"Miso ? Ah, that's Japanese, isn't it ?" He remarked. "I don't think I've ever tried it..." His mother wasn't a fan of japanese cuisine, and he hadn't gone out of his way in Destiny City to try it.
"So put that in boiling water ?" He looked at the powder for a bit, then went out to fetch a kettle.

She nodded. "My mother's really likes it, she always used to make it for me when I was sick." She followed him cautiously and added. "If you have mugs, its a very easy way to serve it, we can just pour it in the bottom and stir..."

"I have some..." After getting the kettle, filling it with water, and plugging it in, Daniel went in search for mugs. Unlike some of his classmates who pretty much lived on paper dishes and plastic cutlery, Daniel's mother had made sure her son had been very, very well equiped with everything he might need (and even some things he didn't) by the time he graduated from Azure and expressed the desire to not dorm anymore.
He liked apartment life, really. No imposed roommates. He had his fair share of disasters on that...
But now wasn't the time - he pulled two mugs out of a cupboard, thinking there was probably enough for the two of them.

She smiled and opened the pack, dividing the contents as easily as she could between the two mugs, she made sure though to slant some more of the little miso cubes and seaweed to his though becuase HE was the one feeling under the weather.
"All set!" She said cheerfully."Is there anything you would like me to take care of?" She added carefully.

Either Daniel had not spotted the blatant favoritism in his favor, or he said nothing about it. It was probably the former, however.
"That should be good !" When the water did boil, he filled the two cups with water then placed them on the table, pulling out a chair for her to sit.
The reading session would have to wait after soup, actually - he put one hand on the book, through, regarding it fondly before looking back at her. He didn't catch himself, but he regarded her with obvious fondness, as well. "Funny you went for this one." He smiled. "This was one of the first books I ever got - my mother used to read it to me before I feel asleep. Sometimes it was my father, when he wasn't busy with work..."

"That's so sweet!" She said sounding wistful. She blinked up and caught the soft fondness in his eyes and did nothing to hide her own fondness in return, at least for a moment before she tipped her head down ladylike, at least in her estimation, and modest. "I think it's wonderful to have such traditions..." She said and let her fondness widen into a smile.

"My parents read to me every night, when I was tiny." He nodded, cheeks reddening a bit. The way she'd just looked at him... No, he must just have imagined it.
"Then my mother started performing again... But I was old enough to read to myself, by then." He said with a smile. Come to think of it, that show poster on his wall just there... The woman had the exact same hair shade as Daniel, but startling blue eyes...
He blew on his cup and took a sip. "That tastes very good !"

"Goodness..." She said in awe as she gazed at the picture, clearly she needed to pay more attention to show's with knowing that his mother might be in them. "I'm afraid I don't see many but... she is beautiful!"
She gave him another warm look and beamed that he liked the soup. "I'm so glad! It's not for everyone, but neither is tomato, I thought Miso seemed safest!"

"She does opera sometimes." He figured that the link wasn't that hard to make - he had always resembled his mother, with his paternal uncle's eyes. No one ever said he resembled his father, for good reason - his father's albinism made that quite hard, indeed. "And plays violin. Im... nowhere as good as she is, through. I should have you listen, sometimes..."
"Ah, well, im not all that much of a fan of tomato soup..." He laughed. Looked like Ume made the right choice ! "Only soups, through. I like them as they normally are... It's a bit odd.
Oh god, he was boring her, wasn't he ? What was he thinking, rambling about things like that ??? Aaaaaaaaahhh...

She laughed and shook her head. "I like them in sauces and soups, but I shudder at them as they grow..." She smiled widely though. "You may save me from any tomatoes you wish though." She grinned at him and turned a pretty pink again.
"...I would love to hear some time." She said earnestly. "More from you...and your family if you're willing to share."

"Tomatoes do not stand a chance against me !" He laughed. "Backward, vile fiends !"
Oh, my. He quickly seemed to realize how silly (at least to himself) he had just looked, and turned that very familiar shade of red.
He would have made a tomato jealous, really.
"Ahhh well... Hm..." What could even be interesting. "My father is a lawyer... I think I told you that ?"

"My Family...is not nearly so glamorous" She said touching his arm again lightly to reassure him that truly, he was her hero against any tomatoes that might attack. "White collar, buisness men and women but, so ... so very warm and loving... else they wouldn't have taken me in." She beamed up at him and then reached into her pocket and pulled out a small kerchief...and tied it carefully around his upper arm.
"There... I proclaim you...knight, slayer of tomatoes." She winked and blushed.

"It's not all that cracked out to be, really." He said. "It was always really hard for us to do something as a family because there's always someone somewhere lurking to interview my mother..." It got bothersome, really. Especially for Daniel, who had spent his life wanted to hide from the cameras and the public eye.
At least his mother had no fame outside of Europe. Or if she did, it wasn't so wide-spread. A blessing in disguise, really.
He stayed just as red as he had been as he was proclaimed knight. Well, he figured he could handle defending her from tomatoes.

"I'm sorry.." She said with half a laugh in her voice as she ducked her head. "I'm being very silly, and here you are not feeling well."
She glanced back up with a more sympathetic gaze. "I should have thought of that too... do they ever leave her be?"

"No, no, it's perfectly fine !" He said. "Im feeling a little bit better already." Funny how just being with her...
Through, that reminded him of what Chris had told him. He still ask to ask her... The whole... sickness had delayed the plans slightly.
"They do, if we keep it very quiet where we are going... What we are doing... But it's hard. Some journalist are... less respectful than others." At least it didn't look like he hated all of them at a base. Through, given that his paternal uncle was one...
There was a 'thud' in the back on the apartment, but Daniel didn't seem to notice, as he continued to drink his soup. The door on the other side of the room opened without no one being seen - one would need to look down to notice exactly what was going on. This was, thankfully, no monster - just a white-furred cat with deep green eyes, around a year old, stretching and yawning.
Then, the cat noticed Ume. "Mrow ?" The cat padded her way to the girl's feet. "'Mrow ?" Who was this strange person ?
"Oh..." Daniel looked down. "I-I hope you're not allergic to cats..."
