Nodding lightly, Shun continued on towards the grocer. In the meantime, Bent-Tail gave out a few happy squeaks as Xiu petted him on the head. It was quite apparent that the nergal miced tea was enjoying the attention. Unlike his master, he was considerably sociable.
In fact, he almost seemed a little sad when the Baku stopped with the petting.
"I can make a few things here and there," The reaper replied. Growing up he sort of had to learn how to make some things for himself when his father was too busy or if the guy refused to make anything. There wasn't a lot he could do, but it was edible. Sushi was one of the easiest things for him to do... especially since his dad often made him do it to practice using knives. It wasn't the same as fighting as a dagger, but there were some similar qualities to it.. he supposed.
That was the excuse anyway.
It didn't require any real cooking aside from the rice in any case.
"You.. were one of the ones in charge of the prom food, weren't you?" he asked, recalling something along those lines.

To be honest, despite the fact she had asked, Xiu was a little surprised to learn that Shun could cook. Or at least, he said that he could make a few things, which was more than some of the other boils she knew. Going off of his appearance though, the grumpy reaper really didn't seem like the type of person who made food. He looked more like...well, the training or fighting type. Frowning, Xiu tried to visualize Shun cooking...
And all she got was a mental image of Shun in an apron and a chef's hat (Not just an apron though, mind you. Xiu is too innocent for that I'mlookingatyouguys |: ). Her hands instantly flew to her mouth to suppress her giggles.
"It's a good skill to have," She said when she finally got herself under control, "At least, it's a lot more convenient, wouldn't you agree?" Not to mention Xiu liked knowing that there wasn't a whole bunch of junk going into her food.
She was startled by the question, unaware that Shun had known that. "Um, yes! I was, actually!" She grinned sheepishly and rubbed the back of her head, "What did you think of the food? It seemed to be a hit?" While she waited for an answer, she went back to petting Bent-Tail, patting the little mouse's head affectionately.

Hearing the giggle, Shun's eyes narrowed as he wondered what was so damn funny. Was it something he said? He wasn't aware that he had said anything remotely amusing. Girls... or people in general.. could be so weird sometimes. At least whatever it was that caused the giggle fit faded off as she spoke to him again.
"I suppose," he said, "Better than being left with nothing."
Nodding to Xiu, he looked back towards the road, spying the grocery up ahead. It shouldn't take too long to pick up what he needed, then head back to his dorm. At least he wouldn't need to use the communal kitchen for this. Cleaning up his desk area would probably work well enough.
"It was rather good actually," he replied. There were.... its awkward moments for sure, but as a whole the food was considerably better than what was served in the cafeteria most of the time.
As he was getting petted again, Bent-Tail wiggled and let out happy little squeaks. Yeessssss he really liked this girl for sure.

She was clearly pleased to hear that he liked the food. Xiu settled with a modest smile, but her eyes had brightened at the compliment of sorts. "I'm glad to hear that! Everyone worked very hard on the food." She suddenly frowned and scrunched up her nose, "Though...I'm kind of surprised, really. I didn't think there were that many requests for meat, but the sausages had been really popular."
Nope, she had no idea what had been going on there.
Xiu trailed after the reaper when they arrived at the grocery store, unsure as to what he was intending to buy. "Let me know if I can hold something for you, okay?" She wasn't sure that he'd let her pay for a share of the grocery bill, so the least she could do was offer to carry something back.
While she was here though..."Are there any snacks that you like to eat, Shun? Or Bent-Tail?" It was an innocently curious question, really.

Shun's eye twitched slightly at the mention of the sausages. That whole incident was a bit too awkward for him and he didn't really want to recall it.
... Even though it was really hot to see.
Shaking his head to rid the images of... Mitsu... slowly eating the saus--
Jack dammit. Shoving it aside, he let out a huff while turning his attention back to Xiu as she offered to hold things for him. Nodding to her, he didnt' really have any intention of grabbing that much. It should all be able to fit in one of those basket things pretty well.
"Bent likes cheese and seeds," he replied. There was also fear candy as well but that was a given.
"I like rice crackers.." he murmured to answer for himself as well.

Cheese, seeds, and rice crackers. Got it. "I'll hold the basket." Xiu chirped, grabbing one the moment she saw a stack of them sitting nearby. When she thought about it, it was...honestly a little awkward to be shopping with Shun. He really wasn't a bad guy though.
Just grumpy. Really, really grumpy.
While Shun was picking out the fish, Xiu suddenly put the basket down. "Excuse me for a moment, okay? I'll be back in a second." Without waiting for a reply, she darted off to two aisles--the dairy products, and the snack aisle. It shouldn't have come as any surprise that the three items she grabbed just happened to be a small block of cheese, a pack of seeds, and a bag of rice crackers.
Returning to where she left Shun, Xiu tossed the goods into the basket, reminding herself to take them out at the cashier so that she could pay for them. "Is there anything else you need?"

Raising an eyebrow at Xiu, Shun shrugged before picking out the fish. He got some tuna, some salmon, some shrimp and some crab meat. Along with that, he went and picked up a cucumber and avocado as well. When he met up with the baku again, he glanced at the basket contents, quirking his brow once again.
"What's this for?" he asked. There wasn't anything else he needed to grab, but he wanted to know why she went on and grabbed those foods before heading to the checkout.

Upon arriving at the checkout, Xiu removed the three items she had grabbed and stepped forward to pay for them. She smiled at Shun's question as she counted out seeds from her wallet. "What do you mean what are they for?" She asked back, sliding the seeds forward to the cashier, "You said that Bent-Tail liked cheese and seeds, and that you like rice crackers. While you feel like you owe me for my lost lunch, I feel like I owe you something for making me a new one." It really was a nice gesture, and not one that everyone she knew would do.
She thanked the cashier when he handed her a bag containing her purchases, and immediately went and opened up the bag of seeds. She poured a few into her hand, and then looked up at the mouse perked on Shun's shoulder.
"...May I?" She asked, directing this question to both owner and pet.

That made little sense to Shun. He was fulfilling his debt and there she was feeling like it was her that owed him anything. Before he could really stop her, she had already bought the goods. Letting out a sigh, he mumbled something under his breath before buying the ingredients, pausing by Xiu as she opened up a bag of seeds.
"... You really didn't have to buy anything," he murmured, "But go ahead."
Bent-Tail let out a happy chirp before eyeing the seeds the Baku held with interest. She pet him and was giving him treats! This was a girl after his own heart. The mini just knew it. Bouncing on the Reaper's shoulder, he soon settled down and patiently waited for Xiu to offer the seeds, proving that despite his outburst causing this whole scenario, he can be very well behaved indeed.

"I wanted to." She answered simply, before reaching out to offer the small handful of seeds to Bent-Tail. He really was a well-behaved pet, but that only seemed to be expected if you had an owner like Shun. Shun didn't seem like the type to put up with any sort of nonsense. He was very...stern-looking.
"What are you making?" Xiu asked, patting off her hands when all the seeds were eaten. She eyed the bag of ingredients curiously, wondering what the reaper intended on making with all those. It certainly wasn't anything she had ever tried before, that was for certain.
Well, she would be getting a new recipe out of this! That, and it'd definitely be interesting watching Shun cook. He didn't...really wear an apron, did he?
...Boooo, she left her camera in her dorm room.

Shaking his head to himself, Shun just gathered the bags, pausing for the moment while Bent-Tail took some seeds to nibble at them. Once he gave the mouse some time to do so, he began to head back towards the Reaper dorms.
"A few different types of sushi. Nothing fancy," he replied.
There really wasn't anything fancy about it, at least in his mind.
"Just got some tuna and salmon."

Sushi? "Is that what it's called?" Xiu murmured, thinking back to the stuff that her father liked to eat, "Is it like...raw fish rolled up in rice? And covered in..." She wasn't sure what the black (or was it faintly green?) stuff wrapped around sushi rolls was. Her father also liked to eat his with this strange green...paste. He would add a big dollop to each roll before eating it.
Was that how you were supposed to eat sushi? Maybe Xiu would try it if Shun had any of that green paste stuff.
When they arrived back at Amityville and were right in front of the Reaper dorms, Xiu suddenly stopped walking, frowning up at Shun questioningly. Was she...uh, supposed to follow him into the dorm? She wasn't sure if he would appreciate her hovering close by and watching him cook.
Okay, maybe she wasn't entirely comfortable around him yet. She was still paranoid he was suddenly going to lunge at her again (even if that had been unintentional).

Since Shun wasn't paying that much attention to the Baku as he made his way up to his room, he wasn't too aware of how antsy she was getting. That is, until he glanced to the side and saw her giving him quite the questioning gaze.
Rather than saying anything, he just sort of shrugged and continued on his way to his room, not really caring all that much.
Once he reached his place, he unlocked the door and headed on in.
"Go ahead and have a seat or whatever," he murmured while making his way to his desk. The Reaper cleared it out before grabbing a towel to wipe it down. He also went on and grabbed a cutting board, some knives, and the container of rice and seaweed that he already had. Once he had his mini station set up, he went on ahead to wash his hands.
In the meantime, Bent-Tail had scaled down so that he was now on the floor.

...Shun, what was she supposed to make of that non-committal answer? Was she supposed to follow, or stay behind? After a moment of internal panicking, she scrambled after him, if only because she interpreted that shrug as "whatever you want" which, at the very least, meant that he wasn't bothered by her presence.
"Um, yes, thank you." Nodding at his invitation, she sat herself down and, not sure what else to do, took to observing her surroundings. Some things actually reminded her of home, particularly the mats and the lanterns. Her room used to be full of lanterns, but since moving to the dorms, she only brought one over.
Noticing that Bent-Tail was no longer perched on Shun's shoulder, Xiu fluttered her fingers in an attempt to get the mouse's attention. "Is it lunch time for you too, Bent-Tail? I have more snacks for you..." She removed the pack of seeds and cheese block from the bag, pausing when she grabbed the rice crackers. "Should...should I just leave these on the table, Shun?"

"Go for it," Shun said as he came back out of the bathroom. Once he was back to his desk, he started to cut up the fish and vegetables with a sort of ease and swiftness. When everything was cut up, he got his strips of nori and placed some rice, cucumber and avocado onto it.
He was moving pretty quickly over all, so it wouldn't be too long before he had everything finished up.
Bent-Tail made his way over to Xiu as he saw her flutter her fingers. Pausing by her feet, he tilted his head and sat up on his haunches. He tilted his head to the baku and his nose twitched slightly in curiosity. However, he seemed to perk up at the mention of snacks. The mouse looked at the cheese and seeds with interest, waiting patiently to see what the girl would do with them all.
