All his troubles were so easily forgotten with her lips, and his eyes lifted back up to meet hers as she spoke. Was it true, what she was saying? She needed him; his heart beat a little faster. Her whispered words were enough to soothe his temper, until he could hardly believe the mindset he'd been in mere moments before. His features softened and she brought a genuine smile to his face for the first time that night. It was true, he couldn't change what had happened to her. But she was home and she was safe and she was still his. Nothing had changed; nothing would change.
His hands moved lightly down her newly-exposed sides until he unconsciously slid them around behind her to support her during her precarious embrace. His fingers settled like bridges across deep grooves in her back. "You don't need anyone to do that. You're perfect, remember?"
All the excitement didn't change that Khal was running on starseeds and stamina, and there was very little left of both in his system by now. For a moment he swayed unsteadily, then leaned his forehead against Alkaid's, just below the fissure. His eyes closed, and he exhaled a breath that was a laugh and a sigh all at once. "I'm really tired."

The brush of his fingers along her skin sent shivers up her spine. She dropped her forehead to his shoulder very briefly to hide the smile on her lips, settling against him when his hands found their place against the small of her back. She would have stayed like that forever if he hadn't spoke, and if she couldn't already hear the exhaustion in his voice.
"Only to you," she whispered back, holding her smile in place as she brought her eyes up to meet his again. Her hands slid from the back of his neck, trailing upward to cup his face in them and hold him there with her for a few moments. Then they relaxed and fell to his arms as she started to turn in the circle they made around her. She tugged lightly at his forearms and took an awkward step towards the exit, holding him close at the same time she tried to walk. It was awkward, but made her laugh under her breath at the same time.
"Let's go lay down in the bedroom, you'll sleep better there." Plus, it had enough room that she could simply curl up with him, even if she she was beginning to realize she was strangely not tired at all after everything she had been through. The smile she was holding in place faltered over that realization and his words about being perfect echoed in her head very briefly.
Then she brushed it away and smiled at him over her shoulder. They could talk about it after he slept.
