That seemed to please the dark figure as it watched the kelpie swallow the concoction, down to the last drop. "It is rude to ask a Demon their name," He chuckled, "But you may call me Dr. Fell, as many people do." That done, his attention turned back to his work, and then up to the clock with odd hands hanging from the wall, one talon resting on the countertop. "Oh, my, would you look at the time, we have been at this all night, haven't we? Well, almost finished. Have a seat, if you boys like! I am sure you had a long journey to come here, unannounced." He seemed to relax a bit after watching the clock a few moments, perhaps waiting for them to digest... whatever it was he had given them. "Frederik, have them begin breakfast for three, would you? There's a good lad." The black talon-like digits slowly curled back like receding shadow as pale, delicate- but more human- hands removed the mask with a relieved sigh. Safe to breath the air again. "And you, are the demon responsible for this?" He had a kind face, expression gentle and unaccusing as it settled on Barth, although there was something in his eyes that watched like the circling Carry On littering his property. Feathers had already receded further, reveling a pale labcoat. In his hand was Christof's right hand, still bearing the black mark of the Sloth Demon.

"Yes, that's mine," Barth said, unable to help a yawn, and most certainly taking a seat, although it occurred to him that this was a very good guess, "He's err- not in any trouble over it, is he? It's just a minor one. Helping me with some things, and so forth."

He assumed Christof was alright. He was detachable by nature, and the Mark didn't hold any sway over things permanently dead.

Calder had frowned at being scolded for asking his name. "Then how am I supposed to figure out what to call you?" He pointed out, unless Dr. Fell wanted him to invent names for demons. That could end terribly as he was far too creative and not very logical in his name choices. Still, at least he got a name and found a seat next to Barth before he bolted right up again.

"That's Christof's arm!" He pointed, looking to Barth and back at Dr. Fell. "What happened?! Is he okay?! Why doesn't he have his arm?!" He moved closer to the demon, but not TOO close, looking at the marked arm and back up to Dr. Fell. What happened to his friend??!! Seeing as he couldn't go more dead, he still worried for him. Did Dr. Fell run out of thread or did he just take his arm for sport? Did he loose the rest of Christof's parts? Did wild werewolves tear him to pieces and run off to gnaw on him for a while??!

Ears back and eyes wide, Calder looked at the arm. He wanted to hold it, but most importantly, he wanted to know what was going on!

The half-finished monstrosity on the table behind him gurgled and Dr. Fell gave a gentle smile, reaching to pat the wheezing creature on the head, "He is almost complete again. We have been working on his Birthday Upgrades for days," Dr. Fell cooed, handing the severed appendage over to Barth before lifting a fresh one and putting it in place. No sooner had he begun to stitch the new, larger hand in place, the mark on the younger one in the Sloth's grip began to fade. "You have found my Igor useful, then? This is not the first time you have marked him."

"That's, err- hi christof," Barth said awkwardly, slumping in his seat. He felt dangerously close to sleep. This was important. He forced himself to focus, and found himself focusing on Christof's human hand. His mark was slowly disappearing, and his grip tightened very slightly.

Instinctively, he knew that it was only relocating, but he peered around Dr. Fell at the mess on the slab any way.

"Very useful, yes," he repeated quietly.

Calder turned his head to the lump on the table and stepped back away from the demon before rushing over to the cold table that his friend laid in pieces upon. "Christof!" He knew he shouldn't be this upset. Christof lost limbs and broke into pieces plenty of times during his year at Amityville, but seeing him disasseembled on a table like this and having heard his groans coming into this room only made him worried. Maybe it was because he wasn't undead and always felt that looking any limb was very painful. It always troubled him, but Dr. Fell had mentioned these were Birthday upgrades.

So was this normal? He guessed.........Igor's didn't grow up, did they? He had just assumed that if you had all the parts, that they would grow with you. Maybe not.

Frowning, he still looked at his friend and ignored the rest. "Are you okay, Christof?" It seemed like a terrible time to wish him a Happy Birthday. He would have held his hand if it wasn't being attached on, and instead he watched Christof, clutching the side of the table and looking back at the doctor. "Is he okay? It looks painful."

"A bit of discomfort is normal, I have found. But it will pass as the new parts are... integrated," Dr. Fell assured the Kelpie, and despite his neat, straight, even stitches he glanced over his shoulder periodically to guage Barth's expression. Finally, he batted Calder away, straightening to give them both a rather TOO enthusiastic smile, "Breakfast should be ready soon, why don't you follow Frederik to your bedrooms? Make yourselves comfortable while we finish up."

On the slab, Christof, or at least what remained of him, gave a desperate whine, the hand in Barth's grip twitching urgently before the mark was completely gone, the fingers going limp.

When the last of whatever Fear bound Christof's parts together left the hand (and Barth's mark with it) he set it gently aside. He attempted to be impassive, but was mostly tired, and when he looked at Christof it was with partial concern and partial curiosity.

Up sounded very suspiciously like stairs, and Barth could do without breakfast. Bed, however...

"Thank you for the hospitality," Barth said with another yawn, beginning the slow process of getting out of his chair. "We'll err, we'll see you shortly, Christof," ...and hopefully when he was in a better state to manage conversation. First impressions. As a Sloth demon, it wasn't like he was being held to high standards on the staying awake to manage witty banter front. But he wanted to be polite, especially to Christof's Master Creator. He'd figure out he rest later.

Calder's ears were still down, expressing far more worry and concern than the two demons present, and looking at Christof's features and wishing they could talk. He wanted to hear it from the Igor, but that was impossible with him in such a state and his hands not even put together to sign. Before Calder could reach out and squeeze whatever piece of anatomy he could touch to show Christof that he hoped he was okay, Dr. Fell shooed him off and back to his chair. Frowning, Calder slowly moved next to Barth who either was too tired to be upset or didn't think it was a big deal.

It's just a bit of discomfort. Christof gets torn to pieces a lot. It's probably normal for him. Nothing to get bothered about. It's his birthday too. I should have brought something.

He tried to distract himself with more upbeat thoughts, but it was a failed attempt from the beginning.

Before anything more could be questioned, they were directed to Frederik (aka Ally), who waited for them to show them their rooms. Rising up and offering help for Barth, he nodded politely once. Dr. Fell was still Christof's elder, and he was taking care of his friend. In some way, he was his father, and in that regard he had to be aware of that and polite....as best he could.

"Thank you..." Calder mumbled, before glancing back to the Igor on the table. He wished he could say more, but decided to keep his mouth shut. He'd see him again. No need to get bothered. He guessed he still wasn't used to the undead.

With a curt nod, Calder went with Barth and followed Frederik out of the room.

Frederik was waiting for them up at the top of the stairs, his gaze dead but compliant as he wobbled patiently as Calder pushed the drooping Sloth his way before turning to slowly make his way back through the "Decontamination Chamber" towards the outer hallway once more.

Echoing up behind them, a flash of light, an electric fizzle, and the smell of burning flesh followed by fresh Christof wails could be heard but hopefully it wasn't anything the Igor couldn't or hadn't handled before. Hopefully.

Barth edged his way through the Decontamination Chamber, glad there was no Re-Decontamination. He distanced himself from Christof's screams.

"Calder," he said evenly, pushing past the grogginess, "He said the visit was unannounced. Is that right?"
PostPosted: Tue Jul 12, 2011 9:51 pm

Calder gripped his jacket, twisting it tightly at the hem as he looked back with deep concern. If this was an Igor's Birthday, it sounded horrible, and he hoped that Christof would at least get a special treat after. If Calder knew he'd be showing up during his friend's birthday, he would have brought some cupcakes. Then again, they probably would have been soggy through all the traveling. He could have saved him a few things in the jars and tins, but he and Barth had eaten a lot of it.

Frowning, he turned to look at Barth. "Yeah....why?"

Barth just sighed. "It's alright. I wouldn't worry." He was getting his fill of surprise summer visits to other demons. Still, Christof's Master Creator was a man of Science, so maybe they could...find some mutual ground.

At least until he determined what had Dr. Fell's keen attention, and if it was only possessiveness. He added, as an aside,

"...You know, I have only been awake on one other morning to my immediate recollection."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 12, 2011 10:37 pm

Calder rose an eyebrow at the sigh. What was wrong with coming unannounced? His kind never bothered. Most didn't send letters because very few kelpies could read and it took too long to even get a letter. In the end, it was quicker just to show up, and everyone had been rather hospitable when it happened. Dr. Fell didn't seem too happy about it, but they were heading off to their own rooms and even set up for breakfast. He couldn't be too upset over it.

Shrugging it off, he continued to follow Fredrick, looking around and taking in the neat pictures, the tidy carpet, and wide hallways that went off in many directions. Wow. This place sure was big and sturdy! Not a single gaping hole in the wall or a tree shooting up from the floor. There was no water damage or hint of moss to be seen.

"Hmm. What other morning were you up?" He asked. "You should wake up more often in the morning. It's nice. The rivers are nice and cold then."

He frowned once more. "Hey Barth. You think Christof is okay down there? He seemed..... to be hurtin a lot."

"The morning of the boat ride," Barth said, "to the island."

He hesitated at the last statement.

The long answer, which would get Calder upset, was that Christof's Master Creator was entitled to do with him as he liked, even if that something happened to be excruciating (and probably unnecessary) pain. What he said was,

"Just growing pains. He'll be alright."
