Sai only continued smiling warmly as she looked to the ground. He found it quite cute that she acted as though she had done something wrong, when she had done nothing of the sort. "It's a mark that is said to appear on those who posses the qualities to lead. Or at least that's the story told in the deserts I was born in." He said openly. He offered another bright, closed eyed smile as she narrowed the gap to just a few feet.

Since Sai had seemed so open, Tashi looked at his mark again. She thought about it for a minute and thought hard about what to say. "Do you believe it the story?" She asked him. He said it was just a story and never said if he had believed it or not. Tashi found it quite odd that a mark that was supposed to appear on those who posses the qualities to lead was on one that was by himself.

Sai was silent for a moment, as he thought of a good way to word his reply to the curious youngster's question. His silence however wasn't an awkward bit, but more of a mellow, contemplative quiet. "I would say I believe the old tale. Though at times I have wondered why I possess it." His voice was soft and remained open. He had nothing to hide, but his voice did carry a slightly more somber note. He looked into Tashi's deep purple eyes with his own, bright hazel ones and smiled warmly. He had to laugh to himself as he realized that, aside from Live, his chosen, he had never told anyone the meaning of the symbol and his feelings on the matter. Not that it bothered him, rather the opposite. It was actually nice to talk with others, as he had once done. He hadn't had much opportunity to do so since he had arrived here on the floating Isle.

"Are you afraid to lead others?" Tashi asked him. She liked Sai, he sounded like such a good guy. His laugh was so warm and inviting, and his hazel eyes so kind. Granted, he seemed different than other adults, but maybe having his strange mark automatically makes him different. She wondered if it made others not like him. Maybe the old legend has its downside as well, or maybe conditions to it. Then she realized how rude she was being, Tashi gasped and said, "Oh! I don't mean to be playing twenty-one questions...I'm sorry. I'm normally not like this, I promise."

Sai's eyes sparkled and he laughed out right. A clear, happy sound that rang through the air like sweet music. "Oh, don't worry about it Tashi." He said dismissively. "I rather like twenty-one questions." He said with an exuberant grin. "Now to answer that question of yours." He continued on naturally. "It is not the leading that is scary, it's the loosing." He said, his voice soft. For some it may have seemed that he was heading in a direction that was not appropriate for children of Tashi's age. However, Sai didn't see the world as most do.

Tashi really liked the sound of Sai's laugh. He seemed so carefree. But the carefree mood was easily changed to a somber one. So Sai had lost someone but Tashi knew when not to pry. It seems like they had stuff in common. Tashi didn't really know what to say so she let the silence continue that left them to their own thoughts. Finally, Tashi broke the silence. "Loosing is part of life though..." She said sadly.

Sai briefly relived some happy memories of the past, smiling softly in the silence. Then Tashi spoke and Sai could not help but smile, a sad, yet proud smile. It seemed this little girl was much more mature than her size suggested. "I see you are quite the little philosopher." His voice bright and playful, banishing the somber mood instantly. Sai wasn't haunted by thoughts of the past, but rather embraced them and looked on the brighter side of things. Even when it is painful to do so. "But to have lost means there was love. And love is the greatest cure." He said, taking on a funny voice to sound as though he was some wise old man. Then he beamed, eyes sparkling brightly and he laughed lightly.

Tashi laughed at Sai's old man voice. "One has quite a bit of time to think when they're all alone..." She paused. "There doesn't have to be love if you've lost something. You can't love something you never knew." She said with confidence. "But...there's always a reason why the things in your past aren't in your present or future." Tashi said with a slight smile.

Sai gave a nod of understanding. He too had spent his fair share of time alone over the years. With nothing to do but ponder about all things. He listened respectfully to Tashi as she spoke of love, loss and things not know. He gave an encouraging smile. She sounded even more philosophical than she had the first time. "Ah, but consider that one can not lose what they never truly possessed. One can't feel as though something was lost if they didn't care about it in the first place." His voice was calm and confident, challenging her. He wanted to see how firm her thoughts on the matter were and how well she could debate her point. He hadn't expected to find such an philosophical mind in such a young child. Though it was definitely a pleasant surprise to be able to converse so deeply with a young one. It gave him an even brighter hope for the future.

Tashi thaought for a moment. She laid her head down in the soft grass and thought about what he had said. "Just because you never knew them doesn't mean you never possessed them..." She said suddenly before snapping her mouth closed. "What I mean is...." Ugh, I have to think of a good cover now, she thought. "Sometimes you don't know what you have until its gone. Right?" she asked him. Surely he would know, he was so wise. Finally, when she had thought about it so hard her head started to hurt, she concluded, "I think I have more growing up to do." Tashi was wise for her age, but she didn't have a lot of experiences in her life to have learned things from. "Maybe I'll be as wise and smart as you one day Sai." She said with a smile

Sai's eyes softened, he seemed to get more than just the words Tashi was saying. He smiled and nodded. "You make a good point. Many have things they don't even realized they have." He paused, looking warmly down at Tashi. "It is also true that one, at times, doesn't know what they have until it is gone. However, if one looses something they didn't know they had and feels as though something is lost. Have they not in turn loved, or cared, about the thing that was lost?" His voice was calm, assured, but also kind and intelligent. He chuckled good naturedly as she maturely admitted that she still had some growing up to do. His chuckle turned to a bright laugh as she went on to say that she may one day be as smart and wise as him. He leaned his head down and genly, lovingly, nosed her blue neck. "I'm sure you will surpass me." He said humbly, though his words where filled with encouragement.

"I guess you're right. But it's only after they've lost it that they realize that they loved it." Tashi replied. Any time Sai laughed or smiled, Tashi was happy that she had made someone else happy. Especially when he nudged her little neck with his nose so lovingly, she knew she had a friend. "I don't think I will surpass you..." She said quietly, "Though younger generations are bound to discover new things and learn more in their lifetime, right?" Tashi still felt bad for asking so many questions.

Sai nodded and turned his eyes skyward for a moment. "It is truly sad that so many have to lose what they love to learn that they loved it." Sai said, the true sorrow he felt for those who had to go through such things was clear in his voice. Though it wasn't a depressing feeling. Returning his Hazel eyes to Tashi he smiled warmly at her quiet words. "Correct, little Tashi. You have your whole life before you to learn and discover new things. And that is why you will definitely surpass me." He said brightly, grinning.

Tashi smiled, her eyes shinning. She laid her head back down on the grass for a moment, letting the silence spread through the clearing. There was always times when it was better to just sit and listen. Taoshira heard bugs chirping and birds singing. All these sounds relaxed her even more. Then, out of nowhere, Tashi said, "I think the legend is true Sai." She quickly looked away after saying this.

Sai gave her an exuberant closed eyed smile in return. Tashi had a wonderful, pure heart, he could easily see just by looking into her eyes. As she lay her head in the grass Sai looked skyward. His hazel eyes watched the clouds, completely at peace he smiled softly. How he wished that everyone could appreciate the calming wonders of nature. He looked down at Tashi's beautiful blue coat, his kind smile growing. And that of others. He thought to himself. Nothing could ever beat the miraculous power to heal wounds that lay much deeper than the flesh. Tashi's bright voice called him back form his own thoughts and he blinked down at her, a rather comical look of surprise on his face. Then it slowly melted into one of his happy, closed eyed smiles. "You think so, huh? Then I guess it must be." He said with a light, ringing laugh.
