"Oh heavens," Camelot said, watching her as she cried, moving to help her wipe her tears away. He kneeled in front of her, watching her with a worried expression that might seem vaguely familiar to her. He often looked at her in a similar way whenever she was having trouble at the library.
He couldn't help but worry about her, and not want to see her cry.
"Don't worry," he said at length, though he could only vaguely put together what she was saying. Something about her legs, and being unable to run away because of it. He assumed fear had crippled her, in its way, and she was embarrassed.
"Come on, let's get you home, okay? I'll walk with you, and keep you safe. You'll be alright, Yvette."

All of those rules that the girl had learned as a child about not talking to strangers were tossed out the figurative window. It probably had something to do with the fact he had just saved her life. Of course, she wasn't really doing much talking at the moment, thanks to the waterworks. However, she sniffled and rubbed at her eyes, as if trying to concentrate all of her efforts to stop the tears.
And eventually her efforts paid off. Sure, her face was now red all across the bridge of her nose, but the water had stopped. With one more cautious rub to her eyes, she seemed to finally focus in on what he was saying.
"uh... um... h-how do you know my name?" Did she say it at some point while that monster was attacking? She honestly couldn't remember if she had said something like that, even though it had happened only moments before. Panic and terror had a way of manipulating what she remembered, and yet again, she had doubt in what she had done.

Foiled again.
This was not the first time Camelot's concern for someone he knew got him in trouble. He floundered for a reasonable explanation. It wasn't like he could just make her think she had told him, and just forgot. While that might have worked on an older person, he doubted someone her age would fall for it.
That didn't seem to stop him from trying.
"Ah, you mentioned it when I first arrived. It was... uh... a little chaotic..."
There was no way she was going to believe that. He was certain she would call him on it and he would have blown his cover yet again. He really had to be more careful. He had a little leeway with senshi and other knights, but civilians were a toss up.
He forced a calm smile.
"Come on, let's get you somewhere safe. Were you heading home?"
The last thing he wanted to do was abandon her to another youma finding her, or more scary things happening. There were human dangers, as well. she had a tough enough night already, and being menaced on the bus was just not acceptable.

Her own nagging self doubt combined with the man's words managed to somehow convince the girl that she had indeed given up her name early on. She couldn't remember it so well, but she nodded slightly as the man gave her the explanation. It made sense now. Sort of.
"Um... I was waiting for the bus... so I could get home... Iwouldn'tbesurprisedifthebusskippedthisstopthankstothemonster..." It was obvious the Yvette wasn't in the know. She didn't even know the right terminology for the monsters.
Despite all the prompts to get going, the girl didn't seem to move at all. "Home is too far to walk..." There were reasons why she took the bus.
For a brief moment, her eyes shyly seemed to look over his outfit again, now that she had time to truly look it over. "...um... did you come from a Renaissance Fair or something...?"

Camelot blinked. He often got that question. "No, not a Ren... well. Yes. Let's go with that, then. I am still in costume. The knight thing... kind of goes to the head."
He didn't want Yvette to walk home, but he couldn't very well give her a ride in his car. That might look odd, a knight driving a car, and he would give himself away if she recognized the vehicle anyway.
But he felt bad. If she had missed her bus...
he knew he had to be more careful about his identity. He also didn't want to freak her out by powering down and making her brain explode, or something. It would be better for her to be innocent in all this, and not get directly tied into the fighting, just knowing he was involved. Of course, he didn't know if she already knew someone else in the fight.
"How about I call you a cab? I'll pay for it. It will get you home, and you won't have to wait for another bus." Or another youma. He could go find a phone, power down to get his money, then power back up without her spotting him.

Though Yvette didn't say anything, she noticed that momentary "No, not a Ren...well." Then he changed his answer to confirming what she thought. It meant he was lying to her. Most likely. Probably. There was the chance he might have meant the "No" in a fashion of "well, it goes by a completely different name," but that was not the vibe she was getting from him. Despite the small amount of doubt she had in her savior, it wasn't like she was going to call him out on anything. She didn't really have any proof to begin with.
His kind offer, however, managed to catch her by surprise. And being the sort of girl she was, she couldn't help but fluster a bit. "...but... um... youdon'thavetodothat... r-really..." Of course, she wasn't very convincing. Just kind of quiet, kind of muffled, and kind of embarrassed for no real reason at all.

Camelot smiled at her, shaking his head as he often did at the library. He patted her lightly on the arm to reassure her.
"Stay here, okay?"
He didn't think she'd go running off into the night, but if she was that scared then who knew? He moved off anyway, carefully, looking around for the nearest phone. He powered down once he was out of sight, pulling out his money as he had planned and making the call to the cabbies. Then he returned moved to return to Yvette, wondering why he hadn't just run off, powered down, and 'accidentally found her' as Tony.
Ah well, he was still developing his style of rescue. The only thing he really knew and tried to do was make sure the people he saved got home safely: his job didn't end just when the youma or nega was gone. He had a duty to make sure nothing else happened to them.
"Here you go, and don't say no," he said, offering her the money, "the cab will be here shortly, then you can tell him where you want to go, okay? I just want to make sure you get home safely. It's been a very long night."

"um... kay..." Certainly, Yvette didn't know why she should stay there. In fact, why was she listening to this stranger in the first place? Certainly, there was indeed some sort of fatherly qualities to him (though nobody would ever replace Daddy, no matter how fatherly). The fact still remained though. This man was a stranger. He had saved her from a monster, but he was still a stranger.
And now she was expected to take the money of a stranger?
Oh god, now she felt icky. Super icky. Taking a stranger's money?! She had heard of charity before, and this was probably charity, but it just felt absolutely wronger than wrong to take money from someone she didn't know the name of.
So when the man came back and put the money in her little hands, she had a hard time curling her fingers around the wadded up dollar bills.
"...uh... um..." She swallowed a small lump that had grown in the back of her throat from all of this internal worrying. "...canyoutellmeyournamesoIknowwhotothank?"

Camelot smiled at her.
He kneeled in front of her, looking at her with a reassuring, calm expression on his face. His green eyes explored her uncertain expression and he nodded his head slowly.
"My name is Camelot. It might seem strange to you, but I defend this city, and those that live here. You know me better than you think, but I just can't tell you who I really am. Just know that if you're ever in trouble and need help, I'll protect you."
He wanted to tell her he was just a simple librarian and she had known him for a long while, but now he couldn't do it. It wouldn't just be about protecting his own identity. The more she knew, the more danger she would find herself in. Even if she didn't want it. He couldn't risk that, and he wouldn't.
She was one of the few honestly innocent people left. Or so he truly believed. He never really considered the idea that maybe she had her own secret identity. That she could even be a negaverse soldier, and he would never know.

Since when did Renaissance Fair actors protect the city? Or go by names like Camelot? And since when did people kneel in front of such a stupid girl as Yvette?! This wasn't a marriage proposal, she knew that, but it felt just as embarrassing as one. Her eyes rather quickly darted away from the man, finding comfort in staring at her own shoes.
Yup, she had black shoes.
"Um... thank you... Mr. Camelot... um..." she said shyly as one of her shoes seemed to twist slightly at the ball of the foot from one side to the other. What else could she say? She didn't really get any of this. She knew this man better than she thought? What was that supposed to mean?

Camelot smiled, knowing she had to be so baffled, and he really wasn't helping by feeding her partial bits of information and ruining his own cover. Still, he couldn't help it, and he wanted her to know that no youma would get her while he was on watch.
Lights appeared in the street and a cap pulled close.
"Stay safe," he said to her quickly, moving away from her and skittering to a near building. He jumped at it, grabbing onto the awning and then hauling himself up toward the roof. He disappeared over the lip of the building and then, keeping low so he couldn't be seen, leaped away.
of course, he could be seen rather well, but he tried. In any case, he got far enough away that he could double back just to make sure she had gotten into the cab and wasn't trying to walk home and get herself attacked again.
Then he'd start heading back for his own house.

Yvette hadn't expected to make Mr. Camelot to run away. However, she has somehow made him run away. When she went to follow with her eyes where he had run, she found a building in the way.
Where had he gone? She rubbed her eyes, thinking her mind was playing tricks on her or something (and not realizing he could jump strange new heights). However, with the dollar bills in her hand were proof enough that the encounter with this strange man had indeed been real.
"Hey, sweetheart! Anybody else riding?" the voice came from the cab.
Startled back into reality, the girl squeaked slightly before letting herself into the backseats of the taxi. She shook her head once seated.
"Well then, where are ya lookin' t'go?"
Shyly, she scooted forward and cupped her hands about her mouth and placed it near the driver's ear. He had the radio up too loud for him to be able to hear her voice. With that strange way of giving him an address, the vehicle was soon enough on its way to her home.
