In this situation he was next to useless. With an injured leg and one arm it was impossible to try and catch his team mate, but it was possible to attempt to help Kyu if need be. "Kyu. Try catching her. I'll help out by trying to hold you up. " said the dark-skinned blonde as he watched Hatsuma begin to fall out of the air.

Kyu chuckled when the stumbling Notwen slid onto the shark's side of the ravine. All that was left was the lovely Hatsuma to make it over. Hatsuma took a running start, then wall-ran a third of the way across before she started to slip. She pushed off the wall, and began to drop.
Kyu felt like the world went into slow motion. Notwen spoke behind him, offering assistance. Before the boy could even finish his first sentence, he took hold of his hand, and launched himself to to the edge; one foot remained at the edge, and the other was outstretched over the abyss to give him a greater reach. Kyu's arm was outstretched to take hold of Hatsuma's. With intensity, he roared, "Grab on!"

Kyu's hand connected with the girls. Kyu pulled hard on both directions. With one arm, he pulled himself closer to Notwen, and with the other, he reeled in Hatsuma.

However, he felt himself start to lean in the direction of the gap. s**t, I need a boost! A veins on each of Kyu's temples expanded outward with an audible snap. Kyu kicked back his outstretched leg with new-found strength, and yanked the Suna-nin onto the safety of the landing with a thud.

Kyu stumbled backwards after letting go of her hand. The shark wiped the sweat from his brow. A hoot of fatigue escaped his lips, and with a laugh, he joked, "That first step's a doozy, huh?"

“I thank you for the assistance; the toxins seem to be affecting my chakra focusing…” Hatsuma explained as she clambered to her feet dusting herself from the near fall. A sound became rather clear in the distance though it was hard to make out at this distance she felt the need to comment upon it now. “I think I hear machinery ahead, can you two confirm the sound? I’d rather have you both say it’s there before jumping to any conclusions.” It was true, the toxins were affecting her chakra it could easily be affecting her senses as well, she would need confirmation of the sound but she was certain she could hear the familiar sound of gears, this meant some kind of mechanical obstacle lay ahead, though what it was for certain she was not sure. It was a safe bet that it was to be another terrain hindrance as they are harder to avoid than other obstacles that could have been used. Thankfully the loud sounds would conclude the trap was something large, which meant she might not have to worry about dodging sharp projectiles while in this foggy state and location. Another thing also came to her mind, the task she had been given, it was important to follow through with all objectives, after all that was the point of a mission. Pushing that aside for now she listened for what they thought the sound might be, if it was even there.

Kyu hadn't waited for Notwen to finish his statement before grabbing hold of his hand and reaching out to Hatsuma. The sudden weight threatened to overcome the crippled Uchiha, who had to half-hop to get better footing and support shark-boy and spider-girl with one leg.Is this guy forgetting i only have one arm?! wondered Notwen as he strained to keep holf of Kyu's hand. Thankfully the ordeal lasted about three seconds due to the Mist genin swinging Hatsuma over the edge. After they had recovered from the adrenaline rush and cleaned themselves from the aftermath of yet another dusty landing, Hatsuma began to voice that the ability to focus her chakra had been diminished due to the toxins. A few seconds later she said that she heard machinery as well. Notwen nodded in approval, but kept his senses sharp as strained to try and hear what Hatsuma claimed she had heard. At first there was no sound other than their breathing, but the more used to the silence of the cave the crippled Uchiha got, the clearer a certain sound became. It was mechanical in nature, with a distinct irregular piston-like sound. "I don't know what it is, but you're right Hatsuma. There's definitely some kind of machinery somewhere further on in the tunnel." He turned toward his team mates. "The longer we stay idle the more time we lose to get to our goal. If anything we should decide what to do while moving forward." With that said he began to hobble slowly towards wherever the machinery noise was coming from.

The veins on Kyu's temples retracted slowly, as his first two gates of chakra sealed back up. With each passing heartbeat, Kyu felt his body's state return back to normal levels. When the beating of his heart became silent and unnoticable again, Kyu still heart the clicking and thumping of a different sort of heart.
Hatsuma pointed out the sounds first, then Notwen confirmed the noises. The Uchiha began to walk towards the sound, and the sharky ninja followed suit. As they approached the next challenge, Kyu could hear many distinct sounds. Gears and chains clinked and clanked with a tinny chime. Many synchronized pistons hissed and squealed. Groaning below the tinnier sounds was the low, woody sound of a pendulum swinging back and forth.

"You know, I have the oddest feeling we're going to see some sort of marvel of ninja engineering." Kyu said thoughtfully. He continued to walk, and looked up ahead. The cave seemed to curve lightly in the darkness, and up ahead, it appeared to be lighter, "Looks like we might be in luck!" Kyu pointed at the lighter area of the cave, and picked up the pace, "Come on guys, let's see what's waiting around the bend."

Good she wasn’t alone in hearing the strange mechanical sounds ahead. “I agree we should see what we have to do before making any preemptive decisions, I will say this, I find you both to be reliable so I shall look forward to your input on resolving future situations…” Hatsuma explained as they walked along the gradually lightening area, it also began expanding a bit as well to a more open area of which seemed to be the mechanical source. Now in the opening she could make out the shifting panels that they would have to traverse in order to make it out of this portion of the exam. It was a clear feeling she had that they were near the end of their journey as this obstacle seemed to cover a large area. The panels moved randomly and wildly it would definitely be a near impossible task to clear this without getting pushed around by the machine floor. Looking around she began seeking out any clues that might make this task easier, there was certainly a lever at the other side that would likely shut down the mechanism all together. She began looking over the course for the best possible path that they could take to get through. she couldn't see anything that stood out however she felt that the task could be made easier somehow."I think there might be a trick to this we should thoroughly look it over before jumping into this task..." she commented to the others who were likely beside her now. Quote: Awareness check vs floor trick int(2) vs 350 175(2) vs 350 = 350 vs 350 = 0 = 50% vs 96 = fail

Quote: 270*2 + 180*2 + 50 (Aburame) = 950 vs 350 = 99% Success I swear to god. If I get a 100...Kyu nodded, "Indeed, there just has to be a trick to this thing. While it might be easier to some to just bypass the entire thing by jumping over it; I'm guessing there's a puzzle we're supposed to take part in." Kyu's eyes darted from object to object, scanning and scrutinizing every nook and cranny of the apparatus. The floor for the next thirty yards or so what made up of tiles. The tiles shifted quickly and restlessly. Every single tile had a symbol or a spell circle of some sort. Some were familiar to Kyu, he swore he saw an exploding seal on one, and a tracking tag on another. Kyu reasoned, "They have a ton of symbols and things on these tiles. Some of them I recognize, others I don't."
"However... If I remember right.... Look closely to the right. That one is an old symbol for Tiger, like the handseal. I've seen some more, one for each handseal. They stick out from the others because they aren't supposed to DO something, they represent something. If I had to guess, we're supposed to get ourselves onto one of those panels, then do the seal that it alludes to. There are quite a few to pick from, but I'd feel safest with the Tiger one. It's not too far away, maybe twenty feet or so, and I can see a pattern in its movements, so its slightly predictable."

"My secondary reason is because Tiger represents of the month of January. It might just be extra information, but in the event we're supposed to hit all twelve, Tiger would be the best place to start. What we're going to need to do is get over there quickly, and try especially hard not to screw up and trip. From there, we'll have to focus our chakra using the seal the tablet says. If I'm right, it will stop the movement of the tiles, and give us a chance to get across."

Quote: 127+40(Suzume Koumyaku) vs 200 46% - 10% = 36% Chance SuccessThe path seemed to be uneven. It would dip and rise at irregular intervals, something that made the trip slightly more difficult to Notwen. Navigating through the uneven corridor was the least of his problems. The path began to widen and the sound of machinery got louder. Kyu spoke his mind, saying that he had the feeling they were going to see some sort of marvel of ninja engineering. And he was right. The lighting increased just enough to make the next section of the exam more than visible. Apparently it was a section of panels that moved in no particular pattern. They were pushed out then pulled back in by pistons that were almost invisible due to the angle he was in. On some of these panels were images: spell circles, explosion tags, even the kanji for Bird, Dog, Dragon, and Snake. Attempting to go through this thing by running through it was nigh impossible, the panels were too unpredictable. Hatsuma brought up the notion that there was probably a simple way of passing through. Kyu agreed, inspecting the challenge ahead with scrutiny. He found that there was a tiger kanji on the right side, a place Notwen had not really been looking at in much detail. After Kyu's explanation Notwen nodded. "I'll attempt to go for it. " The dark-skinned blonde studied the pattern in which the tiles that were in his way moved and the timing before he took a hopping start and released a fire stream from the sole of his foot. He hit the panel next to the one with the Tiger seal without much problem.

The dark-skinned blonde quickly fixed the seal and began to channel his chakra into the panel. At first nothing happened, but then a change came over the first half of the panels in the tunnel. The churning of the machinery inside of the walls began to slow down and bring the panels to a halt. Soon they were quiet and unmoving. Notwen couldn't believe his eyes. He had actually done it. "I knocked out the first half of the panels. "

"Good work, this makes the next step even easier..." Hatsuma explained content with the success of her comrade. looking over the course that was now at half its original fury she wondered if the hand seal trick was even necessary at this point. "I'm going for the lever, if I don't make it than try to get this machine stopped with the seals..." Hatsuma commented before moving along towards the still moving panels. Stepping into the fray she felt a familiar sensation with these panels, they reminded her of the shifting sands other home land. navigate these would be as simple as following the flow of the panels and not forcing against them. analyzing it she found the swerving path to her goal, not a path most would be willing to take since the general idea was to go in a straight line as much as possible. diving around she began the fluid movements needed to navigate the labyrinths of moving panels. effortlessly she moved between the panels until she landed on the other side with a light thump of her feet. Without wasting time she walked over to the lever and pulled it causing the mechanism to shut down entirely. looking back to her team she was content with the decision she would make at the end. "our goal is close I am sure, let us finish this task now..." she stated loudly so the two would hear, the quiet area was a change from the previous grinding and churning of machinery. They were nearly done with their task and then they would move onto the final portion of the exams. She decided against the orders she had been given as in the long run these two individuals would prove useful as well as be good allies for her country should the need arise. Kyu clapped loudly from his end of the room, "Good job, Hatsuma. Here I was expecting this thing to be a lot more time consuming." Kyu stepped down onto the silent, motionless floor and began to walk across. He laughed to himself, and joked out loud, "I'm not totally sure if that is how it was supposed to be done, but it works, right?"
As Kyu reached the midpoint of the floor, and his vision began to waver. For a split second, his eyesight faded, and he tripped over himself. He stumbled, but regained his balance before hitting the floor. Damnit, the gas is starting to take effect! I usually have a pretty good composure when it comes to pain and poison, but this stuff is definitely potent. We have to pick up the pace.

The man sped up to a light jog, and called up ahead again, this time his voice was a bit more serious and had an air of worry to it, "However, it isn't a time to let our guards down. There's likely to be another challenge ahead, and I'd like to bet its the worst one yet. For the first time since we started, I felt the poison's effect. The toxin's effect is only going to get worse if we don't pick up the pace."

The genin jogged past Hatsuma, and to the mouth of the next cave, "Come on, lets speed this up so we can get our antidote and get the heck out of this place."

Notwen turned and saw that Hatsuma was now making her way toward him and the side with the still moving panels. Then she jumped into the mess of moving panels, ducking and weaving through them with relative ease before landing on the other side with no scratches. Finally she walked over to the switch on the wall and turned it off, shutting down the second half of the panels. From the end of the tunnel from which they came from the crippled Uchiha heard Kyu praise Hatsuma's feat.If it wasn't for me shutting down the first half of the panels she wouldn't have gotten anywhere. thought Notwen, a little disheartened by the fact that his achievements were ignored. Then again it was a mission so the dark-skinned blonde got over it and hopped over to the other side. Once there he smiled at Hatsuma saying, "Good work Hatsuma. I hadn't thought of that maneuver at all. " It was then that he noticed Kyu almost trip near the center of the panels. Damn... The poisons are getting to him too... The shark-boy sped up to a jog after recovering and called up ahead, saying that it wasn't time to let their guards down. He voiced the opinion that there might yet be another trial ahead and also admitted to feeling the poison's effects. Notwen nodded in approval to the plan to get moving. The last thing he wanted was to fall victim to the poisons at this point in the exam. Notwen hopped into the next cave at a controlled pace, keeping his Crown Chakra active in order to see what was ahead for the next twenty feet so nothing would surprise him. After several minutes of walking it became apparent that nothing was ahead of them. No pitfalls, no sound of machinery. Only the sound of their footsteps echoing back from the depths of the cave and the constant, almost undetectable hiss of the poison gas could be heard. Notwen began to hum a song that General Rai Oh had introduced to him as part of his training regimen. Its effect to boost up his energy and morale were more than enough to carry him on into the next area, whatever it was. After a few minutes the cave began to widen until the group came to what appeared to be a dead end. Notwen's eyes widened as he saw that what was ahead of them was a rock wall.Don't panic, N. he reassured himself. Fear is the mind-killer. There has to be some catch to this. Just then the proctor from before spoke over the public address system. "Congratulations on making it this far... but your trail is not over. I am sure you have not forgotten what was written on the scroll given to you back at the first exam. " A dull rumble could be felt underneath Notwen's feet. He looked at the wall, which started to crack at the bottom and split apart. At first he wasn't sure if his eyes were playing tricks on him, but after a few seconds Notwen was sure that what he was seeing was light. If it was sunlight he wasn't sure, but it was good to see it. "Beyond this wall lays the vials that will either damn you to death or carry you back to good health. There is no trick to these vials in any sense, they are all placed on the shelf of what they are meant to do... The task here, however, is to decide amongst the lot of you one person who will enter this room and retrieve these vials. You must place your lives into one of the hands of your team mates and trust that they will reward your trust... Can you do that? " Notwen sighed. It seemed that the final test was one of trusting your comrades with your life. He looked at Kyu then to Hatsuma. "This is it guys. I guess that we have to come to a consensus on who's going into that room. Who do you guys think should go? " asked the dark-skinned blonde. The faster they came to an agreement the faster they exam would end.
