Malodore opened its beak in a smile. "So it would seem. Perhaps it is an adolescent thing. I am given to understand that adolescents often rebel against their families, even if they do not provide good reasons for doing so." It was amused at the idea, clearly.
"And I do not think you are a coward, or lazy. Far from it. Besides, for all that you think you lack mental acuity, you have an emotional grasp that I... envy. I am not so good with such things."

"Hmmmm? Then wont 'cha miss your family after?" He would certainly miss his. Then again, either someone didn't have family or didn't care for them, which probably made rebellion a whole of a heck easier when there was nothing to hold you there. A boat without an achor. It was an old phrase he knew, but he didn't think Malodore would appreciate a lecture. Considering what he had been told, the Plaugue doctor did not want to go back under any circumstance and seemed happier now. That was what was important.
Feeling better, he grinned at being envied in any regard. Slipping off the chair, he made a big show of going "AWWWWW!" And reached over to hug the undead about the neck, being mindful of all it's sharp bits. "You just need hugged more. That's all. I think you're super smart, Malodore, so that means a lot, and I envy you too." He nuzzled his mask playfully before releasing and tilting it's hat. "You are just surrounded by stuffy friends who don't like to just let it all out. THAT is why you need to know more monsters. We're an asset." He said, smiling as he puffed with personal pride. "You're missing out without more of us around." Undeads and demons were all well and good, but he noticed a severe lack of monsters in the group. Yeah, there was Jericho but...blah. Dragons who liked being mounts - What was up with that?!
"Still, I saw you getting emotional enough during Scarentines when you were outside with RRRrrriillleeeeeyyy. Getting fresh out in the open. At least your not all dead in there." To which he pointed directly at Malodore's heart.

Malodore patted at Calder's head, a little awkwardly, but did not try to peel the kelpie off of itself as it had at their first meeting. "Ah, but I do know some excellent monsters. Like yourself, and G, and - have you met Hasuko? She's new at Amityville, but she is very kind. I imagine you'd get along well with her. You're both watery beasts."
As for the rest... "No, I suppose not," it said, bemused, following Calder's gesture with its gaze. "Not entirely."

"Hasuko? Hasuko?" He said, tapping his chin before shrugging. "Never heard of her. I know G. Met him when I went swimming. I guess I should be meeting more monsters. I find I hang with more demons and undead, and here I thought I'd never hang with anyone but monsters when I went to school." He smiled, but thought about that a moment. He probably should meet more monsters. Then again, he liked hanging with what few friends he had than trying to meet as many people as he could. Quality over quantity and all that pipe music.

"G is a splendid creature... the first monster I really met here, actually. The first anyone." It looked thoughtful. "I honestly didn't think I'd 'hang' with anyone. I thought I would be alone, studying in solitude as I did at the Casa. I'm glad to have been proven wrong..." It tilted its head at Calder, then opened its beak in a smile. "I am grateful for many things, you among them. Calder, I would be honored if you would, ah, perhaps accept this?" It closed its hand, then opened its fingers to reveal:

Calder waved such silly ideas away. "It's good you came out of your room then and didn't stay in there. I wouldn't have a leech babysitter." To which Calder smiled, remember the first time they met. Malodore had been kind to him despite being a stranger, and took on the responsibility of tending to all his leeches despite not knowing him. That alone sealed it for Calder that Malodore was a good person and not just for liking leeches either. He at least felt a degree of kindship of being familiar with growing in swamps though Malodore hardly seemed the water type.
He in no way though he would get the Plague Doctor's pin though. He thought they were good friends, but pin-worthy?!
Calder stared in pure surprise at the pin, before smiling and looking at the Plague Doctor to be sure if it was okay to even take it. Reaching out, he examined it before finding a plot of his lapel with Chrsitof's. "Thanks! I..I'm really happy I met you too, Malodore. You and Chrsitof made me think of the undead in a completely new way, and like now, you are a great person for advice."
Which was why it wasn't unnatural for Calder to hold out his own hand and concentrate. Wow. Giving a pin was trying stuff. Collecting your fear in such a tiny thing, but Calder remembered how to do it when he made one for Christof. He opened his hand, glad it looked right.

"I'd like you to have mine. I..usually don't give it out, but..." He considered it a moment. "...I think I can trust you." He hoped.

"I may not have a heartbeat, but I do have a heart - several, actually. Just most of them are in jars," Malodore said, amused. It reached out and took Calder's pin, warmly gratified that the kelpie had offered his own emblem in return. "Molto grazie. Ah, that means 'thank you very much'. You are not terrible for advice yourself. I am sure when I next find myself in romantic trouble, I'll know precisely where to turn."

"Uh, Mold-o Grassy to you too." Calder said, a little unsure of the language but happy to learn. From learning sigh language with Chrsitof and having to learn kelpie text due to clan obligations, getting little words from Malodore wasn't bad at all.
"And whenever you need any help, I'll help ya. That's what that pin means. Just call, even for romantic advice though...don't get into too much detail if ya do." He tried to soften the face he was making at the idea of Malodore talking about Riley in any sexual way. "...I don't need to know what you and Riley do in the hay"

Malodore tilted its head to one side. "In the hay?" It sounded puzzled. "I've never done anything in hay. Sat on it, perhaps. Is this an insult in your culture?"

Calder looked at Malodore and watched him a moment. "No. Romping in the hay is when you get frisky. Ya know?" He hoped so. It was rather silly that a creature that was a Plague Doctor didn't get the implication of intimacy. Maybe he had to point it out from another doctor. "Like how Nurse Cricket pointed out, but without all the bad stuff. Being in love and showing it by getting close."
Then he considered one more thing.
"Hay isn't insulting. You should try sleeping in it. Very warm." A mound of hay and a nice blanket had been Calder's bed for his entire childhood aside from the times he slept in the river. He found it very comforting.

"Get... frisky?" Malodore blinked, but fortunately for Calder, the light dawned a moment later. "Ah, you mean intercourse. We do not engage in such, being creatures first and foremost of the mind."
That said, it moved on to pondering hay. "I suppose hay would be warm, though imagine it might get under my bandages and prickle, though. I don't have much skin, you know. It's very delicate."

Calder moved over if just to glance over Malodore once more and his bandages. "Oh. Didn't know. I guess that would be a problem. Hmm. You're missing out though. Can't say you'd do any better on a swamp bottom either with those bandages, but I guess a bed works." Calder didn't sleep in beds for the most part. They were peculiar, and he liked sleeping on grass or in his full bath tub. He only liked beds when he was too tired or he had company.
"And you don't gotta do it to get frisky. Just playing around. Nuzzlin. Kissin. Being close. All the stuff leading up to it. Uh..." Malodore had no skin. "Can I ask....how well can you touch?" He had to wonder with those hands.

"Oh, I have excellent fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination," Malodore said, with a hint of pride. "Plague doctor hands are most gifted in those areas. Ideal for surgery, you know."

"No.No.No.No.No. I don't mean the moving of your hands being good. I mean, uh, can you feel if something is hot and cold or soft or rough? What with the skin thing. Can you feel or sense things through the bandages or ..." He had to wonder because that seemed to take a bit of the fun of messing around. Then again, could you miss what you never had?

"My hands are exceedingly sensitive. I'd be a very poor surgeon without a finely honed sense of touch." It held out one hand, fingers spread. "The bloodmetal is as much a part of my body as... as any of Christof's limbs are for him. As for my, er, my flesh... well. Plague doctors don't really, ah. Touch each other. Very often. It's kind of a cultural taboo, I suppose."
