As she started to read it out, Shun sat by, listening carefully. At the pause, he looked back up and Mitsu and shook his head.
"You're doing fine," he reassured before mumbling, "...Thanks for this... by the way."
It was still a little hard for him to get over the fact that he was accepting help for this. It made him a little antsy really.
"..Maybe you should take a break. You have your own things to study after all."

That faint smile showed up again as Mitsu gave a nod. "Y-you're welcome." He seemed a little on edge though. She wasn't sure if it was his posture, the look in his eyes, or that general feeling she could sense radiating off him, but he didn't see completely comfortable.
"I...is there something wrong?" She asked her head tilting a little. Maybe she was reading a little weird if he was ready to take a break. Looking to the book she tried to keep in mind where she had left off. "I..if you want a break I can stop for a little while. I only have a few things to work on." .....yeah...all those books were only a 'few' things.

At the mention of a few things, Shun turned and looked at the pile of books she had brought with her. For a 'few' things, that sure looked like a months or more worth of putting off.
"..Something about taking help just doesn't sit right with me," he murmured lowly. This wasn't the same as working on a project together or some other activity that required a team. Even those, he didn't particularly enjoy. But here.. he was just receiving aid.
"Go ahead and do your own work for now."

"T..There's nothing wrong with getting help. Besides I offered." It wasn't like he had come seeking the help, no doubt he would continue to deal with this problem in silence if she hadn't offered. Something about that just didn't sit well with Mitsu. She wasn't sure why, maybe it was because she felt close to someone for the first time in a really long time and genuinely wanted to help. If she could she wanted to ease his troubles like he and Lizzy were slowly helping to ease hers.
Giving a short nod Mitsu pushed his spell book aside leaving it open on the page she had left off on and grabbed one of her own books and a notepad. She apparently had a plan in mind because she flipped to a page opened the notebook and began writing.
"M..my brother didn't like to receive help either." She finally said after the silence. "He was blind." It was so strange to talk about her brother, she hadn't spoken about him with anyone since he had disappeared. "He was much more vocal about it though." Her smile was a little sad remembering the time when he was around. "D...do you have any siblings?" She asked, while she was on the topic. Though if she had to guess she would say Shun was an only child.

For a moment or so, Shun didn't answer to the bit on help, and just listened as she mentioned her brother. Mitsu didn't speak too much of the guy, most likely due to the fact that he wasn't around any longer. When she did, he noticed she always seemed a little sad when doing so.
"I've none," he replied, "I pretty much just grew up with my father around."
The look on his face when mentioning the old man was not one of sadness or happiness. In fact, he looked a little displeased to think about him.
"I was pretty much taught to not ask for aid."

Mitsu had been right in her assumption though she had no idea he only lived with his father. That was something new to learn though by the look on his face it didn't look like Shun held him in very high regard. She wanted to say that it was good to have some sort of family around but she wasn't sure she could say it without sounding like she felt sorry for herself....so she refrained.
"Y..you don't mind me helping you, do you?" She asked, her eyebrows knitting together as she looked up toward him. "I...I just want to help I don't want to be a bother." Maybe she had been too pushy about helping but the thought that she would get to spend time with someone after school, even if it was for studying, had been rather exciting. It was so different than knowing she was going to go back to her dorm to study alone. While she had Milo, the little boafox only contributed so much to a conversation. She basically carried a one sided conversation to the point she thought she had gone mad.

Again, the Reaper hadn't replied right away as he had to think about his answer there.
"No," he said after the pause, "I guess it can't hurt. I just... need to get used to it I guess. Just as long as it isn't a burden to you. I can't imagine needing to read to someone with issues is the greatest thing in the world."
Another bit of silence fell before he stood up, looking down at the wolf girl, "By the way.. is there something you want to eat or drink?"

Mitsu nodded. It was something she was going to have to get used to as well. In a sense. "It's not a bother. I used to read to my brother a lot. I kind of miss it." He was thirsty for knowledge and tales but hadn't quite mastered the ability to read by touch. He wasn't very fond of the audio books, which Mitsu had found out, which is why she had started to read to him. It gave her a chance to share the story with someone. There had been a bit of a struggle at first over it, much like how Shun was having trouble excepting her help, but in the end her brother seemed to enjoy their 'story time' together.
"Uh...something to drink would be nice." She nodded. "I can finish my notes and we can read more from your book." Spells, enchantments, and hexes were something the monster race generally feared or had no interest in understanding. Mostly they were weak against it but she found the things she had read so far rather fascinating. It was a shame she couldn't do magic herself.

Nodding quietly, he moved on over towards his drawer to get some cups. Once he had them, he paused and glanced back towards Mitsu.
"You want water, coffee, or tea?" he asked. For the latter, he just had the instant stuff due to the convenience, but it would still take a little longer to make than just plain water. A part of Shun had to wonder how the girl felt about the magic she was reading about with his schoolwork. Monsters weren't capable of wielding FEAR like reapers were as far as he knew, so he had to think that the concept was a tad foreign for her.

"Water is fine," She didn't want something that would take time to make when water could just as easily quench her thirst. Not to mention she would probably be a little wired after the caffeine. Shun probably wouldn't want to deal with that.
As she looked back at her own book Mitsu continued taking notes on the chapter she was reading. It looked like she had a pretty good mind for note taking, keeping everything neat, tidy, and easy to read. It also didn't take her long to finish, closing the book shortly after and setting it aside. By this time she already had a good page and a half of notes written out in fine details on the highlights that she had read.
"You ready for me to read a little more?" She asked scooting the spells, hexes, and charms book back in front of her. Again she read over what she had read to him before. This is basic level stuff....to someone who knew magic. Channeling your FEAR into a spell or something like that seemed impossible to her, but the ability was very real. "D-do you already know some spells?" Mitsu asked curiously, looking up from the book.

Filling both cups with water, Shun made his way back and handed Mitsu one of the two mugs while sipping from his own. He went ahead and sat down as well.
"Yeah I guess..." he mumbled before getting comfortable again so that he could start listening to the girl reading his book once more. The reaper was keeping whatever mental notes he could, but then looked up as she paused from the reading.
"Not really..." he murmured, "At least not yet. A majority of my training so far has been more physical."
The magical part wasn't completely neglected, but it had been more of a supplement rather than being the core.

Gratefully taking the cup Mitsu took a sip before setting it aside. "Thank you."
"I wonder what it's like, it seems interesting," She said looking the book over again. "It makes it sound so easy like it would be possible for anyone." It was kind of disappointing that it wasn't. Mitsu knew no matter how many of these books she could read she would never be able to do anything within them. Even if she understood what needed to be done.
Reading a bit more it didn't take Mitsu long to finish the chapter. When she was finally done she looked up at the reaper to see how he was doing. "Do you need me to read over anything again?" Mitsu had a pretty good memory with things, she could probably tell him and not have to look up the passage he needed read if he needed anything repeated.

"It's.. kind of hard to explain," he murmured. Maybe after a little more use he'd be able to pinpoint what it was like, but for now that was a little lost on him. Once more, Shun sat by and listened to what she read, silently keeping mental notes on this or that. At her question, he hesitated.
"No. Not really at least," he finally answered after thinking about it, "...Thanks."
Though he was still not used to this, he didn't feel quite as antsy as he did earlier on. There was still a little bit of it there, but he was ignoring it for the most part.

Mitsu gave a slight nod closing the book and handing it back to Shun. "You're welcome."
Looking over to her other things Mitsu figured she could work a little more on her homework before they moved onto something else Shun needed done. Pulling another one of her books free from the pile Mitsu cracked it open to the page she had mark and set it in front of her. Before she got started though she picked up her mug to have another sip of water.
"I..I forgot to ask. Did you join any of the clubs we saw at open house?" She had braved up and had written her name down on the fitness club roster. There was also another club another student was trying to start up, a music club! Mitsu was very interested in that despite her nervousness to play in front of others....she was just leery about the parties he kept talking about.

Taking a sip of his own drink, Shun looked at the little stack of other things he needed to do. What a bother. Even without the reading or writing bits, assignments just seemed more along the menial side to him. It was better to learn things on the go or in the field, he believed. Or at least to do things in actual practice rather than just learning about something. That was just how he felt.
"Just the fitness club," he replied while looking back towards Mitsu. He was going to need to find some other clubs most likely, but nothing else really stood out to him as something he really wanted to do. Of the club booths he had seen at the open house, the one he ended up joining really was the only one that seemed to work for him.
"What of you?"
