"JACKDAMMIT DANNY!" Roch bellowed, chasing after her, ignoring the fact that his pants were smoking slightly, and he wasn't wearing a shirt or even shoes. He chased after her, dodging a few other reapers as he raced through the hall and slammed into a wall, turning a corner. "Bring me back my comb!!"
She had gotten to the stairs, he thought irritably. "You're gonna fall and break your neck!"

Danny glided down the stairs on her feet like some sad little anime skateboarder. She jumped off the end and ran down the rest of the stairs. Since she was a good distance from Roch she turned around and shouted, somewhat panting, "Haha STUPID ROCH IS SLOW!" She continued to run until she met with the Amityville wall.
Bloody Mary she was trapped. Danny turned around and bluffed. She bluffed like the wiiiind. "HAHA ROCH. YOU LOOK SO STUPID WITH YOUR BURNT PANTS," she said.
Then she noticed a little meadow to the right of where she was- a meadow filled with dead trees and wilted roses- perfect cover. She looked at the gap between her and Roch, and the meadow. It was closing quickly.
Roch was gaining fast, so she'd have to hurry. She bolted quickly to the right and ran like there was no tomorrow, comb still in her hands which were flapping around wildly like a marionette.
Honestly, if Roch ever caught up to her, there would be no tomorrow.

He slid down the railing of the stairs and hit the ground running, almost getting her as she reached the wall, then cursing as she turned and kicking up his speed. He didn't waste time yelling at her, he knew that monsters and demons were faster than he was, so he would have to use his brains.
He veered off, angling to catch her rather than chase her straight off.

Danny's turned around and made funny faces at Roch. He was so stupid! How in the world did he think he could beat a demon in a race? Especially one so amazing as herself.
Then she tripped over a bush.
WHY DID THE REAPER DORMS HAVE BUSHES? Bushes were dumb. Danny vowed to burn down every single one she saw. Which is exactly what she did. Who cared if the gnomes would be mad with her. Danny stuck out her hand and felt the warm heat of a fireball form. She smashed it down on the bush which immediately burst into flames.
Oh no! Danny had forgotten about Roch! He had switched directions and was now coming straight towards her! OH JACK RUN was all she could think.
Danny booked it towards the meadow, running as fast as her little legs could carry her. She was not about to give up this comb!

He kicked up the speed for a brief second then jumped, tackling her to the ground and starting to pat her down. He was breathing a little too hard to speak, and he probably should have asked if he hurt her when he tackled her, but she WAS a demon.
Those bastards were born tough.

Danny could see it! The meadow was right in front of her! She was so close to the center of, which she now deemed the "finishing line" of this haphazard race.
Oh hello ground. You're coming at an awful quick speed.
Danny went down like a sack of bricks. Exhausted, she just layed there for a second, catching her breath. She gripped the comb fiercely and shoved it in her pocket. Even if Roch started killing her, she would never let go!
Okay so maybe it wasn't that dramatic. Danny just wanted this comb and wanted it bad. She squirmed under Roch's body, but he was too heavy to move. "Rochhhh. Your stupid butt is too big! Get offa me!!" She couldn't even move her tail, it was wrapped around her leg (like she always did when she ran) and smooshed under the twosome.
Danny was this close to kicking him where it hurts when she had an idea. "ROCH GET OFF OR I'M BURNING THIS FIELD" She created a fireball in her hand just to show how serious business she was.

"Gimme the comb or I'm gonna lick you! I swear I will!" Roch threatened, making a disgusting hacking sound in the back of his throat. "It's WAAATTTERRR," he added evilly.

Danny squiggled more under the weight of Roch. Why couldn't he just get off?
You know, this must've looked incredibly awkward to anyone else. What a great introduction to Amityville. Now they were probably going to get a ton of "were you the two tussling on the hill by the reaper dorms?" everywhere they went. FABULOUS.
Danny's voices was muffled under Roch's threats to lick her, but she still managed to scream, "EWWWW. ROCH GET OFF."
Danny began burning the edges of his pants, and a teensy bit of the skin. She didn't even care if he was hurt, she wanted him off now. In fact, giving Roch a scar might be nice, so he'd remember not to do it again. She pushed up in hopes that it might further her success with moving the big oaf.

"Comb first," he growled, ignoring the pain in his leg and the burning of his pants. "Ms. Wheedle gave me that comb!" he snarled, digging in one of her pockets. "You can't have it!"

Danny giggled and squealed as Roch checked her pockets. "Roch ... ahahaha," she started, but had to take a breath from laughing so hard, "ROCH! That TICKLES!" Danny burst out in laughing, and her tailed roared up with flame, burning the grass next to the twosome.
In fact, Danny was laughing so hard she started hiccuping. It wouldn't have been that big of a deal if it wasn't for the fact that when flame demons hiccuped, they coughed up little spurts of fire. Little spurts that promptly burned the tips of Roch's hair.
"Roch ... Roch you hair ... PAHAHAHA!" she shouted. If it was even possible, now Danny was laughing even harder because she found the tips of his hair burning hilarious.
The flame demon would be bowled over with laughter if it wasn't for the fact that she was already adaquately ... bowled over. She started kicking her legs the more Roch dug in her pockets.

"Candlejack!" he snarled, his fingers touching the comb then wrapping around it and hauling it out. "THIS is mine," he muttered, patting at his head to put out the fire. Thankfully wet hair doesn't burn very much at all. He stood, and started to walk away, slipping the comb into his own pocket. His leg hurt. She'd burnt a hole in yet ANOTHER pair of his pants, too. "Jackdammit, why couldn't I have picked water based pals?"

Danny shrugged and looked at Roch with nothing but pure mischief. At least he was finally off of her. The stupid oaf must've weighed a ton. He probably hid rocks in his pants.
In response to his insult, Danny said, "Because you love me too much!" She didn't mean it romantically, just sarcastically. "Or maybe you're scared of me! Yeah that must be it." She playfully tapped his nose and then put his arm around her shoulder. "C'mon stupid Roch, I'll help you back to the dorm."
She looked down at the hole she had accidentally burnt in his pants. Oops. It left a nasty burn. Well nothing a little water couldn't treat. Just to be sure though, she said, "Want to go to the nurses? She has cute bugs." Danny missed her bug friends.

"Holy jackin' hell, are you CRAZY?" he said, jerking away. "She EATS people! And she's a ghost! I'll just deal with the scar, I think I got some cream or something," he muttered. "But candlejack, did you see what you did to my pants? Do you have something against them? Some deep, unnamed hatred for my clothes??"
He pulled away from her. "For that matter, three feet away. Go on. In fact, you go to your dorm and I'll go to mine, and no more of my pants will suffer," he said, waving her off. "Jackin... I paid for those pants with my own seeds," he muttered as he limped away, leaving her behind.
