Annabell nodded softly, "Yes, fallen stars are rare.... but my herd has been searching for them for many years. My great-grandmother found one many years ago..... it is written that the star has protected us for years, but that the magic will fade. So we continue to search." Part of Annabell feared she was sharing too much, yet at the same time she wanted to repay this stallion in some way.... and what better way than a story when you have nothing else to give?
She sniffed the air, something sweet and sour lingered in the air. "What's that smell?" She asked as she tried to locate the source, it seemed to be coming from the drinks her was puring... and Annabell found she couldn't resist trying to get her nose a little closer.

Cael Cael smiled and watched her, listening to the story. "Its the tea I made, herbs and lemon, to help chase the cold away and hopefully prevent any illness." He liked stories and as far as he was concerned they could all be true, after all he believed things others didn't so why should he choose to question the choices of others. "I've not seen a fallen star I'm afraid, otherwise I'd point you in whtever direction it was."
Leaning down when teh drinks had cooled a little, drinking some from th dish nearest him, letting her decide what to eat and drink or say when. He was an oddly calming fellow to be around, though he had a childish smile filled with delight.

Annabell nodded softly as he told her about the Lemons. "They smell...." she sniffed again, "...delicious." She had never had tea and lemon before, but was more than happy to try something new. Copying his lead she lowered her head, perhaps a little cautious as she suspected it was hotter than she would usually expect a drink to be, but all the same she was determined. Her lips touched the warm silky liquid first, then her toungue as she lapped up the liquid. It wasn't hot-hot, but a subtle warm. But the taste.... she scrunched up her face a little at the sharp tang hit her tongue. It wasn't that she didn't like it... it was just, unexpected. "Different" she coughed as she went back for seconds.
After her second attempt she found she was more used to the sharp taste of the lemons, and decided to focus once more on their conversation. She appreciated the thought that he would simply tell her the direction of something as precious as a fallen star.... though part of Annabell's heart wanted her to find it on her own. Maybe then she could show that she was worthy of doing more than looking good. She sighed, but thanked him none the less. "Thank you, that is very sweet of you." Her tummy grumbled again, and a soft blush covered her cheeks.... she eyed the food before her, then looked at her companion before deciding that needs must.... she simply hoped that he hadn't lied about having plenty of food, she would feel eternally guilty should she be eating the last of his supplies.

Cael Cael went a little darker pink, he hadn't been called sweet since he was a foal, and certainly never by another soquili. He scuffed his toe a little where he sat, seeming to not mind at all when she ate more. It wasn't in his habit to lie or keep things from others, then again he had grown up doing things for others for litte more payment than whatever covered basic needs. His mother had not charged for her services as a healer but she never refused when given some seeds or a pouch of grain. Whatever they hadn't grown themselves they had either been given or found.
Smiling to the mare, seeming a little sad, he always felt a twinge of sadness when he thought of his human mother and how he had not been able to do anything for her. But then she had been an old woman when she found hm alone and lost in the woods no more than a basket. He had been a companion and helper to her, and she had taught him everything. "Lemons can be a little sharp, but they are good for when you have a cold."
Standing he went to his litttle cabinet area and brought back a small lump carefully in his teeth and dropped it into the hot tea where it melted. "There is should be sweeter now." Smiling at her again and fetching more fruit and veg before settling again, having placed them in the dish she was eating from. The small piece of rock sugar had melted by this time. "It should be sweeter now."

Annabell eyed him curiously, the way he did things... they almost seemed Human. Part of Annabell wanted to find out more, yet at the same time she didn't want to come across as rude. So for now she would stay quite, and simply observe the beautifully marked stallion. "Thank you." She nodded, taking the first sip of the now 'sweeter' liquid. He was right, it did indeed taste sweeter.... unable to not ask she said, "What did you add?" Perhaps she could learn a few things to take back to the herd with her? After all it wasn't often that you got to learn new skills from someone.
Yet as she watched Cael, Annabell couldn't help but see a saddness in him. Was it something she had said or done?

Cael "Sugar, you can find rocks of it in some places, so I bring them here and break them into small little pebbles, they are very handy for sweetening medicines and teas that are good for the health but dont taste so nice." Smiling softly not seeming to mind questions at all, he preferred them to awkward silences. "Some even eat the chunks on their own as a sweet treat."

"Sugar....?" She had never heard of such a thing, but that didn't make her any less curious. "How do you know about this... sugar.... and lemon?" She hoped her question wasn't rude for she was genuinely interested, after all she had never heard of such things, she supposed the herd healer may know but such things had never interested her much.
Still curious about him, she cautiously asked him another question, "What kind of medicines do you make?"

Cael Cael smiled that sad smile again. "My mother... I learnt everything from her, she used to ge all kinds of things given for her help and would take me with her when she went looking for herbs and other incrediants for her medicines and poltices... When I was very small she would let me have sugard fruit as a special treat, but that was only when I was small, too much sugar makes teeth hurt aparently, bt a little now and then does no harm." Looking at teh fire as he continues. "Lemons grow on trees, much like apples, oranges and many other types of fruit, something in them helps refresh and clear the head, especially good if your ill and have a befuddled head because of feaver or a runny nose."
Pondering over what medicines he made, it was hard to tell exactly. "I make whatever is needed, I keep herbs all the time just in case medicine or poltice is needed, and I always make them to order, it works better for the one taking or using it then."

Annabell couldn't help but a feel a twang to her own heart with as the sad smile appeared on his face, and for a moment part of her wanted to do anything to see him smile with joy and happiness once more. Perhaps it would have been better for him to have never met her.... how cruel life could be at times. Each person wrapped in threads, some leading to happiness, some to sadness, and some entwined so that the only way to reach the happy ending was to live through the hardships. "I'm sorry...." she said softly, "...for your mother." He didn't have to say it but Annabell had already gathered that she had passed.
Her curiousity returned a little as he spoke of lemons growing on trees, and of too much sugar being bad for your teeth. "You are very smart...." she said in a bewildered voice.

Cael Cael nodded in thanks, not feeling the need to say more about that, they seemed to have a mutual unerstanding about what had happened, tohugh not the whole story, and while it saddened him he was also happy to think of other times with his mother. Chucklign softly at her comment. "some would disagree, but thank you, I'm happy you think so. Its not anything that anyone couldn't learn with teaching and time tohugh."

Annabell nodded softly then found her cheeks blushing. Part of her wasn't sure she could learn it.... no matter how hard she tried, or how hard the teacher tried. She found that at times things simply didn't seem to want to sink it. It was... frustrating. But at least she still had a use, she could heal minor injuries and illnesses, and she was as determined as any member of her herd to find a fallen star before the magic faded. Perhaps that was all there was for her? Or perhaps there was more? Rumours were circulating the herd that her Mother, the herds alpha would soon be standing down, and that the responisbility would fall to Annabell..... she gulped out loud, not really aware of her actions as she was consumed by her thought. How could she lead then? She was a little too selfish for that.... she wouldn't even take a mate in fear that it would end her life! No.... someone else would have to become Alpha. Someone smart and strong, someone who would continue the line....

Cael Cael watched her quietly, the expressions crossing her face, and while he didn't want to intrude he decided to make an offer. "Is somehting troubling you that you want to talk about?" The answer was probably going to be no, it as a rare person that unweighed their burdans onto a total strainger.

Annabell found herself startled by Cael's words, it was as he had just woken her up from a dream... or perhaps a nightmare. She blushed brightly, her cheeks feeling as if they were on fire. "Em... em... sorry...." she lowered her head in shame, "....how rude of me. Please forgive me." It was then that his offer sunk in, she smiled polietly at him but shook her head, "Thank you.... but I would not burden you with my troubles."

Cael Cael nodded and finished his tea. "No trouble, and n need to be sorry." Leaning over he dragged another log from the small pie near him onto the fire, feeling much warmer and dryer himself, thoug he had no idea when the rain was going to let up.

Annabell smiled again, it was easy being around Cael, he didn't seem to push her to say more than she wanted, to do more than she could..... she wondered if he knew just how sweet he was. "Thank you." She said with a smile, as he eyes looked to the entrance of the cave, she could still hear the thundering raindrops as they splashed hard on the ground. "I wonder when it will stop." She said absently.
