"Not everyone believes the same... Differences are good, but sometimes I wish we all equally longed for peace..." Kiarei murmured, her eyes hooding and ears drooping a little.
There were times in which she longed for everyone to be less different than herself and many of the other healers in the world were. Perhaps if everyone believed that Majin weren't all terrible deep down then there would be less Witch Eaters, less fighting and death. However, deep down, she knew that it was a foolish dream to have. People were meant to be different, even if their differences lead to death and destruction instead of healing and peace.
Kia blinked at the boy's comment, flushing a little, flattered by the compliment, and smiling warmly. "Thank you... Though, you give me hope as well."
She blinked at the mention of her parents, smiling a little, her thoughts wandering back to the home that she had left behind after she had graduated. Her family had been kind if not a little stern in many ways. Kia always had had a rather strict schedule when it came to her studies and she had rarely been allowed to go out. When she had gone to the Academy it had gotten a little better, but it had been difficult to break out of her normal regiment. Despite that she knew that they had cherished her and had simply wanted the best for her, despite the way they had gone about it.
"They are good parents. I was their only child, yes." she answered before her ears perked and her eyes lit up a little when she was finally given the boy's name. "It is very nice to meet you, Philemon."
Kiarei blinked at the rather deep bow before smiling, restraining herself from laughing happily; she didn't want it to seem as if she was making fun of him. In fact she found the way he acted quite endearing, really. It was nice to meet someone like Phil, someone very similar to her and willing to talk to someone that was so odd and hermit-like. Then again she supposed that most healers had a certain strangeness to them that caused them to be fascinated with things that most other witches were not.
"Alright. Tea it is." Kiarei smiled brightly, gesturing for Phil to follow her before heading towards her home. "I hope you don't mind that I make my own teas... My home isn't far from here, also, so it won't be a long walk. Besides the morning is quite nice for a walk, don't you think?"

Phil watched Kiarei closely, noticing how much more obvious her feelings were to read due to her animal-like features. Her ears and tail seemed to betray her moods on instinct although some sort of sly mononoke might have been able to trick people in the same way by mimicking different moods instead. It was fascinating but not something you could ask about, instead he'd rather simply observe it. "...there always has to be an underside." Phil mumbled, thoughtfully. There were some things that he couldn't as much as dream of speaking -because as soon as something is not known it might as well have never happened- but knew them as an undeniable reality all the same. He was living proof of that principle, after all. "In reality, deep down, I think most people do though, humans and Majin alike." he admitted with a small sigh. He'd rarely dare to speak of his thoughts in fear of being shunned, however, Kia didn't seem like a person who would shun him simply because he believed that the Majin weren't just bloodthirsty monsters.
Phil chuckled softly at Kia's reciprocation of the compliment and nodded his head firmly in acceptance. "I suppose its our secondary occupation, isn't it? Giving people hope." they were making quite the pair, really, talking about things like that. A third person might seriously think them weird but Phil honestly couldn't care less right now, his new-found friend mattered more.
"I see." Phil smiled warmly when he was given the details about Kia's family. Of course he couldn't have possibly expected her to have as many siblings as he had in any case. "You must have been quite cherished, in that case." she was such a kind soul, after all, Phil couldn't as much as imagine anyone would be as downright evil as to mistreat such a nice young lady. A lady who was kind enough not to laugh in his face with his proper-mannered antics or call him naive and deluded. Her smile was almost like a small sun itself, radiating inner warmth that wasn't exactly apparent at first but seemed to grow the longer he spent time with her.
Phil rushed ahead to keep up with Kia, ever whimsical. "No, no~ I don't mind at all." Phil chuckled. "Actually, I'm the same way~ I invent my own brews as well." he nodded. "Although it would appear mine aren't really as enjoyable as I'd like for some people..." his brother would rant on endlessly about how bitter they were after all. Phil drank them himself and they didn't seem halfway that bad... but then again he never really shared his brother's excess love for sugar. "Walks are always refreshing." he nodded absentmindedly. "Especially when taken with pleasant company such as this." he spoke the words without thinking, as always, and realized that he might have been extremely straightforward the second after.

"I hope they do..." Kiarei breathe, her eyes hooding. "I believe we can all exist as one... Together."
Perhaps it was strange for her to believe that Majins were not so different from humans, but she had been taught tolerance by her parents. To believe that Majins were in any way, shape, or form were less human than anyone else seemed foreign to her, especially as a healer. All she wanted was to help everyone, no matter who or what they were. If that made her seem strange to others then so-be-it, but she truly hoped that one day it would become normal for everyone to accept everyone, not matter race or beliefs.
At Phil's next comment she smiled brightly and gave a small nod. "Yes, I suppose that it is."
Kiarei flushed a little and smiled brightly at the mention of being cherished by her parents. She truly hoped that she had made them proud by working so hard, by forging a life for herself with only what she had worked for, what she had earned. She did cherish her relationship with her parents despite the fact that it had been a bit strained as she got older. They were excellent role models and had raised her well, she hoped, along with giving her a good financial, educational, and moral foundation to build upon.
"Perhaps we will need to trade secrets!" she answered, smiling brightly at Phil as she continued to lead him down the path. "Yes... I'm glad you're enjoying my company."
Mentally she added that few did enjoy her company, really. Typically she was seen as odd and boring to other, what with her joy for raising plants and herbs along with harvesting them. She supposed that her interest was more a niche than anything considering how few seemed to enjoy it. Actually Phil was one of the few that seemed to appreciate the art of growing herbs just as much as she did and it was rather refreshing.
"May I ask what you were looking for?" Kia finally asked, ears perked in curiosity. "Perhaps I have some in stock."

Phil smiled tenderly at Kia and nodded his head. If he was just slightly easier to get all emotional he was sure to have been moved to tears. He was so used in getting shunned, rejected, overlooked... even bullied about his views on the matter that to hear that someone else actually shared his ideals was something incredible... somewhat of a miracle, truly. "Y-you know..." his voice caught even though he was smiling brighter than what he had all morning. "I-It's the first time..." he shook his head, fighting to breathe regularly just so he wouldn't cry, because he didn't want for the poor girl to think that she had somehow upset him when she had made him so very happy instead. "It's the first time I listen to someone other than myself say that..." he admitted. What people where wasn't who they were. There was a huge distance between the two things. It was like saying there were only good humans and only bad Majin folk and such a thing could only ever be untrue but it was what most people believed anyway.
For the better or worse there always had to be two sides in things. Reality was the same for them, he supposed. For all those people that wished for war there had to be some to wish for peace also. There was no other way, nothing else to do. He was almost certain of that fact. And there, they had to stand strong even if they were but a few, otherwise the balance would be lost, the scales would tilt dangerously and... Phil didn't want to think what came next. So, for the sake of everyone they were trying to help and protect they couldn't afford to be weak.
And it had been incredible to be able to see Kia smiling so brightly at all times; and he'd repeat it in his mind so not to forget, incredible. Because of her initial disposition and the way he had been treated upon first met, it made him regard the fact as yet another miracle -and when he woke up that morning he'd never have guessed his day would be so full of them- it made him feel sincerely content and happy to be able to watch her like this and instilled in him the wish to always see her as happy. He knew it to be impossible, after all no person, however upbeat, could keep being happy all the time.
"There's nothing really 'secret' about them, really." Phil laughed. "So of course I'll love to trade with you." after all Kia was older and more experienced, having been in the 'field' for longer than he had even if Phil had started experimenting a while before he entered the academy, always having an affinity for potions. "Why, I doubt there's anyone who could not enjoy your company, as a matter of fact." he chuckled, teasing lightly while also being truthful to what he thought.
"Well..." Phil started before sighing softly and shrugging. "As of now... Saffron mainly, considering how hard it is to grow and harvest properly. I have several plants growing, but until they do I cannot make powder out of them." obviously, he sighed mentally to himself. "And I have a hard time trusting the potency of the one sold by sellers downtown." he added with a small frown. There was no way they paid enough attention to grow and care for the plant as they should not to mention harvest it at the exactly right time to process it when all they seemed to care about was making money, not medicine. "So I'm in somewhat of a pickle, you see." he laughed awkwardly at admitting that, scratching the back of his neck with one hand.

Kiarei blinked as the witch seemed to stumble a little over his words even though he was smiling. He seemed full of emotion... Though whether the emotion was positive or not she wasn't able to discern at that point. She grew more concerned as he seemed to continue to struggle with this words, worried that she possibly may have offended him somehow. However when he finally finished what he was trying to say, she couldn't help but offer him a brilliant smile. It was wonderful that he could feel so strongly about equality between Majins and Humans, just as she did. Then again she supposed that it was a borderline necessity when it came to being a healer.
"I know how you feel... So many people are filled with hate anymore..." She shook her head, sad that their world was filled with such negativity.
In truth she had never actually met a majin herself, but she did know that physically they didn't look any different from humans. She also knew that, just like humans, they made the choice of whether to become evil or remain good. She had seen acts even more horrible than what some majin did done by humans, so she believed that they were both capable of terrible things equally. It simply wasn't fair that judgement was passed so easily on majins as if humans were the greater race.
"Flatterer." she teased, winking at him as she walked. "Perhaps we will learn a great deal from one another."
When he admitted what he was missing she tilted her head a little, as she thought. Saffron was difficult to grow, a plant which required delicate care and hours of work in order to coax into health. However, if she remembered correctly, she had grown a small batch not too long ago and had dried it for later use. She smiled at Phil, nodding her head and tapping her bottom lip with her index finger.
"I believe I may have harvested some not long ago. When can check once we get to my home if you would like?" she offered, folding her hands behind her back as her small home and fields of herbs came into view.
At the mention of the herb dealers in town she grimaced a little. Often her parents had mentioned that the city's herbs were much lower quality when compared to the herbs they grew. All that most of the city herb growers were interested in was profit and, thus, more on quantity than quality. However she believed that due to the quality of her and her parent's herbs, they would never want for business, unlike the competition in the city.
"They always rush their harvests... Sadly. I hope that I can find the herbs that you are looking for." Kia offered him another small smile as she led him up the path to her home, finally; it really wasn't all that far at all.
Rows of various, labeled herbs were on either side of them as they walked, filling the air with a mixture of aromas as their blooms began to open in the morning sun. Her home was small, made of strong, treated wood from the forest and stones from the river for her fireplace and chimney. She half turned, offering Phil a hesitant smile as they drew closer to the door of her house.
"...It isn't much, but it's home."

Phil was given a chance and a blessing when he was born as the twin to a Majin. He had always seen it as the trigger, the first encounter, the option he was given to understand -more than many- just how similar the humankind was to Majin and how small a difference it made whether the person on your side was one or not. Many would argue that the prospect of sitting by someone that could, perhaps, suck your soul out without as much as trying that hard wasn't very favourable but the chance of this happening where just as many as sitting by a very human murderer all the same. Everyone has equal capacity for good and evil and there was also a person who taught him that beyond any shadow of doubt. But he couldn't bring himself to answer Kia's words knowing them to be just as true. There was indeed so much hate and pain that he had to often wish himself away in order for it to just stop. But then again he couldn't do that either. It was too unfair for everyone else.
"I did not intend no flattery." Phil returned, smiling brightly. "I only speak the subjective truth as I witness it." he laughed, tucking his hands in his pockets and leaning backwards a bit in an attempt to rest his back while walking. He had always been kind to ladies after all, all the more reason to be twice as much to a person as wonderful as Kia had proven herself to be. He had no doubt that there was a lot to be learned out of this meeting either. It was rare that such a chance would present itself after all.
"That's a relief~" he beamed when she mentioned she might have what he needed. "It would be lovely, thank you." he made sure to offer in advance while trailing after her all the while. It would be wonderful if she could, in fact, help and he was certain that the quality would be good by what he had seen so far. After all Kiarei went as far as to talk to her plants as if they were real people, there was no way she wouldn't care for them adequately. In the end a little love and care was all plants needed. They weren't that much different from human beings in that fashion. They even had voices according to some witches that were a lot closer to nature than he was.
"That they do..." Phil sighed looking around him at the path they were taking, trying to memorize the route to there to find it easier next time he'd be around. "It really lowers the quality so..." he shook his head and shrugged at his words. He was hard to trust those kind of sellers anyway. He had visited one of their city greenhouses once and found their plants to be poorly taken care of; especially in comparison to Kia's neatly arranged plants that seemed to be thriving all around her small, beautiful home.
"Ah~ what do you mean it's not much!" he exclaimed following Kia up to her door. "It's perfect!" he laughed. His own house was equally small but really, Kia's home was unmatched for its natural beauty. He wasn't sure why anyone would want something more. He looked at his surroundings once more and sighed softly. "Looks like something out of a fairytale..." he concluded with a nod of the head.

Kiarei flushed a little at the compliment, smiling a little. It had been quite some time since someone has bestowed so many compliments on her and she wasn't accustomed to it. Perhaps she needed to venture forth from her modest little home more often or, perhaps, simply encounter more strangers. She certainly seemed to be doing a lot of that recently, something that amused her more than anything, but Phil seemed to share a lot of her views and hobbies. It wasn't often that one encountered someone that felt like they were you in another skin, really.
"If there's anything else you'd like, also, just let me know." she finally added, smiling brightly. "I can even special grow herbs if you would like to request something."
She blinked at the comment, turning back to look at Phil, ears perked, before she laughed softly, glancing around. Kiarei supposed she could see where it might look fairy tale-esque, really, but she could see a few hints of it. Though, usually, cottages in the woods spelled trouble for those in fairy tale stories so she wasn't certain that was a good thing. Then again, she supposed that those cottages usually very pretty and inviting so she supposed that she should take it as a compliment.
"Thank you... Though I thought castles were the things in fairytales." she mused, smiling as she moved to open the door, holding it for him. "Here. After you."
Her home was modest, the furniture simple and wooden, as well as her shelving and drawers for herbs. Eeverything was kept neat and clean, everything in order, as she had left it that morning. Smiling she moved to fill a large kettle and set it in the fireplace. She lit the fire with a bit of magic, peering about at the blossoms in the pots placed on flat surfaces throughout her home. She then looked back to Phil, smiling.
"Make yourself at home. I'll see about getting you some tea and checking on that herb..."
