I believe she says they made it have a sort of fizzy cinnamon taste when she adds them to them. 3nodding
Wars come and go,

That sounds... interesting. I always think of soda when I think of fizzy things and it seems that baked apples being anything like soda would just be wrong, but I can't knock it until I actually get myself some apples and some Red Hots and try it for myself.

I love baked apples, but my parents couldn't care less about them. Baked apples remind me of apple pie without the crust.

If I had a decent amount of cold milk and a bit of vanilla ice-cream on top I could eat plenty of it. (Baked Apples. ^8^)

My parents are like to southern gourmets, they love all the good southern foods, Fried Patatos, Turnip Greens, Grits, Country Fried Steak, Peach/ Cherry/ Apple Cobblers and the list goes on. lol

May I hang out with you parents? I think that we would get along famously. I love those wonderful artery-clogging southern delicacies. (Of course, that just may very well be because I was born in the south to a southern dad and I was raised on that stuff.) You really can't overlook the fried chicken or the cornbread, though. I promise that I won't drink all of their sweet tea. I don't care for sweet tea. (I believe that may be because my mom is a northerner.)

How do your parents feel about fried chicken livers and/or gizzards? I am just wondering how far their southern tastes really go. Most people from the city don't seem to care for these particular types of food for the simple fact that they aren't true-blooded southerners, but you can still find people who like these delicacies in the country. (I could take them or leave them, really. I will eat them, but they don't make my list of favorite dishes.)

Come and visit for a while if you would like I am sure we would love to have you, the same as I to, I love all of those good old southern foods.

I and my Mom like Sweet Tea, though she has to sweet'in hers on her own because of her Diabities "No Added Sugar" except in small quantities.

My Dad has his Coffee and Coke though I like Coke about as much I guess. sweatdrop

Fried Chicken, Chicken Gravy from the drippings and Biscuits and Cornbread both (Yellow "Sweet" Cornbread possible if you would like) my parents like sweet cornbread I dont like it very much.

Normal cornbread is just fine with me, with pinto beans and or pinto beans either on top of the cornbread or separate. ^8^

Though I am the same on Chicken Livers/ Gizzards though I can eat them but they are not my Favorite's.

My parents are lovers of all southern food's mostly anyways.

They love Chicken Livers/ Gizzards fried in a hot skillet.

Sliced tomatoes on everything at least most sandwiches. (On top of Gravy & Biscuits)

OH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ALMOST FORGOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Country Ham/ and RED EYE GRAVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wars come and go,

I just got to be hungry for the first time in two days just by reading this. I tend to eat because I have to or because I don't want to take the chance of insulting somebody most of the time unless real southern or Hispanic food is involved. When you involve either of those two types of food my stomach is sure to find itself hungry.

I don't seem to understand why so many people are so in love with sweet cornbread. Don't get me wrong, I will eat it if it is placed in front of me, but I just prefer regular ol' cornbread. (I guess that I may just not like sweet unless it is what is for dessert.)

I am trying to figure out whether you are somebody who calls any kind of caffeinated drink or if you only refer to Coca~Cola as being Coke. I tend to be very particular about Cokes in reference to the soft drinks, but I would take a Coca~Cola over a Pepsi any day of the week. (Of course, I would take some tea with only a hint of sweetness over a Coke.)

Ooooh... Fried chicken... I love fried chicken if I am allowed to work with it right after it gets finished cooking or if I get to cook mine. It would seem that most people don't use paper towels to dry off some of the excess grease. I prefer not to have hot grease dripping down my arm.

Now, I love biscuits... and my neighborhood friends know that I love them. I have this one friend who really doesn't care for them at all, so every time that he goes to Bojangles to get chicken he calls me up and tells me that I can swing by and pick up his biscuits. I love biscuits enough that I don't hesitate at the chance and I get to his house as quickly as possible.

I love tomatoes. I don't just like them cut up, I love them so much that I will eat them like the average person will eat apples.

I am glad it helped your appetite, ^8^ (Need to have a good appetite. 3nodding )

I have a small problem with eating, that is that I often can eat till I fell bloated and then be hungry 20 or 30 mins. later. sweatdrop

And sadly my moods tend to make me eat sometimes depending on how I feel and what foods are available.

I love just normal cornbread, even if it is all by itself with nice cold milk or tea or even soda I could eat it by itself and make a meal. 3nodding

Oh no no I mean actual Coca-Cola, though I do like a few other sodas (Sprite, Nehi's (Harder and Harder to find nowadays sweatdrop ), Sunkist (Orange & Grape), Sundrops, Sierra Mist, on occasion Mountain Dews) a few other odds and ends sodas.

Also I agree, if I had to choose I would rather a Coca-Cola over a Pepsi or a RC though its getting oddly enough where RC's are not seen as often here for some reason I dont understand?

Yes, fried chicken nice and golden crispy fired. 3nodding

Also agreed that I like them when they are hand held and not so greasy, my Mom usually cooks them and puts them on a plate with a folded 2 ply paper-towel under them to adsorb grease and of course napkins are everywhere when we eat them. 3nodding

Biscuits, everywhere as well with everything on them almost.

Sometimes instead of loaf bread everything goes on biscuits here in my house, chicken on biscuits fried salmon patties on biscuits, sausage all kinds of yummy biscuit sandwiches.

But even by there self's I love them with milk and molasses to dip them in. Yum!!!!

My Mom can do that as well with Tomatoes, she has told me of stories when she was a little girl and would help bring in the crops on the farm she was raised on and taking tomatoes and a salt shaker with her and snacking while she picked. ^8^

Wars come and go,

The secret to eating is not to eat to the point where you feel bloated. If you eat smaller portions more often during the day but eat more often during the day it is better for you than eating large portions during the day but eating less often. It is, also, better for you to eat your biggest meal at the start of your day and eat smaller meals during the rest of it. (I know a lot about healthy eating habits because of all of the doctor shows that I have watched during my lifetime.)

I don't really enjoy eating because I feel that I am fat even though everybody else seems to think that I am bone-skinny. (I think that what they would call my problem is an eating disorder.) I am getting to the point where my size 36 pants are falling off while I am walking unless I am holding them up in one way or another, but I still feel like I am fat. (My ex-fiancee didn't understand how I thought that she was perfect the way that she was and I thought that I was fat when she weighed 220-230 pounds and I weighed at most 165 pounds.)

You will know whether I am depressed, content, or angry by how much I have eaten that day. I tend to lose my appetite when I am depressed, have a little bit of an appetite when I am content, and eat to ignore the anger when I am mad. I don't think that anybody has ever really paid enough attention to my eating habits to realize this fact because they would probably ask what all I have eaten in a day to make sure that they really want to get in my path.

When it comes to the fried chicken, my family has always used two two-ply paper-towels to absorb the grease from the chicken. One piece of paper-towel goes on top of the chicken and one goes underneath it. It seems to make the chicken just greasy enough to keep it as being good fried chicken and not greasy enough to drip all of the way down one's arm.

I hate that my favorite soft drink is so bad for my teeth. Soft drinks lighter in color tend to be the worst for your teeth according to many studies that I have heard about concerning them. Nobody expected that clear soft drinks could be worse for your teeth than darker sodas can be, but they really are.

I still don't understand using salt when eating tomatoes... I think that they are just fine without having to add anything to them to make them taste any differently. I mean, you can put tomatoes on almost anything that you choose to put them on when it comes to food and I will probably eat it, but you don't NEED to have anything put together with tomatoes to make them taste any better. (Was your mom really a farmer's daughter?)

I myself am over-weight I weight in the neighborhood of 248 - 256 LBs, but you I wish I weight what you do, I havent weight that much less since I was a bit younger, you are actually about the size of my Dad.

My Dad through most of his life hasnt weight but between 160 - 180 LBs but he grew up that way, he was one of 11 or 12 children in his family and they sometimes struggled to feed them all if they didnt have enough crops out in the feel for money and food at the same time.

Mostly mine eating habits just tend to be worse when I am sad or lonely and then I eat to much, but I am trying to work on that and not eat when I am sad or lonely for my health.

I see, most of my soda drinking problems have to do with Coca-Colas they are bad but I see the lighter ones are worse then, I only occasionally drink the light ones though sometimes I would drink Sprite a bit more for say like a upset stomach like people used to say " Eat some saltine crackers and drink some Sprite."

I think if I remember asking her why she salts them and both my Mom & Dad say its due to the acidity and that salt kills some of the acidity in the tomatoes.Yes, she is she grew up herself and her brother on a small farm maybe about 6 or 7 miles from where we live today where a friend of mine and his family lives now. (Though the land and the house doesnt still exist in the same way that it did when she was a girl).

They had pigs and chickens and cows and they sold them and their crops of Tobacco for money for food and things they needed on the farm. And they slaughtered the animals for food from time to tiome as well. 3nodding
