"Yes please," she nodded as the stallion offered her a dish of the Melomel. She took a small sip, the taste was sweet and rather unique, "This is wonderful," she sipped again before turning her attention back to the converstaion.
"It sounds as though you have been a great attribute to the sisters, I commend your work Taarab." it was not often that the oracle doled out compliments on males, but this one seemed well deserved for the amount of time and effort he put forth serving the Flock.
She knew that many of the sisters had started taking breeding partners of the non clawed variety. With nearly the entire male population exhausted due to famine or during the move, there were not many proper breeders left. She found herself curious of the make due talons the stallion spoke of. "Tell me, these ... attachments you make, are they functional in the hunt or more to help the sisters feel as though they belong?" She could see and understand some sisters wearing these adornments in order to feel more like the rest of the flock.
She paused, taking another sip from her dish. "Do have yourself some if you wish, we are not so formal here... as you can see." She did offer a sharp look quickly, "Though outside of these visits, you will be treated no differently..."

"Of course, Oracle.. The one situation alone is a great honor as it is, I would never expect this sort of thing to become standard." The makings of pride and the warmth of being appreciated radiated in the Stallions chest at the Oracles praise, making him smile bashfully and fidget a bit as he poured the queen a dish as well, and tentatively one for himself, "They're designed specifically to be weapons -- Hence why I do not make them for clawless stallions."
He popped the lid back into the jug and took a sip of the melomel, and nibbled some of the pork, "They are custom made to the mare, using bone or metal depending on their style. They remain close to the lower part of the hoof, tilted upwards. It keeps the points and edges off of the ground where they would dull, but still allows them to slash at prey. Sadly, it does not gift them access to the trees or superior speeds in the forests we call home of those gifted by the spirits.."
"Ah..." He looked around and stood, returning to his pack and taking out a bit of charcoal and a leather that wasn't good enough for producing accessories, returning to sit somewhat closer to Aylin as he did a rough sketch of two hooves, "I have two styles, depending on the material used and the style of attack preferred by the mistress.. This style..." smears of charcoal between his talons formed two large claws at either side of the hoof, then made small spikes along the front of a strap, "Is made usually of bone, though sometimes chipped stones and natural glasses, or made with metals depending on the strength. Most often used as a manor to practice. You slash like this.." He coiled his other foot up to make a 'hoof' with his knuckles, and pawed at the air, "And it slices open the prey. And sometimes.."
He sketched the gauntlets upwards to about the knee, "I add a thick padded armor here to protect the legs.. The OTHER style is almost exclusively metal..." sketching roughly on the second hoof he had made, three claws formed the front of the hooves, tipped slightly upright, "There's padded leathers underneath. This one is more natural, but less comfortable when you strike, stiffer and less organic, as well as heavier than the bone claws."

She took a few sips of drink while Taarab sketched out and explained his designs. The designs were well thought out, she would like to see them in action one day.
"On my next visit to the Sisters, I should like to see these creations. I will travel with them on the hunt." she bobbed her head slightly.
She took a moment, pulling a hind leg from the slaughtered animal. The meat was still warm, the way Aylin preferred. She reached over, dipping the leg in the rich red liquid that had been drained from the animal.
She took a look around her crumbling temple and the trinkets and treasures that she had gathered over the years since the absense of the Flock. The trinkets were gathered depending on items that held the abilities to aide her in communicating with the spirits...protecting her health....the health of her sisters. The trinkets, as anything though, had begun to degrade over time.
"Taarab, do you suppose you could offer your services to help me repair my talismans?" she leaned over, carefully removing a charm from a nearby vine. The sting was wearing and the charm tainted with dirt and age. "This one... this was collected from a traveler... Tis made of jade, said to help improve wisdom, to help help provide one with the ability to be self sufficient...." She held the talisman out to Taarab. "I have many here."

Carefully taking the Jade Talisman, Taarab made a soft tsking noise as he thought, gently moving it around in his talons, sharp eyes moving over it as he fingered the string with the tips of his claws, softly felt the workmanship with the soft pads of his fingers. He bit his lip, thinking a bit, "This should be easily enough. Mostly it needs cleaning and a bit of fresh stinging -- the current one is so old that it stiff and brittle -- it might have snapped any time and broken the soft stone pendant."
He set it down gently, nipping a bit more meat for himself before moving back to his pack and pulling out some of his supplies, and held some of the woven fabrics out, weighing color symbolism to color schemes, "Hmmn.. I think once I get it clean, it should have red ribbon, for energy and strength, and to represent life, to aide in its powers... Jade is a soft stone, so I'll have to be careful with it, but it should be simple enough to recover to its former glory."

She was pleased to see that the stallion had knowledge of the magical abilities of stone and color, a smile crossed her face as she watched him handling the object delicatly.
Before speaking, she finished her meal and took the last few sips of her drink. Satisfied, shifted her position to one more relaxed to one side.
"Many will be traveling back with Aviania and yourself as I collect these treasures for my sisters... But some remain as protection to our blessed home of days past."
She gazed up at the charms and trinkets that hung here and there from her home. The drink that had been provided had started to relax her muscles, it was a peaceful feeling that aided her mind.
"You are too young to remember, but this temple use to be glorious, Taarab...." she closed her eyes, she could remember days in her youth... she and Aviania had played as foals on the temple grounds, watched over by the Oracle past. "Desolate it is now..."

"Protection.. Hmn. That'd require a light or bright blue... Though a Deep blue or indigo in areas would help enhance visions of the mind, Intuition..." Taarab's mind was clicking colors into pieces, looking around the temple and analyzing, eyes bright and sharp as he tried to imagine ways to bring the temple perhaps to its former glory, and use his trade to help the oracle best he could. Chemicals from herbs, fruits, and rocks started clicking together, forming colors, "I Have plenty of white fabrics with me.... With the right materials I could dye them to drape across the walls, paint them with symbols, line them with charms.. Purples, blues, and Indigo would likely work best, for protection and opening up the eyes to visions beyond this world, with a few red accents for power, energy and long life... Green doesn't really go with the colorscheme that much, but I'm sure I could figure out a way to include it for the powers of renewal.. But the vines themselves might work well enough."
Blinking, the pale stallion realized he was rambling and dipped his head in embarrassment, the pale fur of his muzzle flushing a slight pink, "I apologize, Oracle, for rambling. While a simple stallion as myself, born after the great move, can only dream of what the land and the temple was like before it, I wish, if it is at all possible, to at least help. Mother always said I was an eager, even as a colt, to be useful."

She smiled and just nodded slightly as Taarab continued to talk. She sat there for a moment thinking of how the stallion could help. "I do believe your visit here will be longer than just overnight, Taarab." She laughed softly.
She shifted her weight to the other side, getting a bit stiff as she sat. "Your mother had a keen eye. But we can always use the useful stallions. I much prefer those than the ones that are just used to breed. Nearly a waste...."
Taking a moment to look away, she looked to Aviania. "My dear, I'm afraid I must take my leave for the night." she nuzzled her friend's shoulder. "We will discuss more in the morning."
She turned to look back at Taarab, "If Aviania has no plans plans for you, I would like your company for the night, Taarab."

She watched silently as the two interacted, listening to their conversation without finding the need to add anything; Taarab was certainly the right stallion to bring along for the trip... She couldn't help smirking at the thought as she ate, although she did look up when she heard her friend mention her name.
"Plans?" She echoed before chuckling, a grin spreading across her maw, "The only plan I had for him was for him to spend the night with you, darling~" She had hinted on it earlier on, after all.

Nodding, Taarab stood slowly, stretching out kinks from having gone still after a couple weeks of travel, thankful for the bit of the mead he had been allowed, and smiled warmly as he moved to walk along side the Oracle, if a step or two behind her lead. He chuckled, dipping his head in a bow to the queen before returning his attentions to Aylin, "The Queen seems to have, in her wisdom, planned for this.."

Aylin stood, lowered her head slightly to nibble on Aviania's mane. "We will see you in morning's light. I'm off to prod the mind of your stallion of choice." She turned and motioned for Taarab to follow her. She normally bedded down further back in the temple. Easier to hide in the dark in case an intruder came in the dark. She had more questions for the stallion, but she wasn't sure how much longer she could keep her mind awake. If nothing else, it would be nice just to have another warm body to lay against for a change. (Fin post) Storyline continues here
