Xihuitl's eyes shifted over the new greetings that passed bettween the first generation of the pack and the newest. A tale of the alpha-god? Hmmm he had not thought of that story in a long time.
"Very well" He said and pushed the hood off off his head and thought for a moment on how to begin. "Our alpha, Danel, was great in his power and strength. He brought all of us together, pulling us from our mundan homes to something greater. Something that the world we know would remember." He paused and looked to everyone that had gathered.
"We all came for a purpose, all of us brought into this world to serve him. He had strength and drive above us all. A vision, a mission to live amongst the shadows and thrive with our own kind, males forming a true bond and bringing our talents. Danel lead us with great strength, and we were feared. Mothers locked away their pups, fathers tried their best but we tore them down. Danel leading the way and always fighting with us. Always by our side, he thought of us as his brothers and would lay down his life for anyone us." Xihuitl took a breath and looked to the sky. "He was the best of us, and even in our dire time he took the the lead comming to lead us out of the Shadows. That was the time whne he truel became our God." He said and smiled.
"A rouge group rose up aainst us, threating our way of life. We wanted nothing from them, I can remember Firdaws leading us dring the cool night to take them down piece by piece. But they were expecting us, and we were outnumbered. They killed a few of our brothers, but we kept fighting, knowing that we would never back down. It was almost a lost fight, until Danel came and drove them away, he killed ten of them easily. Yet showed compassion and strength to those who backed away." Xihuitl paused for a moment to hear reactions. Danel was mostly thought of as a ruthless killer, but he cared for them all like family. And that came above everything.

Well, now, this was very odd. Soren wasn’t quite sure what good he could do the older wolf, much less even fathom why a switch in seating arrangements would be necessary, but something in his voice… it was compelling. He didn’t dance around the subject with fancy words, or try to lure the little pup with concepts far too big for one little mind; he simply told him to come, and that was that. Odd, and yet, so very intriguing.
He didn’t give it much thought. Climbing to his paws and shuffling his way through the gathering, Soren came to sit respectably close to the great blue wolf. If he was told to listen, he would; he looked to the wolf to see if there would be any more instruction, then settled in a bit more comfortably, wondering if perhaps any of the storyteller’s words would really sink in. He’d been at the mercy of long and drawn-out yarns that had gotten hopelessly tangled in whatever remained of his mind, much too strange and new for him to hold in place and really, truly understand. Would a starry-pelted story stay in place long enough for him to appreciate?
Soren wouldn’t be disappointed.
While he couldn’t claim to understand the concept of a ‘god,’ Soren was well-acquainted with the warrior ideal. Rorret had, in certain ways, explained it; and yet, he had been holding back. This was the first that Soren heard of a traitor group, or a wolf mighty enough to slay ten on his own, but then Soren had never asked and there had never been an occasion when such things were to rise up. Some sort of sense could be made of his situation, now, and while he was extremely callous toward any sort of ‘family,’ he supposed it made enough sense. A group of wolves living together. Family. Though he had always figured the term was a pack, he supposed calling it a family would do just as well. A family led by a god…
Whatever a god was, he supposed it best to keep his head low if it ever were to appear. Soren was in no way clever enough or strong enough to match ten wolves, and he would hardly stand a chance... though it didn't seem like the Danel wolf was anywhere nearby, not by the voice of past-tense the storyteller used. Ah, well. Perhaps he was somewhere out in the shadows.

"I remember that," Firdaws murmured, appreciatively. He had never known how that crowd had gotten the drop on them, but he had never fully forgiven himself for leading them into a trap, even if he couldn't possibly know better. Danel had been like a demon.
He had to smile, though, at Xihuitl's last sentence. Compassion? Compassion by death, anyway. If not by his own paw, than by Occidio and Rummy...the weapon and the middle-manager of the pack. No wolf could see the mark of the shadows and survive...not for long.

Llikmeht sat upon his paws as he listened...the God Alpha is all he could wrap his mind around. It sounded something like his mother. Someone would look out for him...be there perhaps when things went astray.
He pawed at Rorret's tail and smiled as a pup doese, as Rorret laughed with his friend. He liked being in their company. Even though he didn't know there past, and what they had done.
He liked the new wolf as well, wise was his prescense...as if he knew more than anyone else...interestinig. What was his name he heard it from Rorret...Arkadios...somehow beautiful...he enojoyed saying the name in his head.
He wasn't sure which pup he was talking to as both he and his brother were there...it seemed to be Soren. Serious...I'm serious...just quite but I'll let Sorren lead this one...besides, he and his brother had not even shed a word amoungst eachother which was making him ready to attack him at any instant. They had come from the same womb yet he would not speak to him...if he doesn't die, Alpha God help me from these feelings of tracking his scent to end his life. (hey Soren we need to start an RP don't feel like I know you just saying).
Llikmeht had never given up on the idea of a family, whatever that meaned or entailed. He still was not sure what happened to his mother or sister, but this was his family now, and he knew and understood the feeling of love, compassion, and the importance of a family. In a sense Rorret was the only father he knew. And without his mother he had to adapt to the new family that was around him. The Brotherhood. Some had cloaks, cloths something he had never seen. This was his family. This is what he had to stay true to. This was why he was here. To fulfill the expectiations they had of him, even though he didn't know what that was.
Lilkmeht listened as he told of Firdaws leading the pack against the pack tearing the ones against this pack piece by peice, he wished he could have been apart of it, trying to hide his emotions, which were actually new to him, a tear almost came, never backing down, almost losing, and then Danel...Danel the name like a light within the storm. He drove the others away...but he didn't hurt them...even though he probably could have... he just lead them away from something they didn't understand. He was looking out for his family...Family...this was something Lilkmeht wanted to be apart of...a pack...a family.

Arkadios nodded, satisfied that Soren had obeyed so easily. Perhaps he would be a good warrior, obeying his superiors and doing his duty well. He did not seem like one who was completely useless, not like the heir; not with that steady gaze, but neither did he seem to have much initiative. Well, time would tell just what would become of the pup. Hopefully, Arkadios himself could guide him in the right direction.
It did not escape his attention, however, that the other pup seemed not only interested in him, but also that he seemed to be a little hostile toward his brother. It was something to think on. For now, he would leave the other pup be and focus on the one who settled next to him. If the other pup, Llikmeht, chose to take the initiative and approach Dios, then he would see. However, he did approve of the fascination that was clear on Llikmeht's face as Xihuitl described Danel. That much was as it should be. The God-Alpha deserved such awe.
Soren, meanwhile, was listening with rapt attention. The pup seemed just as interested in the story, in his own way. Good. He would receive proper training from Dios himself, whenever the Warmaster had time, but it would be best if he were absorbing the right information from other sources, as well. The storyteller was one whom he trusted above most others to convey that information well. Pleased with Soren's focus, he returned his own attention to the story.

He nodded and smiled at Firdaws seeing his discontent. "After that fight, we mourned our brothers, Danel along with us." He said and shifted himself and shook out his fur. "We are all we are because of him, and i know that we will rise again to the great number. To be respected and feared by all who dare cross us." Xihuitl said and smiled looking to the pups.
"Danel was the first one who taught me how to shadow walk. Something that i have taught many of my younger brothers. It is almost a lost art, but Danel knew that the shadows are our homes. That they are the strength of the pack." Xihuitl looked around to his brothers, knowing many of them had never shadow walked, and who Xihu had taught had either died or lost the gift. Rorret knew and possible Firdaws, but other than that many never were taught.
"What else would you all like to know about?"

What is a shadow walk? Does it have to do with hunting? The young pup was glad he had been captured the things that he was hearing...it felt like a new world.

"It's true," Firdaws said, nodding. "Many of the newest recruits were left...to learn our ways on their own. And not very well, clearly." He laughed, a short, barking laugh. "Maybe if some of our kind were better at tending to the shadows, they wouldn't be so apt to get lost when searching for our traitor."
Although, unlike many of his Brothers, Firdaws did not believe that all of the missing pack members were dead, or even gone for good. He liked to believe that they were out there, lurking in the dark, biding their time...or simply terrorizing neighboring packs. The thought made him smile.
Even the traitor. Once a Brother, always a Brother -- that was what Firdaws believed. The lifestyle would get into your heart, corrupt it, and consume it. "In the old days, our kind tended to walk during the nights alone. These days, we're just as apt to creep out into the sunlight....though I can't say I favor it. The best shadow walkers among us, though, can become completely invisible, even in the sunlight."

Only during the nights? What did they do? Why do they walk in the sunlight now? How did they disappear? His little tail wagged, this was exciting stuff to be hearing about. Lillkmeth wanted to know how to become a shadow walker especially how to disappear he could become a great hunter. Can I learn how to disapear? When can I learn to be a shadow walker?

Xihuitl nodded to Firdaws, "Yes, some of us can still shadow walk, and even in the sunlight. Though that is more difficult, you must bend to fight much more light than than of the night moon."
Looknig to the pup and nodding, "Yes, you can ask any of your elder brothers to teach you. I can shadow walk and have taught Rorret, i used to be able to shadow walk in the day, but only when need calls." Xihuitl was a perfect shadow walker, that was why most didn't know he was watching when he attacked. "I know a few other brother can shadow walk.

Marrok had settled down once the storytelling began and it wasn't long before he was lost in his own memories, entwined in the stories being told. Their God-Alpha, his strength, his ferocity, his compassion for the Brothers...yes, he remembered it well. As well as the particular story being told regarding those damnable rogues. Yes, Marrok had been there...only as a mere background whisper in comparison to Danel's shining greatness, but an observer nonetheless. A survivor, thanks to the God-Alpha. He had followed Firdaws into the shadows that night, but Danel had led them out again.
The focus of the storytelling shifted, and the somber, reflective mood went with it. The talk of shadow walking set Marrok's tail wagging in the dust. Of course, he still shadow walked. He was a hunter. How else was he going to hunt? Well, successfully at least? And yet...how long had it been since he'd Walked with his Brothers? Solo hunting was well and good when necessary, but not really preferable. The pack, the Brothers, that's what mattered most, that's what made the hunt enjoyable beyond the mere acquisition of food. With so many young ones about now, they would be growing, needing to be taught to help with the hunting and patrolling. Perhaps...a brotherly hunt might lay in the future. What fun!
---
Fallyn's mood had initially lifted, his stub of a tail subconsciously wiggling in a passive version of a wagging motion as the praise and remembrance continued.
Their Alpha-God. He meant so much to them all, it was true, but oh, how much he had meant to the Heir. It was true, that Fallyn had never asked for the position he'd been honored with, nor had he done a very good job of filling the role satisfactorily. And yet, he'd been so grateful to their great leader for the position. Perhaps that was because it helped keep him from the others' teeth...but still.
With Danel's absence, Fallyn's existence had been greatly filled with fear. Without the Alpha-God's protection, there was little to stop the others from forcibly taking the Heir's position...or worse, for him, his life. He'd done what he could to keep from drawing attention to himself amidst the turmoil in teh pack, and perhaps he'd succeeded, for the most part. He was still alive at least. That was saying something.
And yet, as he sat here, listening to the words spun and formed within the storytelling, he felt a stirring in his chest. The Alpha-God had been an inspiration and a strength for them all to draw upon; but none more than Fallyn, in his opinion. He was strength. He was confidence. He was hope.
As the conversation moved on, Fallyn's demeanor returned to normal, his posture slouching slightly and his eyes refusing to meet any others that glanced his way. Yes, he still Shadow Walked, of course. How else had he avoided attention all this time, even from his own Brothers? Still, he feared them less than those outside the pack; there was no saying what outsiders might do to a Brother, found alone even inside their lands.
Fallyn had become a ghost amongst their own dens these past moons; of that he could possibly be proud, if he wasn't just being a coward.

Arkadios frowned beneath his mask. Had they really neglected their young so much? To the point of losing their most basic skills? It did not matter to him if the omegas were at fault or if the entire pack carried the burden. At his point, they had no room for blame. Not enough numbers to lose so many more over petty squabbling.
Well, that would have to be remedied as soon as possible. He would have words with the omegas about it, and of course, the hunters and warriors would have to make certain to train their recruits properly...after he made certain that both Firdaws' hunters and his warriors were all properly trained. It seemed he would have to speak to the huntmaster as well. Make certain his warriors and the hunters and all of his brothers were worthy of the Shadowclan.
More work to add to his schedule. Charming.

Llikmeht looked around at all the elders. The stories had him feeling more apart of the pack and eager to learn more. He looked up at them. Were the stories over? Was it time now to learn? He didn't want to seem like an idiot, but he wanted to ask if they could learn how to shadow walk now. All this talk about it made is tail wag, and he wanted ever so much to hunt more. However, he waited patiently out of respect for his elders.
