It cheered her somewhat to hear he was still able to see his mother and sister. How useful wings were, it seemed! Travel as far as you'd like.... then just fly on back. Of course, put her in water, and she felt she could travel forever. Till she got tired out and her muscles refused to push her any further... but that was another topic entirely. "...glad you can see them... they must like it, too..." Or so she would hope. It did not seem to her like he came from a family that ignored or showed disinterest in his comings and goings, at least.
Nicor felt a little twinge of guilt for her behavior, as shown by how she continued to keep her head low. She meant him no harm or ill will - quite the opposite, in fact. But her eyes closed briefly, a long breath leaving her body in silent agreement to his words. Not so good indeed... may he just never find out how not good they were. In a mixture of shock and intrigue, her head lifted somewhat as he spoke about his father. "...happy he changed, then," came her soft words, somewhat amazed to hear about such a shift. What had his father been like before? What was he like now, even..?
A part of her was heavily tempted to question such things, but a cry of a crow caught her attention, movement in the water stilling her. A figure moved, slowly, curiously - watching. "...not safe..." Nicor cast a renewed snarl towards the being in the water, already quite aware of the differences in hunting styles between her mother and grandfather. Looking back to the colt, her face fell. Only trouble would come if he stayed longer. "...fly fast... I'm sorry... bye, Cori."
She backed more into the water, keeping her eyes on him a moment longer before giving a flicker of a final smile. Whirling, she dove below the surface, hissing at the large male that lurked a ways away, darting past him and deep into the murk in her sudden frustration with her kin. It was cruel to watch her as they did, crueler still to see outsiders who stumbled in as prey. But the male followed her, at least, if only out of annoyance for the small slash across his shoulder from her tail. A game, oddly enough. Enough to distract her from wondering if she'd be able to encounter the colt again.
Silly though, surely. With all his traveling, why would he come back to a place like this? He seemed far too kind for the world of this place...

Coridan understood the danger well enough that Nicor was warning him of and, though sad he could not tell his new friend good-by, he took to the skies to get far away from whatever she was protecting him from. He would come back one day, he promised her and himself silently. One day when he was bigger, he'd come back.
