My lad is quite easy to please, My lad is quite easy to please, My lad is quite easy to please, My lad is quite easy to please---
Tasryn’s words reverberated around in her already over-emotional mind, searing with each syllable, driving invisible nails deeply in the blooming hope that she had allowed to sprout as they had teased and toyed with each other only moments before.
‘At least she let me down gently, just shrug it off--- just--- shrug it off--- you know better than to get your hopes up Quinnie---why do you always do this---.’ Chastising herself venomously the longhaired brunette could feel her eyes starting to moisten, pink shades subtly claimed the pigment under her tightly shut eyes as she fought back the tears and began to replace the helpless feeling of lonesome and disappointment with pure unbridled anger. The scarred and calloused skin at her knuckles turned white as she balled her fist at her sides and let out a gruff sigh.
“Tasryn---I will be right back---” Snapping on her heels Quindrife fell into a full run down the hallway, her long toned legs hammering with each stride that she took to get further and further away from the older girl. There was no way that she would allow the starcrafter to see her so venerable. Twisting through hallway after hallway the tomboy finally tucked herself in a stairwell that saw little use. “She is still your friend…”
Her attempt at comforting herself failed leaving the muscular girl drawing her hands up and bracing herself against the smooth stone structure of the wall. That should have been good enough, friendship. But it wasn’t, it never was. Snarling loudly Quindrife rapped her fists against the stone, each time she pulled back she hit it again twice as hard.
“It isn’t fair, it isn’t fair, it isn’t fair, it isn’t fair!” The mantra poured from her lips with each strike that she dealt to the wall, she wasn’t angry at Tasryn, not in the slightest bit, every ounce of anger that she unleashed and bludgeoned against the makeshift punching bag was directed solely at herself. Panting heavily Quindrife slid to the floor with her bloodied knuckles dripping at the cracked and torn skin and sat with her knees pulled against her small chest, stoic and somber; without tears.
‘I just need a few more minutes to collect myself then I will go back.’

'Oh shard it all..' She really should've explained more, shouldn't she? Making a face at herself, she set the basket back down and stood up just as a rather loud noise made itself known. Oh. No, no, no. Baston hadn't gotten up already had he? Eyes widened in fear as she slowly turned around in time to catch a small body in her chest. Arms wrapped around it automatically and before she could even utter a noise, loud chattering breached her ears. Tidus was not pleased with his. He couldn't find her! She was not there when he woke up and all he could see was a tunnel when he sought her out.
Ouch.
Shaking her head in an attempt to stop the ringing, a small apologetic smile pulled at her lips. "I'm sorry, little one. I did not mean to scare you!" Words were muttered before she loosened her hold and allowed him to crawl back up to her shoulder. "Hm, do me a favor, love? Find someone for me?" The blue tilted his head, eyes whirling in curiosity. The girl quickly showed him an image of Quindrife before he chirped an affirmitive and pushed off her shoulder, heading deeper into the tunnel with Tasryn speeding to keep up with him.
Why had she gone so far from her? Tasryn had been following her blue down this tunnel for a good while and still no sign of Quindrife. "Those long legs of hers.." She mumbled, before slowing down from her jog to a walk. She was panting quite hard, all this exercise today was surely going to have her sleep well tonight. But it was just so hard! How could someone move so fast?! "Quindrife you dim glow!" She yelled down the tunnel with her fist clenched against her sides. Stupid, stupid girl. Her knees buckled and she slid over to press her back against the wall. Tidus had stopped his searching and went back to perch himself on her knee, eyes glowing yellow as he stared at her in concern. "I'm fine. I'm fine."
A hand reached out to stroke his head and a frown appeared on her lips. "At least you won't leave me, hm? That's a good boy. As soon as I catch my breath I'll get you something to eat." The image of food was enough to cheer the blue up and his eyes calmed back to their natural green. As long as his was okay, he could allow himself to not worry as much. Tidus shifted and moved up her leg to curl himself on her stomach. No, he would never leave his when she was feeling lonely. She was, after all, stuck with him.
Chuckling, she continued to stroke his hide. "Yep, my lad is quite easy to please, aren'tcha?"

‘Quindrife you dim glow!’
The sound of Tasryn’s voice roused the brunette from her bitter thoughts, shaking her head Quindrife found herself rising to her feet. Shoving her bloodied hands into her trouser pockets the longhaired brunette casually strolled out from her hiding spot in the small nook while clearing her throat in an effort to sound nonchalant upon her approach.
“That was rather mean Tas,” gruffly announced the tomboy, her stormy gray hues still held hints of pink at the edges of her lower eyelids. “I told you I would be right back---”
Trailing off the broad-shouldered seventeen-turn-old found the forced pleasant expression on her face falter, the older girl was seated with her back against a wall panting and visibly worn out. That sight didn’t help the already horrible feeling that was harboring deeply within her chest, rolling her defined muscular shoulders Quindrife stopped a few feet away from the girl and crouched without removing her hands from her pockets.
Blink.
At times she amazed herself at how she could not notice something that was so obvious, the protective little blue flit sat perched at the bowed knee of Tasryn softly chirping and crooning towards the candidate. She had really done it this time hadn’t she? Trying to refrain from reaching out to stroke the shimmering blue creature Quindrife chewed on the corner of her lip uncomfortably.
“And who do we have here,” lamely inquired the brunette in attempt to break the ice in the air. “I didn’t know that you Impressed to a blue--- does he have a name? How long ’ave you had him?” Genuinely the awkwardly built girl was curious about the draconic winged-beast regardless of her normal outlook on flits. She personally had never really understood why so many people had firelizards as companions, her mother had always told her horror stories about the ravenous squawking nippers yet everyone that had one was elated to be bonded to it. Honestly she didn’t understand what was so wonderful about them and perhaps she would never know, maybe one day in the near future she would understand what it would be like to Impress to one of the jewel eyed beauties but for now the longhaired brunette was at a complete loss of enlightenment.
Peering at Tasryn’s face Quindrife rocked back and forth of the heels and balls of her feet waiting for the lass to lash out at her, call her a dim glow to her face. At least that way it would give the tomboy a reason to avoid the petite older girl.

"So was leaving me alone." Tas muttered, a slight frown pulling at her lips as fingers continued to stroke the velvety hide of Tidus. Amber peeked from the corners of her eyes to glance over at the taller girl. Something was amiss with her. Even from her position on the ground it looked as if she'd been crying. Well...shard it all. She really was bad at this kinda stuff, wasn't she? Her first attempts at making a real friend and she ended up making them cry instead. Just lovely.
Sighing quietly, she turned her head towards Quindrife as soon as she crouched down. She might not be quite ready to forgive her for abandoning her just yet, but Tidus was something she could talk about. "Hm, this is my boy, Tidus. I got 'em a few days after I arrived here." A smile slowly appeared on her face as she looked down at her companion, fingers moving to scratch at his eyelid as his eyes moved to stare at Quin. This was the one who had left his all alone and unprotected? Unforgivable!
The little blue spread his wings out and stood up straight before starting to let her know how annoyed he was with her. In loud, obnoxious chiding. "He's very protective." Tasryn offered in explanation, before resuming the scratching that had been interrupted by his need to rant. Tidus' wings sagged for a moment before they curled back close to his body and eyes that had gone orange easily swirled back to their normal green coloration. "Like I said earlier though...he's quite easy to please."
A small grin was flashed in the younger girl's direction before she noticed the strange way the girl was crouching. "What's wrong with your hands?" Scooping the blue in her arms, much to his displeasure, she pushed herself from the ground and closed the distance between the two. "Show 'em to me?" Eyes gazed down at Quin as she offered a hand to the other, not even batting an eye as Tidus climbed up her body to position himself on her shoulder.

“I didn’t think you would get so upset---I said I would be back---I just needed to go calm down after that little run in with Baston. I was still upset. That is all. I didn’t want you to see me like that----I didn’t want to scare you.” Genuinely it was part of the truth, at least to a degree, she just didn’t want the girl to see her upset, Baston had nothing to do with it. With every ounce of hope torn into spreads Quindrife had no reason to be embarrassed around the older candidate, even with that mindset the near six-foot tall girl found her stomach still twisting with nerves. Again she found herself feeling horrible and ashamed of herself as the glistening blue flit puffed himself up and began to screech his displeasure towards her. ‘Sorry Tidus, I just--- she is so pretty--- I didn’t mean to be rude--- I just like her is all and--- now I feel so stupid for leaving her alone like that--- you have to believe me--- I just--- I am such a dolt--- I deserve to be yelled at’ Her eyes refused to lift from the floor as she projected her skittish thoughts towards the well taken care of flitter, her shoulders went slag in unison with Tidus’ wings almost as if the two had planned it that way but for completely polar opposite reasons.
Tasryn’s voice caught the tomboy by complete surprise. She had meant he was her lad, that was completely misleading and as non-intentional as it was; hurtful. Pink once against surfaced brightly near the edges of the woman’s eyes but the brunette pushed down the emotional tears.
‘What's wrong with your hands?’ Shard it all! Panic clouded over whatever suppressed turmoil that was lurking deep within the awkwardly built candidate girl, she couldn’t think of a lie fast enough, she didn’t know what to do or say--- staggering to keep her balance Quindrife felt her eyes glistening and her body tighten. ‘Show 'em to me?’ Fidgeting from foot to foot the younger girl nodded and reluctantly withdrew her mangled hands from out of her trouser pockets. The bruised skin held hues of purples and the busted flesh at the knuckles flared with an angry red.
“It isn’t as bad as it looks---” bashfully observed the gray eyed tomboy while rotating the thumb on her left hand. “It doesn’t hurt. So it isn’t important.”

The blue continued to eye the other girl warily, as if unsure he shouldn't just attack her face with his teeth and claws. But...a few pictures from Tasryn was enough for him to settle down on her shoulder with a sound that could only be described as a fire lizard's translation of a huff. Well, if his really didn't want him to be mean to the tall person he wouldn't. One step outta line from her though..and boom! Tidus would be there! His tail wrapped around the older girl's neck possessively.
His partner however, was staring in horror at the girl's hands. What happened? A slight gasp passed her lips and she reached out only to stop half way. "Wha did you do?" She mumbled, tilting her head this way and that in order to take in how the girl had managed to mangle her hands. Shells! Did Baston really upset her that much? Tasryn looked from her hands to Quindrife's face before frowning. "Liar. I don' care if it doesn't hurt or not." A hand shot out to grab her wrist and attempted to pull the girl up. "We're gonna go find a healer. These need looked at."
A flash of amber turned into a glare as she stared up at Quindrife. "No whining or tryin' to get outta it." Huffing, she turned on her heel with her hand still wrapped around the girl's wrist. Tugging slightly, she started to head back down the tunnel. Forget the glow duty, she'd come back and finish it afterwards. Quindrife needed to get her hands wrapped up soon lest it get infected or something of the like. Nope, she couldn't have her friend getting like that. After all, she'd already made her cry apparently.
Now, she just had to think of a way to make it up to the tall candidate. Otherwise she'd feel bad for the rest of her life, for sure. "And after you get yerself fixed up, we're gonna go for that bite to eat. Or wine. Wine sounds good right now.." Now Tasryn was just mumbling to herself. She really felt like a cup or two of wine, what with all the drama she'd suddenly been thrust into. It didn't hit her until she was almost at the spot they'd been confronted with Baston that she actually had no idea where the Healers were located.
She had yet to hurt herself to the point of having to go. Which was a pretty impressive feat for herself. "Errmm...you know where the healers are, right? I'm afraid I still haven't actually been over there yet." Eyes turned back to gaze at her companion, loosening her grip just slightly.

The frigid chill that coursed up and down the spike of the looming brunette caused the girl to slink inward defensively, tucking her pointed chin against her chest Quindrife could only find herself nodding mutely to the older candidate’s stern sounding voice. The only thought that raced through her mind was how warm Tasryn’s skin felt against that of her own, fluttering of tiny heated wings beat in the pit of the lean figured tomboy’s stomach causing her to stiffen and drag her feet begrudgingly down the hall way.
“I don’t wanna go to the shardin’ healers---” bitterly resisted Quindrife in a deepened gruff tone that was sulky yet held hints of mature solemnity to it as she spoke. Glancing up with hooded eyes the tomboy snubbed her nose with irritation then grunted towards the girl that still held steadfast to her wrist. “the journeywoman healer hates me! Watch we will go there and she will just scowl at me and tell me to suck it up then she will get this vein on her neck and put her hands on her hips. Then she will either pluck me by my ear and haul me to the Candidatemaster or she will just flick whatever part of me is hurt and give me some dressing and tell me to get out of her sight.” Loudly fumed the brunette while chewing on her bottom lip absentmindedly. “And before you get all accusing on me, I am not whining and I am not tryin’ to worm outta it. I’ll go but if that old hag gives me guff about mah’ knucks I will thud you so hard on yer ear it will look like a choice piece of caprine cud.”
The empty threat hung in the air between the two candidates heavily weighing the tension between them, especially with the overly-protective flit ready to maul the lean figured teen if she so much as looked at his bonded one wrong. Rolling her sculpted and defined shoulders Quindrife popped her neck then cleared her throat.
“Wine does sound good---” wholeheartedly agreeing with the older girl the tomboy offered a thin smile that was kissed with embarrassment, fidgeting from side to side Quindrife nibbled at her bottom lip with worry when Tasryn seemed to pause in the middle of the hallway for no apparent reason. Thumbing her nose as the amber eyed girl stammered out her reason for stopping Quindrife laughed sweetly, the musical infectious sound bubbled out of her between her pouty lips before she even had the chance to resist the urge. “Ha, yeah I know where it is. C’mon I will lead you there. But cha gotta hold my hand if the nasty old healer is mean to me.” Sappily commented the awkward brunette in her flirtatious instinctive manner, linking a strong arm around Tasyrn’s waist Quindrife politely guided the older candidate down the halls of the Weyr making sure to walk at a leisurely pace so that the girl could take in the directions fully.
Swallowing the sour lump at the back of her throat the powerfully built brunette halted once they both stood just outside of the healers ward. “I don’t wanna go in---please don’t make me---I know that old bitc---”
“What was that, Quindrife,” a stern voice snapped from the archway of a covered door, at the sound of the less than friendly journeywoman the lanky tomboy jumped visibly and grew a sickly pallor. “let me guess, you got into a scuffle again? Well let me see what the matter is,” Sighing deeply Quindrife stuck her hands out in front of herself, angrily gripping the damaged limbs the healer woman prodded and gave the teen a haphazard examination, gritting and gnashing her teeth loudly Quindrife whimpered in the back of her throat as a thumb rolled the torn flesh along the bruised bone. “Ack, such a dim glow you are! Go wash your hands you brutish heathen then get a roll of dressing. I will make sure to mention this to the Candidatemaster. After all Baston already made sure to tell me the full truth when he came here to have a look at that nose of his. How can you go around and pick figures with such sweet innocent boys, you should be ashamed of yourself! No go on, make yourself scarce.” Snapping on her heels the woman pushed past the near six-foot tall teen without so much as giving Tasryn the once over, apparently Quindrife spoke the truth when she warned her companion about the lack of respect she would get from hanging around her. Ambling out of sight the journeywoman healer left the two girls standing unattended.
“Told ya she hated me.”

Tidus hissed at Quindrife. Whatever she had just said, well he really didn't know what she said, but whatever it was he did not like it. Eyes began whirling faster before fingers lightly touched at his head. He gave a bit of a snort and curled himself around Tasryn's neck. His really should just let him show that giant who's boss.
"I wonder if he'll grow outta this protectiveness when he finishes growing." She mused, a bit amused at the little one's actions. However, it was Quindrife's laughter that got a big grin out of her. So she thought it funny, hm? Well, she'd take that laughter any day. "Hold your hand, huh? Well, I suppose if I must. Try not to squeeze it too hard though." Amusement was written all over her face as she allowed the other to place her arm around her. As she was being led the girl made mental notes of what directions they went, she'd have to make a map whenever she had the time. For now the information was pushed to the back of her mind and placed in what she referred to as storage space.
Her smile quickly faded however, as soon as she noticed the taller girl's face change when they arrived at the healers. Did she really not like the healer that much? Eyes blinked in confusion as she listened to Quindrife begin asking that Tas didn't make her go in. A voice called out before Tasryn could even make a sound, causing the girl to turn her head to the door and miss the entire change of the tall girl. Now, Tasryn had never been the type of person to get angry often. And she made sure to always respect her elders at all times, especially the healers. But..but this woman! She actually thought Baston, that vile boy, would come in and tell the truth about anything?
Sweet? Innocent? Her hands curled into fists and she tried to hold back a growl of frustration. She had to be kidding! The blue draped over her neck hissed once more, catching his' thoughts and pushed himself up while the girl glared at the healer. "Is she joking? Baston of all people innocent?" Snorting, the girl stomped around, until she found a roll of dressing before turning back to Quindrife. "That's just..just...Agh!" She gave up. What was wrong with people in this Weyr? Grumbling to herself, she walked back to the brunette and grasped her wrist once more. "Come on, since the lovely healer can't seem to find time to do her job, I'll do it for her."
Tasryn tugged the younger woman after her so she could wash the wounds. "I'm not a healer tho', so I'll be extra careful to be gentle." She offered up to Quindrife, amber glancing around once as if looking around for something. "We should also put some numbweed on it..I heard that whimper when she was touching your hands. I'd rather you not hurt too much.." The fact that the woman hadn't even looked at her didn't matter to the short young woman. She didn't see it as a lack of respect, in fact, she was much angrier about the fact that she treated Quindrife like rubbish. And put Baston on such a high pedestal. It was strange! What would that woman have done if Tasryn had come in complaining about Baston doing something to her?
Shaking such thoughts from her head, the girl looked up at Quindrife and gave her a small smile. "You're okay with me taking care of this, right? It'll be easier so you won't accidentally hurt yourself anymore." And maybe it would ease some of her frustration at the strange ways of this new place.

Quindrife simply seemed emotionally lacking after the ordeal with the journeywoman, her face was still ashen and somber as she merely held up her hands for the older girl to pamper. “She is very much so a biased lady. I got on her bad side around a full turn ago and she refuses to see me as anything but a total heel. ‘Sides I think she has some relation to Baston, she has always liked him over all the other Weyrbrats. Pff, I probably will miss standing again this turn thanks to her,” once again the awkwardly built tomboy’s tone was natural and feminine, it was completely apparent that the little run in with the female healer caused all of her bravado and confidence to fade into nonexistence. In honestly the girl just looked plain ill.
Tilting her head to the side Quindrife smirked with a strained muster, the corners of her mouth clearly trembling with the effort to keep the expression pleasant toward Tasryn. “It’s okay if ya ain’t a healer, it doesn’t take a lot of smarts to wrap hands. Shells, even I can use bandage correctly, for the most part.” the listless tone that she used to speak didn’t even seem to reach a few inches from her lips yet in the hush of the medical bay her words carried well even if they were shallow and barely above a whisper. Bringing cold gray eyes upward towards to meet that of a softer amber stare Quindrife frowned sternly at the smaller candidate in complete seriousness.
“I don’t want numbweed please,” coolly stated the taller of the two. “not with thread falling, there are others that need it more than I do,” a sense of maturity radiated from Quindrife as she spoke candidly to the older girl. The mirthful happy-go-lucky demeanor that she normally carried lay in shambles, revealing her inner raw workings almost intimately to her new found friend. Truly she didn’t care anymore what anyone thought of her, she always tried so hard to make her peers feel comfortable around her that she hid her true self under so many masks that at times she couldn’t keep them all straight. Today was the day that they all just fell, leaving in their place a very insecure little girl that just wanted to prove her self-worth to the world. “I wouldn’t have whimpered if she hadn’t used her nails to fiddle with the sore bits of skin. She really doesn’t like me, ya know. But in honesty she has her right to feel that way. I was the one that kissed her after all, I had a touch too much wine during a Gather, I ended up getting into a huge scrap with four guys about a game of dice. I had to be carried here by Baston and a few other boys after the fight. I was all over her, kissing her and telling her how pretty she was, Baston was the one that pulled me off of her and sat on me until I sobered up enough to realize what I was doing. If it wasn’t for him---if it wasn’t for him I could have possibly gotten thrown out of the Weyr,” a small sniffle escaped from the brunette’s mouth but the tomboy cleared her throat some to silence the noise. “I have missed the last three Hatchings, there are only a few things that I want in life Tasryn. I want to be loved for who I am regardless of how ugly I am on the outside and I want to be a rider--- I want to show everyone what I really can do--- I know I am better than how everyone sees me, I know I am a good person but no one gives me a chance to just be myself. I have missed the last three Hatching Tas, what if---what if mine was in one of those clutches? What if he went between because I am such a failure, what if mine died because I couldn’t just behave? If I age out I don’t have anything to fall back on and I would have the uncertainly of if I caused a life to be lost because I was so concerned about how people view me. I act tough but I’m not, right now my hands hurt so bad I want to cry, but I won’t because that would make me a weak person. I’m queer, oh shells am I queer. No one in the Weyr even cares about that sort of thing and yet I hide it because I am scared of rejection and of what my Ma and Da will think of me. And all for what? Just so I can seem strong, well what good is that doing me if I can‘t Stand on the sands and prove that to a dragon. What if the one I was supposed to Impress has already went between----I will never be complete---I will never be happy---- for the rest of my life I will harbor the fact that I am a murderer and a coward. If I don‘t Impress I might as well die during thread fall with a flamer in my hands, at least then I will have done some good.”
With that Quindrife grew silent, absentmindedly she splashed her hands around in the water basin as if she were attempting to clean them yet the movements were withdrawn and seemingly lifeless. Popping her muscular shoulder the brunette exhaled noisily through her gritted teeth then just hunched over stooping nearly a foot with the action. Lifting up her mangled hands the young woman peered down into Tasryn’s amber colored hues once again before submissively dropping her vision to the floor like a beaten canine that knew better than to make eye contact. “I don’t mind if you want to treat my wounds as long as you promise not to repeat anything that I just told you. Not one word.” Slipping her hands back into the basin the younger woman simply turned her head to the side obscuring her face from Tasryn’s sight.

Throughout Quindrife's entire speech, Tasryn merely glanced from the girl's face before looking back to her hands. Just listen, that was all she could do for now, it seemed as if the larger girl needed to get this off her chest. As soon as her hands left the water, the short girl grabbed hold of one and began to dry the wounds off as gently as possible. "Quindrife...I doubt that your dragon has been in any of those clutches. Because the dragon that would be yours would not stop until it found you, it would search the entire Weyr before it would give up." Her voice was quiet, most of her attention focused on the task she'd set for herself. Eyes lifted up to try and meet the other's grey orbs before moving to her other hand.
As soon as she finished drying both hands, she pulled the bandages up and began to very carefully wrap them around the girl's left knuckles. "Crying doesn't make you weak. Not to me, at least. Sometimes your body just needs to let it all out in one way or another. If you continue to hold it in...it'll all turn out bad." A small frown pulled Tasryn's lips down as she tilted her head to look at Quindrife once more. "I would never repeat something like this to anyone." The girl seemed to debate with herself about something before she leaned over to the lanky girl and quickly brushed her lips against Quindrife's forehead. "One day you will show this whole place what you can do. And I don't care about who you like, so you won't ever need to feel rejection from me. You're my friend, and you're stuck with me."
A smile smile managed to make it's way to her face before she refocused on wrapping the other hand. For some reason, she felt much better about choosing this girl to help with glow duty. If she hadn't..she might never had found out the real Quin. As horrible as it sounded, the brunette was somewhat glad things had turned out like this. Someone who sounds just like me at times...
Finishing the binding, she moved away to replace the bandages so that the so called healer wouldn't have a fit about anything being misplaced. Then turning back, she cleared her throat and tilted her head. "...Are we still going to go get something to eat?"
[[OOC:: I'm sorry! D: I haven't played Tasryn in a while really.]]
