Friends. In all her life Parto had never been asked to become friends. It just sort of happened, and was a natural progression of things, well, that was how it normally happened. But Mitya wasn't really a normal lion, not in the sense of the lions of the pride, who were battle worn warriors. And perhaps if he had a friend then the other members might not talk about him much. Or maybe they'd start talking about her.
Oh, what was the harm. If things went bad she could always just stop talking to him. And it would be good to see him improve. If it was possible. "Okay," she said, her decision made. "Though, you don't usually ask to be friends. Well, young do I suppose. But it just sort of happens."
"But that's okay." Mityo was different and was treated differently. It was only logical that he'd approaching things in different ways to others.

"Oh, good." He grinned rather like a happy child who had just received a gift. Indeed, friendship did seem as much like a present to him than material items. "I see..." He said, pondering what his new friend had said. He had always thought that asking seemed a little awkward, but had never quite known any other way.
"The last friend I had, I had to ask her too," he said, by way of explanation. "But then, she left." The friend in question was the mate that had decided to leave, had knowingly chosen exile instead of the prospect of a life without children. It had all happened so quickly that Mitya hadn't quite known how to react, and in truth, he wasn't even sure he could still consider her a friend... she wouldn't be back, that much he knew, but...
He supposed this friendship would be different, though. Parto wasn't asking him for babies, anyway, just something he was good at. Mitya wasn't altogether sure he could provide that either, but for the sake of preserving their new alliance, he had to do his very best. His mate had left because he hadn't be able to give her what she had asked for, so it only made sense that Parto might do the same - and that would just be terrible. Unskilled as he was in social circumstance (or, indeed, any circumstances), Mitya was still aware that losing a friend was not such a desirable occurrence.
"I'm going to find something to think about well," he added, as if to assure her that he could do it. He hoped he could, anyway.

"That is too bad." Parto nodded. She had heard rumors about his mate, but did not want to bring them up, for she was sure it would just shame him. She didn't want him to feel bad, not after they had possibly worked out something he may be good at. Teal eyes looked him over. He was a strange lion, that was for sure, different from all the others, who were strong, but also obnoxious and self centered. Although Mityo came across as unsure and subdued, it was a change of pace for Parto, and one that she had quite enjoyed.
"Good." She smiled and hoped that he would find that he was good at something.
The lightly colored lioness looked to the sky. The sun had moved quite considerably since she had paused to talk with Mityo. Damn, thought Parto to herself, I'd hoped to be further along on my patrol. If any Qyrhyeshti had gotten through on her watch she would be furious.
"I'm sorry Imitiyaz, but I really should get back to my partol. Excuse me." She bowed her head in apology before setting off. She glanced back at the awkward lion and hoped that he would become less in time.
