Gakre
Whether or not the reality is defined or altered by our perception may currently be unknown.

But your perception defines your truth. User Image

^very true.

Money is the most basic shared delusion. Shared value.

Why not go burn yours or give it to someone willing to believe that shared perceptions make for a shared reality?
Money isn't a delusion, it's a note claiming that some of the gold value in America's vaults belongs to you, and you are capable of trading it. 'Tis done as such due to the fact that most people wouldn't want to carry around massive amounts of the heavy stuff to trade with.
Which is possible only because people love the trading of the shiny things for some reason.

The gold standard ended over a century ago.

Shared value is not possible.

Shared symbols are quite literally shared delusions.

How can you counter that if you can't use words, actions or other symbols I have to consent to agree with.

Your words irk me for some reason.

I'm not quite sure why.
Maybe it's because you're always so hostile and condescending whenever you open your mouth.
Maybe it's because you feel the need to turn every single discussion you're a part of into a heated argument.
Maybe it's because being hostile and argumentative is completely unnecessary, especially when you're the instigator.

Are we on the gold standard, or even the silver standard any more?

Is the value of anything, words, hostility, penmanship, gold, anything more than an agreement to share the same values?

You want to defend your friend from the big bad Bogart-man. That's understandable.

Your friend mindlessly attacked reality...poorly.

Shouldn't polite sisters correct each other?

They irk me as well.
But for different reasons.
They'd require far more time than I'm willing to put in to argue against and the gain would be insignificant.

I hate pomposity which isn't entertaining enough to be worth the time. And I swear I had no idea pomposity was a word before I wrote it.

So you'd rather share the perceived value and perceived commendatory than comment on the perceived value of gold or the nature of the money you so recently, and falsely perceived to have the value of gold?

Why speak of value or perceptions at all then?

Because I recall you once posting a link about it, which has caused minor cases of obsession.

I... don't have the resources to play it yet would've loved tagging along with you. Also, I've been called to play Dragon's Nest but still... without a computer to do so. ='(

I fail to see the relevance in implying that someone is an idiot because we aren't on the gold standard anymore.
Now, if the topic of the conversation had to do with the gold standard or something similar, it would be understandable. But it doesn't. It has to do with perception and reality.
Therefore, such a statement is, well, pointless.

Honney Boy
You want to defend your friend from the big bad Bogart-man. That's understandable.

Uh, no? I want to point out your apparent desire to initiate petty, facepalm-inducing arguments in discussions that shouldn't become heated debates.
It's fine to state your opinion, but you can leave the hostility and "you're-an-idiot-for-not-thinking-the-way-I-do" attitude at home.

I realize that I'm being redundant, but no matter how many different ways I try to rephrase it, you still seem to think that your behavior is justified.

Just wanted to comment after listening to people babble about shared delusions being real.

Huh.

This topic starts out on a rather hostile and pompous tone
Divine_Malevolence
I don't care if you think I exist, so long as I can still cut you.
In fact, I'd rather you not believe in me. Because then it'll be easier to do so.

more hostile and pompous...

Honney Boy began by challenging the idea and you see, he actually believes that people know these things and that 'common sense' is common.
He is socially maladjusted, but (unlike me) one of the nicest, kindest people ever. He is also inclined to believe people are relatively competent and aware.
Now gaiaonline has the age requirement of 13 -although realistically we can figure the age range goes from 10 and up- but to be here you are suppose to have the knowledge, experience, intelligence and capacity of reason of a 13 year old child.

They are taught about the gold standard in school, how it was ended and so forth. We have a 13 year old. He also was 13 at some point and probably his knowledge when he was 13 factors in.

The know universe is made up of vibrations. Nothing is solid. Our perceptions define our reality. - Really basic kids stuff

Money, psychosomatic illnesses and injury, mob mentalities, the entire internet and the very concept relative value- perceptions dictating relative reality

Is it so terrible that Honney Boy was trying to actually discuss the topic and was treating Divine like he expected him to be of reasonable intelligence?

Incidentally, we have had no given value of real for this proclamation topic discussion

If you're claiming that's hostility, we must've never met. Whilst I will never claim to not be arrogant.
However, hostility wasn't my point and pomposity was only a problem if it was boring. Thus I will not claim hypocrisy for I always find my own ego to at least cause enough problems to be amusing.
And such things, they aren't really perceptions. Money exists, it's value was given to it because humanity needed a tool to barter with, and it's in no way a delusion. I'd say it's more like an invention. Same with words. There was a distinctive lack of very useful and necessary communication, and since necessity is the mother of invention, we decided to blur sounds together until we found something we could agree meant something between us.
Same thing with rules, and pretty much everything that humanity governs itself by. What the hell is a government? What the hell is war?

And onto a different point.
If four people were in a room, simultaneously imagining that there was a support pillar in the center when there wasn't one, is there a support pillar?
Or a more realistic one. If four people are crawling through the desert and see a mirage, do they not die of thirst?
Perception is caused by reality of either experience or matter. Reality is not inversely effected by the perception of a moron who's seeing things. I'm entirely too enthralled with the aspect of fiction to write off that this could be some giant kid's book where all reality is 'is design, but that's another amusing story.
