The body of the guitar slammed hard into the jaw of the man-eating plant as it got to them far faster than expected. It was kind of awkward, since the jackin' thing was a good foot and a half taller than he was. "Dude, why didn't I come here EARLIER?" he said, slamming the plant again. "Oh, wait," he said, remembering that Xiu was there.
"We should probably leave, huh?" he called over to her, waving his guitar wildly.

Xiu jumped out of the way when a tendril reached out to grab her leg, clearly terrified. However, she did managed to shoot a look at Roch that was both frightened and incredulous. "Y-you don't like it here, do yo--eep!" When another plant made it's way to her, Xiu gave it a good, hard kick, which, surprisingly, sent the creature slithering back.
It seemed that fear did wonders for the Baku's hand to hand defense skills.
"Y-yes, let's go!" She called back, grasping the long ends of her obi so that the vines couldn't grab them, "R-right now! Please!" Her voice had risen a few pitches, and the little Baku was clearly terrified by all of this. This was not what she had expected!

He laughed out loud, grabbing her hand with the one hand not holding his guitar and dragging her away at the top of his speed. He was too breathless to laugh, but he sure seemed like he wanted to. They reached the road that led from the wishing well.
When he reached a place he could stop, he stopped, bursting into laughter. "New... plants!" he hooted, falling onto the grass next to the path. "That was great!"

Xiu wasn't quite sure why Roch seemed so amused by what just happened. The moment they were a safe distance away and he let go of her hand, she collapsed in the grass beside him. The only difference was that, while Roch was laughing like it was a riot, the little Baku seemed slightly traumatized.
"I-I'm never going back there again," She whimpered, curling up on the ground, "Why would anyone plant those things there?" There was also the question of whether anyone had actually fallen victim to those man-eating plants but...no, actually? Xiu wasn't sure that she really wanted to know.
"You must be pretty brave if you enjoyed that, Roch." She groaned, turning over and flopping face-down in the grass. Her, on the other hand? She was a coward.

"Not really," he said, grinning at her. "Beating things up doesn't take bravery, it's just a lot of adrenaline. Hey, are you okay?" he asked abruptly, getting serious again. "They didn't hurt you or anything did they?" he asked, looking as if he was tempted to check her physically just to make sure.
"I'm such an idiot," he muttered as he looked her over. "Here I am havin' fun and you could have been hurt. Jackdammit!"

Surprised by the sudden concern she heard in his voice, Xiu sat up to blink at him. After a moment or two, she smiled, shaking her head dismissively. "You're not an idiot, Roch. I'm fine, see?" She stood up and walked around, swinging her arms to show that she was a-okay...
...and then she tripped.
Fortunately, the grass cushioned her fall, but the Baku let out a little wince anyways. She was quick to follow this up with a reassuring smile and a laugh. "Just a little shaky, is all. But I'm not hurt."

He sat down next to her on the ground, bringing his guitar forward. "Yeah, sorry. I shouldn't have kept going forward when I realized what they were," he said as he softly started to play. It was amazing that his guitar sounded so pure, not shaky at all as he played softly to try and calm her down, or maybe it was to calm himself down.
"You sure nothing's hurt?" he asked. "You might not feel it just yet because of adrenaline." Maybe, Roch thought, he was too rough for someone like her to hang out with. Probably. In fact, he was pretty much positive about it. And if she told him she didn't want to hang with him again, he wouldn't complain.
Maybe he should mention that to her.

Closing her eyes, she took deep breaths as she listened to the music, her tense muscles beginning to relax. "Don't apologize! After all I just lingered around like an idiot and took pictures, right? You were the one who noticed what was wrong with them." She laughed sheepishly, rubbing the back of her head with a sigh. "If anything, I should be apologizing to you."
Standing up, she pat off her dress before crouching down beside Roch, grinning. "I'm fine, really! What about you?" Frowning, she looked at him up and down, clearly checking for any gashes or something to that extent. From what she could see though, he seemed fine? She certainly hoped so, at least.
"So much for the plants. Did you want to go get food now?" Xiu held out her hand, and offer to help him get up off the ground.

He let his guitar disappear and pushed himself to his feet, not taking her hand. "I probably weigh twice as much as you, you'd just get pulled down," he told her as an explanation. "Yeah, let's get food!" he went on, grinning. "But no vegetables, I think I've had enough of those for the day."
He turned, heading down the path that led to the maul and expecting her to follow him. "I guess this means no wishes for me, huh? Shame."

"Had enough vegetables? Did you even have any to begin with?" She teased, clasping her hands behind her back when Roch pushed himself up. She trotted after him, moving onto the path that would take them to the maul. His words made her frown and cast a look over her shoulder in the direction of the wishing well. "It is a pity." She agreed, assuming that he was genuinely disappointed, "If...if you want to get a wish in, we could go back and...um...f-fend off the plants for a bit?"
Was she serious? She looked pretty serious, not to mention undeniably terrified at her own proposal.
"T-they weren't that tough." The little Baku added, puffing up slightly. Or at least, as best as she could.

He looked at her, grinning and shaking his head. "They weren't that tough, huh?" he teased. "I'm sure you could take four or five of them on your own, right?" he added, reaching over and messing up her hair.
"Nah, in a way we already got our wishes, right? You made me smile, and I'm going off to have a big dinner! We don't need no stupid wishing well for stuff like that!" he told her, laughing. "Although I might drag Demi or Danny out here just to see them get eaten," he added evilly.

"R-Roch!" She squeaked in protest, ducking her head and trying to protect her head from the ruffling. Laughing, she lightly swat at his hands, trying to fend him off. "A-and okay, maybe they were a little tough but...I could handle them!" Really though, if Xiu was dragged back to face those plants again? She would more likely curl up into a frightened ball than try to beat them up.
She wagged her finger at the reaper warningly, reaching up to lightly swat him on the head. "I'm not sure who Danny is, but please do not lure either Danny or Demi to the man-eating plants," Xiu scolded, propping her hands up on her hips, "I will be very displeased if I hear that something happened to them!" Oh, she knew he was just joking (hopefully), but she couldn't help but play along with the joke.

"Oh, you won't hear anything!" he said cheerfully. "No one will ever knooooow," he added, only to start laughing loudly.
"I'm kidding! Besides, Danny would probably burn the place to the ground," he added with a snort. "Just like she does to my pants. But you should meet her!" he said, abruptly. "She's pretty fun, actually. And a hell of a lot nicer than I am," he added with a little grin.

They neared the maul by this point, and the Baku tapped her chin thoughtfully, looking over to the boil with interest. "What kind of food did you want? I haven't eaten here for a while, so..." She kind of craved something sweet, but that was no surprise for Xiu.
"I'd like to meet Danny sometime," She added, grinned, "I...vaguely recall you mentioning that she burnt your pants before." This was followed by an amused giggle at the memory.
"And I don't know, Roch. You seem like a good person to me." Xiu smiled, her tail giving a little wag. "I try not to make friends with bad people." Though, considering how she carried the naive thought that every was good deep down...well, how did that work?

"Nobody ever does," Roch said, a bit dryly. "There's a sushi place I went to with Lizzy once, wanna go there?" he offered as they headed inside. "You've met Lizzy, right?" he asked as he held the door open for her.
