Kamiss sat against a wall, crying. His eyes were silver again, and he had control of his body again. He lifted his eyes to the ehavens and shouted. "WHY AM I DOING THIS? HAVE YOU CURSED ME RAVIN? FATHER, WHY HAVE YOU DONE THIS TO ME???"

Arinoa hauled herself up, and heard the young man voice a heart-breaking cry, and so she gingerly stepped over to him, unsure of what to do.

Kamiss' head snapped up, and he leapted away. He bolted away.

Startled, Arinoa took the form of a slim doe, big brown eyes locked on her "quarry". She chased after him, unsure why. Only aware of the need to know this strange person.

He saw the doe running at him, and knew it was the girl. His vision started to swim and his speed increased. "NO!" He shouted. "You will not do this to me again!" He rolled to the side, into some brush, but no sound was heard as he fell into the bushes.

Arinoa skidded to a stop, tan head swooping back and forth. She'd lost him. A sense of something important tugged at her, something urgent. She instantly thought of her pack, left behing where she'd stopped, and dashed off, the young man forgotten for the time being. But not for long.

Kamiss watched her go from his perch on a tree branch. When he had rolled into the brush he immediatly jumped, grabbed a branch, and swung out of view. He ran to the stream, and soaked his clothes and body until all the blood was washed away, then he rushed home.

As she burst through the underbrush out into the open, she instantly realized what was going on. She snorted, irritated, and changed again. As a she-bear, she towered over the bobcat tearing her pack to shreds. The cat turned around, blinked once, and was gone into the shadows. Arinoa changed back to human form, remarkably still in her clothes. She sighed, trying to figure out what to carry her gunna in.

Kamiss walked into the house, past his brothers, past his mother, and went to his room. He knelt by his bed and prayed for strength to his god, and his father, Ravin. Help me to defeat what has come over me...

She sank back against the rock, and threw her thoughts to the wind, searching for a solution. Like the bird she'd recently been, her mind alighted on the house of the young man. Perhaps they could help her. Gathering up her posessions into her skirt, she stood and stepped into the trees, her memory pointing the way.

She reached the house, and after a moment's hesitation, knocked on the door. She waited patiently, nervously, for the door to open.

Kamiss came out of his praying as the knocking began. He moved to the top of the stairs as his mother opened the door.

Arinoa sighed, relieved, at the sight of the woman who looked at her curiously.
"IO'm sorry to bother you ma'am, but I just lost my only pack to an animal. Is there any way I could borrow or buy one from you? If you have extra, that is. I could pay you...?"
She gazed hopefully at the woman, wanting to peer around her into the house.

Kamiss saw who it was and his eyes narrowed. "Give up." He muttered. His mom staretd to call for him and suddenly she found a brand new pack in her waiting arms. "Oh uh... ehre. You don't have to pay me." She said, trying to mask her confusion. Kamiss turned and walked back to his room.

Arinoa smiled, half-heartedly, a little confused. She turned to leave, unhappy, but not knowing why. She stepped from the stoop, and disappeared into the growing dark.
