"Who knows," Calci said with a slugma version of a shrug. He really didn't talk about himself much, and she didn't want to ask him too many questions in an attempt to be polite.
"I don't really have to 'go' anywhere. I just don't want to take away valuable swimming time. I mean, is it hard to talk and swim, or is it more like talking and walking?"

“Yeah…who knows…” Lexi echoed back to the slugma. She hadn’t really thought of it before, but now that she did, the uncertainty of what the future may bring worried her. The lack of answers from her new friend didn’t help in the least. Not that she would expect her to be able to answer them. Likely, time would be the only means of answering.
Lexi couldn’t help but giggle slightly as she replied, “Well, I’m not really swimming so much as standing in the water right now. It isn’t that deep.”
