Calder smiled. "Nice to meet you, Fire Demon Danny. I'm Calder. I'm a kelpie. Um, a water monster if you want to be simple about it." He pointed out, deciding to show what his main element was in regards to what he preferred and how he lived. "Mainly rivers and swamps. A pond or lake maybe, but I do like rivers best. Lots of fast moving water." He made a sweeping gesture with his hand, making it move in a quick wave. "I don't melt in water. Never have. First moment I was out of my pumpkin, I was in water. Just how I'm made. Can't live without it." To which he grew serious. "Seriously. I'd die."
He looked at her and moved over, placing his wet palm on her stomach. "Hmm. It's warm. Maybe you do have fire in there. My mom says there is a fire in everyone, but I think she means passion. Like having a spark of life." He removed his hand and brushed more of his long, wet hair over his shoulder. "I don't care too much for fire. When we throw parties, we have huge fires, but I don't like being surrounded by the heat. Makes me thirsty and tired and sick. I like it better when it's wet and cold. I guess you wouldn't. Bet your momma was smart in telling you where to keep and where not to go, but I don't think a little water hurts." To which he pointed to her hand.
"Ever got your hair wet before? That's not made of fire, right? Can't extinguish that."

"Okay Kelpie Calder," she said very proudly. Was she supposed to refer to everyone by their species first? Maybe it was just a pony thing. She would be more careful from now on! His descriptions had her horrified though. "That sounds like hell, and not the good kind." The good kind had all sorts of fun demons and fire- fire EVERYWHERE. The bad kind was all icey and ... well it wasn't fun.
Danny flinched a little when he put his wet palm on her stomach. She had no problems with people touching her stomach, but she still wasn't over the whole water thing. After all, you couldn't undo years of teaching in just a few minutes. It would take some time.
Her head tilted a little. "Where to keep? Where to keep what? Are we hiding something?" She was already moving from one subject to the next, and it wasn't about to stop. "Ooh are we playing a game? I know some really good hiding spots." She nodded furiously like this was the most serious subject in the world.
Danny looked at the few chunks of hair that were tumbling over her shoulders. Wet? Well not with water. "No ... cause there's no point? We take lava baths so the lava gets us clean ... not water?" Danny was starting to flail a little in terms of thoughts. All of this seemed very complicated, far too complicated for her little head. Could they go back to hide and seek?

"Oh. I mean keep as in keep you at one place. Like...uh...not near water. I guess lava is your water then? I mean, if you swim and bath in it. I can't be near lava. Too hot. I'd melt and die. I don't even have to try to know. Burn myself on just fire. Can't even imagine the hell that would happen if I jumped into that stuff." He thought about it for a moment. "So water to you is like lava to me. Weird. Well, I guess if you can't have one, you at least have another. It seems to work. You're hair is nice." A little too short though. Could be longer. How could you style that in any way?!
"Well, at least you don't burn if you touch water with your hands. I can even touch lava. So now you know you can at least run your hands through some water. It's a nice feeling." He thought about it for a moment. "Want to try something?" He said, offering his hand out to her.

Danny listened and nodded as Calder seemed to babble on about the wonderfulness that was lava. She smiled even bigger when he complimented her hair. Danny liked compliments. Liked them a lot. "Th-thank you. I like your ponytail. The ... plant thingies are pretty," she said with a goofy smile on her face. The reeds were pretty, but Danny would easily just burn them up if she was wearing them. It was why she preferred basic ribbons or wraps for her hair.
Water? A nice feeling? Danny wasn't so sure. Something about it made her touchy and unneasy. It wasn't so much that it hurt physically, but that it just made her unbearably uncomfortable. Perhaps it was a genetic trait all fire demons had, or maybe it was just something instilled from birth. Either way, Danny didn't like water- even if it didn't kill her- that much she was sure of.
Now Danny was always up for trying things. She immediately put her hand in his own and said, "Sure! Are we going to play hide and seek now?"
Yes, she was still stuck on hide and seek.
Calder's hands were really soft. That was pretty unusual for a boil, wasn't it? All the boils Danny knew had rough hands. Maybe it was a side effect of this "water" stuff.

"They're cattails. They also grow in the water." He pointed out, and took her hand. "And no. We're not. Not unless you want to play after and.." He looked down. "...not until I can go to my room and grab a kilt. I wanna show ya something." And with that, he lifted Danny off the ground and headed down the hallway towards the bathrooms. He did not, however, go to the bathrooms, but headed to the fountain inbetween them. He guessed that what with not showering in water that the ghoul wouldn't have come here or knew what they were.
"So we already tried what a drop of water would do. Nothing. Your skin is fine and we're not bringing water near your tail, but a drop of water isn't really teh feel of water. You don't get to feel it brushing your skin. I think this is probably the most you could do, considering the fact you can't swim. Not unless we put a bubble over your tail." He released her hand, and went over to the fountain.
"But at least it's a start to show you a few things." He pushed the button on the fountain and soon a stream started up. Calder smiled and placed his hand in the stream. The water traveled over his hand and nowhere else. "See. Just think of it as many drops of water together. The water does go anywhere else. Give it a go."

Reeds. Right. Danny would get all of this new information down eventually.
Looking down, Danny remembered that the boil was still in just a towel. Danny didn't particularly mind the lack of clothing- the reasoning should be obvious- but she was a little concerned with how easily the towel could drop and reveal everything. Well if Calder wasn't concerned, she wouldn't be concerned either.
Besides, she didn't have any time to think about it anyways, as Calder was already whisking her down the hall. At first, she thought he was heading straight back to the bathrooms to make her take a water shower, which horrified her to no end, but once she realized he was passing it, she relaxed. Instead he pulled up to a fountain, and she was actually excited to look at it, until she realized it was filled with water, not fire. There was still an instinctual flinch, but she didn't run away screaming, so that was improvement right?
So she was supposed to just ... stick her hand in this stream thing? Danny didn't like this. What if it sprayed everywhere and ended up on her tail? That's it, Calder was trying to kill her, it was official.
Despite her urge to run away from the killer though, she felt an entirely new sensation. A curiosity about the deadly substance in front of her. Calder was actually making her question her upbringing, go figure. Hesitantly at first, but then quite suddenly, Danny stuck her hand into the stream. Result?
It felt absolutely disgusting. She yanked her hand out and said, "Oh Calder, that was so gross! It was all slimy and ... oh JACK." She shuddered just remembering the sensation. It was like slugs were climbing all over her hand. "You call that nice and .... augh Jack why Calder?"

Calder really thought that would be what would bring Danny over to loving water, but the reaction she had was shocking. "You really don't like it?" He said in disbelief. It was such a strange thing that the one element he couldn't do without, that made him feel happiest, that he loved and enjoyed at all hours, was getting such a reaction from someone else. Repulsed even!
Despite that the insult wasn't to him, he took it rather personally only because he felt he should defend the fountain and it's water from such looks. Well, that was a test, and the idea of even getting Danny to try swimming or maybe just foot soaking was out. It was settled that Danny just seemed to really dislike water, and Calder decided that it was just something he would have to accept. He tried at least.
"Well, that means you really don't like it. Guess ya can lead a horse to water - but if the horse doesn't like it, let it run off and drink lava." Or something like that. "Still, I don't hate ya for it. Guess you have your lava and I have my water. We'll never be fighting over that stuff then, and hey, now you know." She at least knew her hand wouldn't melt, and maybe she was one of the few of her kind that actually dipped their entire hand in a fountain.

Danny gave Calder yet another bemused look. "We don't drink lava. We bathe in it." She reached up and dried her hand off on Calder's hair (considering she didn't really have anything to dry it off on on her person. Bikini's didnt work well for drying), and said, "You have some weird ... tradition thingies."
"And why would we fight over it?" Danny scratched her head. This was one pony she didn't get. He was nice though, so Danny automatically considered them friends.
She would have to find a way to repay him for all this information giving. Wait, was she supposed to get homework from him or something? This was a lot like class after all ...
Looking down at Calder, she realized he still wasn't dressed. "Did you want to change? You must be awfully cold in that outfit," she offered. Danny wasn't exactly know for wearing parkas, but her body temperature made it naturally comfortable. True, some of the dorms like the undead dorms and the ghost dorms were extremely cold her for, but she was slowly adjusting to the temperature.
