Memory found herself turning back as she felt movement beside her, and although it was dark she was almost sure she could see fright in his expression. Not wanting to make the same mistake that had caused the situation Memory found some of her confidence returning, "As I am to yours.... everything..." She chuckled softly, "...is so strange." She hoped her confession would eas his own discomfort. And although it probably sounded silly she found herself actually taking some comfort, she even found herself relaxing slightly. "You are doing a good job...." She said softly before adding, "Thank you."

Dallon Dallon knew that this wasn't an insult but it still made his eyebrows pinch together with concern. He was unusual. Him and his customs. He was a socially awkward type of stallion who everyday wondered why he wasn't like everybody else. Why couldn't he feel the way most did? It seemed like everybody was on extreme doses of emotions while he was numb, forced to mock their expressions in order to fit in. When the mare explained that he was doing a good job at comforting her though, his troubles seemed to fade. "Yeah?" he asked curiously and leaned his head down, placing it atop of hers, "Good, I want you to be at ease." He sighed and stilled his body for a moment before leaning back to stare down at her gentle face again. Such features that were so easy on the eyes. "You seem lost..." he explained, finding it unusual that she had been out in the rain, not having a place to go, plus her odd reactions and even this sort of vibe he got from her that just screamed outsider. She had a place, though it wasn't here.

Memory felt a little... singed by his intense gaze, as he was looking at her and through her at the same time, all the way to her soul. It was a little disconerning but she tried not to back down now, for the first time in so long she was actually starting to feel a flicker of the old mare she had once been.... before loss and tradegy, before the tatoos had been inked upon her pelt by a two-legger... before everything. And when his heavy weight rested on her head for a moment she couldn't help but flatten her ears and allow it. "Yes," She said with a soft smile as he asked her for reassurance about his 'performance', she had intended to walk into anyone for a long while, she had simply planned to walk. She was now without a place to call home, without a soul to call friend, without a tradition she could rely on for comfort. Everything was changing and shifting before her eyes. And as his next question came she felt a blush cover her cheeks.... could he read her mind? It seemed so, for so many times already he had managed to tap into her innermost fears and questions. She nodded, knowing now that he could see better than she could in the darkness of the cave, and in an ever so soft and quite voice she spoke "...but where would I go? I have no place to call home in this strange world."

Dallon Her acceptance of his touches left him a little nervous. They were allowing him and yet repelling him all at the same time. There were hints, he could feel them, that she wasn't certain about his intentions just yet but he couldn't blame her. He was a strange man, in a strange cave, in this strange world she was uncertain of. How could he blame her for being so careful. If he were in her hooves right now he would be just as cautious as she. Her answer was a little disheartening, however. "Have you been lost all your life? What about your family? Certainly that's home..." he was speaking in that low soothing voice, rich with quality of preserved wine. He rarely spoke so therefore it was a treasure. Though, around this mare, he spoke quite a bit more than his usual ways. "If you are without a home... perhaps we could find you one," it was a simple suggestion. An easy answer to a tough question.

Memory found her brow wrinkling slightly at all of his questions, she supposed it wasn't obvious why she couldn't return back to where the fire had been... but it was too painful. Softly she said, "I did once," the words once more threatened to bring tears to her eyes, "...but.... I can't bring myself to go back there." She had spend a whole week searching every spot she could think of for a survivor, until finally starvation and the need to drink had overwhelmed her, and with a heavy heart she left... having failed in her mission. Of course she would not share that with him, she already felt like a failure and couldn't bare the idea of another seeing her actions as such either. His final words had made everything sound so simple, yet she knew they were not. She had already attempted to settle down, but the pain her her heart had encouraged her to move once more... part of Memory wondered if she would forever be a wanderer now, forever without a solid place to return to or call home, yet she couldn't help but wonder if she was always moving if she all that would matter too much? But Memory knew that deep down she wanted a home, yet she couldn't see that happening unless she somehow managed to find someone to start one with... after all, she would have no reason to stay put overwise. "That is a very kind offer...." she found herself saying, "...but.... I fear it is not so simple."

Dallon Rejection. Never had he expected it to sound so sweet and painful all at the same time. She was giving up on finding a home, he could tell, but he found this to be weak of her. "You sound as though you miss your home, wherever it may be... and yet you refuse to find it... home is where the heart is... "he knew it was cheesy but it was something his mother had once told him when they moved spots on the plane. Dallon recalled missing the sweet apple tree or the large boulder he used to use as home base for tag with his siblings, and yet his mother had been right. He felt content with his family and knew things would come to be alright. He sighed and looked away fromt the girl, looking as though the cogs in his head were grinding. What if he brought this poor soul home with him. His brothers weren't much around but his mother and father would welcome her with open minds, right? He was sure of it. "Perhaps... you might be able to stay with me and my family... if you need a place to stay and company." He was never one who enjoyed a lot of company but he was one who put other's needs before his own and she looked like she desperately needed this.

Anger bubbled up within her, perhaps it was simply because she wanted him to just understand and not have to explain it all, did he not see that her heart was breaking? That the fire had stolen everything and it was not so simple to replace? Yet part of her mind whispered that he may be right, perhaps she was simply a coward? A coward? That was something Memory would never had marked herself as before... yet the facts seem to be overwhelming. Of course that didn't mean she was any less angry, no, now the anger was placed on herself. "MY HEART IS BROKEN!" She found herself shouting, the sounds echoing around her and like music to her ears it felt so good to finally admit it to herself. "Why would I return to the fire sight? To my old home? To constantly be haunted by the ghosts of the past, the ghosts of everything I lost..... no....." She frowned, then to herself she added with a shake of her head, "no....no.... I can't do that to myself." Of course her anger started to disapate as he offered to help her, she was... shocked. An a slight gasp escaped her lips as her head snapped to look at him. "Stay... with you?" She found herself saying, stunned from his offer. No one within her old herd would have offered such a thing, outsiders were not welcome within the herd and those few who had found mates out of its ranks had been banished... her sister was just such a creature, love had stolen her away from her family, and Memory couldn't help but hope she still lived and was happy somewhere, couldn't help but feel that she was the lucky one out of the two.

Dallon Dallon was so stunned by the outburst that his eyes were the size of the moon. That anger, that emotion, that passion. He was jealous. He was so envious of wanting to express and feel and loath having to get upset. He wanted to lose control like that, maybe just once, but no. He wasn't capable of it. When the mare only repeated the question he had imposed on her he felt his hope slipping. "I'm sorry... that must have been... it wasn't my place. I only thought that perhaps it would be the start of a fresh beginning," his voice was softer than its usual, hesitant at parts. "I see that I have upset you though... I will leave this cave to you and take refuge else where..." he hoisted his body off of the ground, tucking his wings as he headed towards the entrance of the waterfall. It was still pouring but that hardly seemed to matter to him.

Memory blinked and then blinked again, her heart suddenly racing within her small form, and her body actually missing the warmth and weight of his wing and body against her.... she didn't understand it, and she didn't stop to question it, if she did she knew he would leave this cave and she would never see him again. When she had repeated his question she had merely been so overwhelmed by his offer... not that she had decided to take him up on it... but .... she had never wanted to hurt him. He had.... been so kind to her. Blunt and to the point, yet his last words had been hesitant and almost nervous, the change almost shocking her... she had caused that change! Without thinking Memory stood up and ran towards him and the cave entrance, and since he wasn't running she somehow managed to outstep his larger stride and beat him to the waterfall entrance. Behind her it roared to life as she faced Dallon, her eyes looking at the shadow that was coming closer and closer to the waterfalls edge. "Stop.... please." The plea surprised her, but she didn't allow it to stop her. "You don't need to leave...." There was passion and determination within her features as she stared at him, if she had to she would tackle him.... this was his cave, she had interupted him. If anyone should leave, it should be her.

Dallon He heard a shuffle behind him. The clip clop of hoves came next. Finally, a swift blur came up on his left and blocked his body from taking any further steps. "Why?" he simply spoke, tilting his head as he assumed that one word was enough to sum it all up. Why over use your voice when you can get so much across with such few syllibles. When her words expressed that he didn't need to leave this cave and her in it he thought it was for selfish reasons rather than those of guilt. "Ah, loneliness?" He eyed her, waiting impatiently for the girl to respond.

A look of hurt covered Memory's features as Dallon spoke... did he really think so little of her? She supposed it was to be expected, he was an angel and she was nothing but a broken regular mare. Still, it hurt! And although she didn't know why she felt as if another crack had appeared on her heart.... had she really considered him a friend or companion? Even after such a small time? Yes, the answer was simple enough. She had spoken to him about things that pained her, things that she had hid from everyone else since her agony had started.
She looked away from him, unable to look at the features that had come into the light... she had no right to stay here, and it was clear that he felt no connection towards her... if anything he saw her as a pathetic creature that needed to beg for company to sooth her loneliness... and even if that was slightly true she was too proud to let him say so to her face.
It was for all those reasons that she turned towards the waterfall, her hooves making a gentle 'clip-clop' on the wet rocky surface. She braced herself for a moment before taking a step through the waterfalls curtain. The beads of water battered her pelt, soaking her once more.... but she would not turn back, she would not cave even with the coldness returning to her body more swiftly than before. That would be a weakness that she couldn't permit herself.
For a moment she simply stood behind the curtain looking out at the rain drenched world... where was she to go?

Dallon felt a swift pain swoop into his heart the moment Memory's face contorted into that look of unpleasantness. Had he truly harmed her with such a bitter statement. It seemed as if it did more harm than the icy rain that had beaten down upon her moments ago. Never did Dallon wish to cause harm in any way, especially to the heart, but some things were unavoidable. The moment that the broken girl turned her back on him he knew he couldn't take it back. Still, he could try to mend the old scars he had reopened.
His eyes studied carefully as she neared the waterfall's curtain. Perhaps she was drawn in by the beauty of how it blurred the reality of the world, leaving everything a stunning mess. Then she stepped through. The purple stallion's brows lifted slightly in alarm as she left him in the comfort of the cave and ventured out towards the cruel weather. "Are you mad?" he muttered under his breath, not truly wishing for the mare to hear before he stepped out under the waterfall's heavy drench. He, now just as cold as she. "Back inside," he spoke with a firm and demanding tone underlying his usual monotone vocals. His wing stretched out and covered her to the best of it's ability, wanting to save even a patch of warmth on her body.
