A grunt, pain exploded through his jaw and he tasted blood as he turned into it trying to minimize the damage... years of hard knock schooling.
Still he staggered, Castor was a Prince and he was only a General.
He reached up to touch the split lip and bruising that was already starting to creep across his jaw. His eyes blazed and his jaw clenched.... it was tempting, tempting to be something close to suicidal but he just took another step away. "Big of you...." He growled. "Noble even..."

Was it possible to be reduced to inarticulate screaming? Apparently it was. Lina desperately missed the staff that she had carried as Linarite and at this very moment, missed even her squeaky hammer. She could, perhaps, get between her furious husband and her former protege. She could also, perhaps, get a black eye for her ******** that.
Focusing her scouter towards Prince Castor, Lina cast her Interference, filling his head with the squealing clamor most commonly identified as a dial-up internet handshake. Without even looking at Zinkenite, her voice was dull, emotionless, and tightly controlled. "Zink, get the ******** out of here. I am not going to save your a** again. Next time he will beat you into next year and I won't be able to stop him. Get the ******** out of here."
If her Interference died and he was still here, she was done. Forever.

If there was ever uncertainty in his voice it was clearest at that moment, shock, it cracked through his words and he nearly choked on them... like a grey angel she was there, her command, it rang through him in ways he never wanted to admit.
There was more there in his words, perhaps more than she really ever wanted to admit to, ever wanted to see there, she could miss, easily but it was there... even as he staggered back a step, and vanished- away to the quiet and confusion of his own thoughts.

The flipping fly ******** all. The skull piercing noise drove Castor to his knee as he gripped his head. Was this- jesus ******** christ. It hurt. He was willing to bet if he tried he'd not even be able to hear his planet after this. He watched with one bleary eye open as Zink vanished and the noise faded into silence. Standing he felt confusion-
and then anger roared up. She let him flee. She let him run away to kill, to serve darkness another day and for what? For what? "Goddamn it Lina!" His fists curled but he couldn't hit her. That was just something he couldn't do, not even this enraged. "The ******** was that for?"

"I am going home." There was no explanation. There was nothing. There was simply closed eyes and that tight, clipped voice as she turned and sprinted off into the night. Yes, Zink would live to kill another day. But could she really have stood by and watched Castor kill him?
No. She couldn't have. The only thing to do was turn and run and hope to God that somehow she didn't make it home.
It wasn't going to be any more pleasant there. Well. At least there would be air conditioning.
