He jogged out the door, being careful to not slam it either. Getting back to the Irish Hunter, the Lieutenant Colonel looked about ears strained for any sound, a scream, a cry for help, anything, and his eyes vigilant. Then looking at the horse to point out what it had seen, and in response the animal nodded over to the corners and took a few steps towards it and as it grew closer it turned its head further in and jutted its nose in the particular direction. The officer nodded to the horse, and drew out his shortsword as he so cautiously stepped into the space between Nim's Repair and the next shop, his steps careful and quiet on the ground, trained so from years of prodding along the woods, hunting small animals or playing hide-and-seek with other children or faeries that dwelled among the vegatation. There was no breeze or wind between the buildings, but it was definite. The man from before had gone through here ery recently. He edged over to the corner and then though, where to look. Behind the other building, or the repair shop? But then figured something a tad bit better, though at the sacrifice of the element of surprise, but was that necessary at all for the situation? "Changeling!" Seth called out, "It is you there, is it not?"

The names of the gun type were obediently written down. It was a strain to write 'pistol', as her mouth desperately wished to spout off some anti-condescension remark about how she very well knew how to spell 'pistol'. Lake a good lass she said not a word nor uttered a sound. At the mention of calibers she looked up, a bit surprised. "Oh, yes, I suppose those would be useful. Thank you Sir." She jotted down the numbers quickly, sensing the officer's sudden hurry. When she saw the money land on the book, she looked up just in time to hear the bell and see the coat-tails pass the closing door. Matilda sighed and shook her head. The officer, in all his pomp and glory had not only left military property without a receipt, but also gave money although the items were in the hands of the worker. So much for keeping track of things. The youngest Lidgett signed the slip and tore off the carbon copy underneath.
The book was flipped closed, the money pocketed in a place hidden by the folds of the dress, the slip in another such hidden pocket, and the bag lifted from the counter. Said bag was then carefully slung into a back room with a work table, and the door closed behind it. Matilda went to the door of that led to the living quarters; she poked her head in to call to her mother, the only other remaining in the house at this moment. "Mother? I have to catch a customer! Can you pause to watch the shop?" Without any confirmation that she was heard the young woman ran out of the shop. Looking around she saw the horse, and was about to take a step forward when she heard a low voice beckon. The words were not discerned, but the direction was. Matilda turned right for just a couple of strides before she was staring down and alley.

Lucian had half the coat off when he heard the voice. He knew who it was but could not figure out why he was here. He decided to stay silent and go look at the man. He put his coat back on and crouched down as he headed towards the alley between shops. He had reached the corner when he saw the women from before coming into the alley. Now was not the time to show himself. He answered in a low wisper just enough for the man to hear it but not the women coming, "Why must you call me a changeling? Why not call me a forest dweller instead, much more refined. Also you might want to turn around, you got a visitor. After she leaves, I'll show you what I really am." With that he moved back into the shadows of the shop, smiling as he went. He didn't have any intention of letting someone who saw his wings go. He didn't need the guards on his tail trying to kill him. Only one person has saw his wings and lived, and he swore to tell none on penalty of his life. He kept his word, no hunter's came for him, the boy lived.

The steed looked at Matilda and as she ran into the alley it whinnied out to Seth.
Seth held the blade of the shortsword between him and Lucian, he then sheathed it having heard the steed, and then Matilda's heels clicking along and Lucian had already faded away. He turned just slightly but didn't look straight to her, "You scared them away." He said when the lass was close enough to hear him. The officer turned now to her, and smiled, "Sorry Miss, about that. But for all we could have known, it could have been a smuggler of some sort." A lie as it was, but it came out so smoothly and with the right amount of concern and slight disdain that an officer would have against a criminal, it was believable enough. Years of practice had payed off.

Matilda stopped when she spotted the officer, and to his address to her she looked to a cobblestones. "My apologies officer, it was not my intent to scare or startle." it was a couple of seconds before she resumed. As she did so her head forcibly raised her gaze to the eyes of the officer, a small smile crossed her face as if offering and asking for mutual peace. "However, I would be remiss if I allowed you to leave without a receipt for the guns, otherwise they would not be able to be picked up." Her left hand now held the yellow, half-folded slip. It was about waist height and her arm was not stretched out to the officer very far although the two were at least three meters from each other.

The officer smiled, and reached out thier arm, gingerly taking the slip, "Ah yes, thank you miss. Sometimes the fact that I have to do my job properly means that I have to drop whatever I'm doing at the first sign. But thank you, still."

Matilda extended her arm when the officer approached but did not step forward. As her empty left hand fell to her side her right produced the coin purse. "I respect that Sir, and I do hope that I have not hampered this effort. I, too, am just preforming my assigned duties; which include making sure a customer will be able to collect his belongings," she paused while holding the purse to the man, "as well as reminding them that the items are insurance of payment, and nothing is needed up front." She placed the bag in the officer's hand and spoke once more before she pivoted on her right heel, turning to return too the shop. "Unfortunately I am unable to offer an estimate of the cost, Sir, but from the weight of that purse I suspect that it won't be a point of concern."

Lucian listened to the conversation without interest. When the shop keeper turned to leave he crept back up to the corner and watched, makeing sure he could only see the man. He didn't want to let the woman see him. "That was interesting, to an extent. Nice lie by the way, very smoth," he wispered.

Seth nodded pocketing the pouch of currency and watched after Matilda, as she she disappeared around the bend of the corner he waited a few seconds until he was sure she was gone before turning to Lucian. "Laddy..." Seth's Irish accent was clear there in that one word, though the officer lived his entire life in the country of Bellabost, the Irish fae were always there, and thus Seth was able to keep his accent and language, but it took a lot of practice and mind to keep it hidden when he was provoked. "What on earth- What in god's name are ya doing here?!" Seth said, his tone would have been as good as shouting but was hushed down in a controlled volume, his finger pointed to Lucians throat and paired with the glare the officer was giving could have served as a lethal threat, if he didn't like the answer he got. His irsis went dark with only a wickedly, bright, venomous sunburst to light his eyes.

Lucian looked at the man's finger and his eyes and decided to move away from the finger. "Hmm...I guess you could say to relieve boredom, but that's not important right now," he said and removed his coat, keeping his wings tight against him, "What is though is if your ready to see me in my true form." The wind blew from above, making him yearn for the wind beneath his wings.

Matilda wandered back into the shop. Her mother was at the counter, and greeted her. Matilda returned the greeting, found her mother fine with minding the shop, and then the young woman entered the small back room and closed the door. On the table before her was the bag of guns, some screws and pieces of a time piece. A swipe of her arm cleared the table, her sleeves were pushed up to her elbows to avoid damage, and a ribbon tied her hair back. She pulled the first gun from the bag as she walked around the table, facing the door was ideal as it allowed most tools to be just a reach away on the counter that lined the wall behind her. The tag that the military had so 'kindly' attached, that left no deduction to the repairer, named it an Enfield with a broken slide spring. The first step was to check that it was unloaded, a few seconds of fiddling saw to that. Next, she turned the tool in her hands a few times. This wasn't her first experience with guns, but she certainly didn't know them - she couldn't even recognize them. In a few minutes she had recalled what her father had showed her on other guns and slowly began to dismantle it. She carefully laid out the pieces on the table based on where they came off, doing so in a set order based on minimal experience and little specific knowledge. When she could see a spring that through a few workings was most likely the one associated with the slide it was removed and examined. She rolled the spring in her fingers, she could see where it had detached, and where such had caused the metal to break. It took a moment but she decided the type of metal that was used and turned to the cabinet under the counter to find a coil of the same metal of the same diameter. It was far easier to make springs from wire on hand than have boxes of springs.

Seth's glared intensified, before Lucian could realize it the officer had already had his shortsword drawn out and pointed at his adam's apple. The Lieutenant Colonel stood there glaring, he did not like Lucian's answer, for all it was worth he could have been waiting to prey on Matilda or anyone else in there to leave via the back exit... but then he glanced and a thought came to him... "Put your coat back on..." And with that he sheathed the sword and turned. He stretched out his arm, a gesture for Lucian to go on ahead of him out of the alley, for of course he wouldn't give his back to anyone.

Lucian looked at the sword while it was drawn. When it was put away, he did just as was asked of him. He could tell when someone was stronger than him. With his coat back on, he walked out of the alley. "So where to," he asked, not taking any chances. "I'll gladly leave if that's what you want," he added looking back.

"No, but I would rather we go to a less populated place. Away from ranged ears... I'm more or less in a slight hurry because I'll have to check back in soon with my superiors as well as my men. But if if you want to we can meet at a point on the way. How about the Wise Oak left of the Grieving Angel in the North park, it's a practically a short cut for me. And Dahy's a swift one. He'll most likely get me there by the time you yourself arrive."

"Sorry to say that this is the first time I have come to this town," he said, "How will I know where this north park is?" He looked around and then decided something rather easy for him. "I will meet you, this I promise. I would rather meet at night if you would allow it," he said. He had no intention of going against this man in any way. He didn't need a hunter in the forest. "If you want, I can even promise in blood," he said.
