History of the Artifacts

You gather dust through the ages,
In your time all the rages,
Commonplace and easily found,
Little wonder does abound,
But time goes on,
The children die,
Your era ends as time does fly,
Now so special,
Now unique,
The past of others do we seek

The Art of Friendship

A friend is like a little pen,
A story yet to begin,
With bright black ink,
And shiny smile,
You write- you write to pass the while,
But days have come,
And days will go,
The pen aside as wear does show,
But unlike a pen worn for weather,
Friends will always be together

Things for her Parlor

Pretty things are often cruel,
So says the fundamental rule,
Pretty daggers in a row,
Cut the skin,
I told you so,
So says the fundamental rule,
Beneath the wrist do rubies pool.

My old doll - Ku-chan! Very sweet and a very good little girl, she keeps secrets and prayers with her so that all your dreams might come true. Some of my old wishes are still in there, and I think she may just have enough luck for a few more for Alice.

Every little lady needs a fan. It matches the outfit I first purchased for her, so I decided I might as well throw that in as well. At least she won't be hot this summer...

The first thing Alice ever asked me for, that wasn't an absolute must for her physical survival. She wanted it so badly - and she'd never asked for anything before - so I picked it up as a suprise present to come with a party invitation we recieved

A small lamp to illuminate the darkness of her room, at night. It hangs near the bedside to chase away the shadowy dreams that I know will try to come for her

A box of crayons! I pain with the professional stuff, so it isn't exactly cheap - but that doesn't mean I'm just going to refuse to let her draw to! So here it is. A box of crayons so she can be just like Mother.

Felix the cat is soft and fat, A soft and fat cat, Imagine that! Gah! I spoil my little girl...Our giftshop came into stock of these little critters, so I secretly snuck one out just for her. I bet he'll promote mischief - just because I didn't pay for him.

Curator's Log: February 15, 2006
Author: Elizabeth Cross
Notoriety: Not required

~~~
10:19am: Curator's Log has begun for the day. I have been in active duty since the time of 6:39am this morning. The museum - opened accordingly. The artifact in question - placed on display in my personal collection, near the day bed.
The jar has continued to glow from the time of Shy's departure. I was suprised that such a thing would occurr so quickly as this - for it had not waited him to leave - but rather started durring his visitation period. We witnessed the dagger ignite together. It was a moment of magic, no question in that...and I felt something new that I haven't before. Something there. Something real and genuinely close to my heart.
I felt maternal towards the jar. It was and is my child!
Shy backed off a bit after a brief display of my affection was granted towards the swirling mists. I think it made him uncomfortable...
Not to mention my own advance towards him in a more personal way.
That failed, but since when had I expected it to work? It would be unheard of to forge a 'love at first sight' sort of relationship with this man! He set me straight shortly after. In all - he isn't interested. I won't be trying again.
He was not unkind though. We went out for drinks the next evening and it was an all about lovely time. I think he and I shall get along splendidly- but until that time I have a tour schedueled in ten minutes!
End Log.
Children's rooms are delicate things. If one makes it too dark the child can be morbid; too light, the child hopelessly optimistic. To classy - you breed a perfectionist. Not refined enough and a wild child might appear.
All these things had to be taken into consideration as Elizabeth poured over paint swaths. She had been on the daybed since morning. The glowing vassal kept close beside in plain veiw of the vast array of colors that had been chosen out. But which one did the child like?
"How about this?" Elizabeth turned to look at the jar she'd become so fond of. The color indicated against her pale finger was a pure ebony. Dark but a classy thing - creating a more enclosed feeling to the room. It might offer the comfort the jar served in this way.
But was it offensive? "Welll...?" She pressed harder. No response. The jar did not seem at all interested in this or any of the colors Elizabeth had been prompting at.
It was becomming increasingly frustrating - the jar would not; at this time, respond to anything. She couldn't blame the Fae within for her own qualms with it though. Shy had mentioned it wouldn't be able to hear her...The album's covers came together, closing, before the owner set it asside and beneath the bed. Maybe later there would be more of a plausible desire for it.
But until that time - only one thing was to be done. Elizabeth swung her legs over the opposing side (away from the jar of course) and pushed herself to both feet. It was Super Nintendo time! And what better game to play than Super Mario Bros. 3
Soon enough, the lights were dimmed. The only source of said light being the jar itself and the 8-bit world of vibrant contrast, colorful characters, and goomba-stomping-goodness. Elizabeth had always been a kid at heart. She loved watching Bowser plummet at his prime moment as she invaded and stormed the castle to save the wayward Princess from evil's scaly clutches.
Her eyes were fixated upon the scene - the jar, and paint, forgotten for that instant. But what she did not witness in relation to these things was that every time the screen flashed with another scroll to the right side- so did the jar. To the tiny track of reppetative music and appearance of enemies approaching, it swerved and swayed almost in hypnotic fashion that remmanissed that it too wished to be in that castle of so long ago making.
If only it could be...the mist pressed against the glass, almost forming itself as every ounce was placed in tust the barrier would hold. Elizabeth watched. The jar watched Elizabeth. Harder and harder she played on until the fight was won - goodness had prevailed.
Although she must have done it a hundred times, she gave an excited whoop of joy and spun about. In this catching sight of the jar with widened optics of hazel green. Her lip trembled slightly as she froze in dance of triumphant victory - and she stared long and hard at the reaction it'd caused.
"My gods..." The final melody played out. Saddened did the jar return to normal status of undirected wanderings. What HAD triggered it? Elizabeth could not say. But she would be playing SNES more often for sure - she had to see what this Fae was up to.
February 22, 2006
Today I've been shopping - with a child on the way, I thought it would be best to pick up at least a few supplies. But what do you buy children? I did some reasearch on the matter ( research being: listening in on the banter of my coworkers ) and have compiled a list for my aggenda today.
Shopping list:
L`oreal Cheery Almond Shampoo
Dr. Seus series
...
Ok so maybe I'm not quite as prepared as I'd hoped. Maybe it's just one of those learning things - you have to have the child before you can begin raising them. How much longer though? That I cannot say. Shy mentioned he thought this one might come sooner, but it's already finished out the course of the week. Five more days is all I'm giving it before I take the jar back to the lab to see if anything's wrong.
I mean - haven't I been doing a good job? I thought I had been. Ah well, five more days is a long time still. Maybe shampoo and some books are all the kid will require for the first few days...
Eh. I'll go to the store anyways. Maybe I'll find some food or somethin while browsing....
February 24, 2006
Dear Journal,
My dear little girl has emerged from her chamber - and already an artisan she has proved! Can you believe that she took the time to arrange the glass from her jar into a makeshift creation? I can't! To said creation - it was collected and placed into a frame that now hangs in Alice's room.
Now that I mention it, I feel guilty for not having completed the room in time for her comming. There's only the basic essentials in there at the moment: a free mirror, a bed, a wardrobe, a dresser, a changing screen, and a small vanity that contains a pitcher of water and rag. All that a little girl should need.
I'm thinking of buying her a toychest.
But I fear if I do - she'll expect it to be full - and that is money I just don't have right now after buying furniture.
She hasn't complained of the lack of toys though. No. She pines for clothing and this I cannot blame her for. Since she emerged, all I've been able to scrap for clothing was an old apron. It was promplty cut up and resewn into a rough little dress.
Alice was not at all thrilled - but she did thank me in her own way, so I suppose she isn't terribly upset over the entire agenda.
Tommorow we're going clothes shopping though. Not my ideal day for it really, I have to work, so the trip will be a brief one.
I do hope she isn't too hard to fit...bu more of that later.
Until that time, I say Farewell.
Elizabeth
