Loki offered a quiet smile, and curled his arms around his legs.
~Can we get one thing straight? Well two things. One - I'm not. Straight, that is. Two... I don't think I'm a ghost. C'mere for a moment.~
He beckoned the boy with his fingers, and put just a small, small compulsion for Matthias to get a stethoscope from somewhere and give it to his son.
~I want to show you someth-... Stop looking like I'm going to bite, you. Honestly, I was only testing you earlier. And you passed. And about the Master thing? You really have no choice. I can't leave - or I die.~

Matthias paused momentarily, then let out a sigh accompanied by a nod. "He can stay here, if he must." he said, his tone calm despite his feelings on the subject. Did he want this entity staying here? Oh hell no. He wanted gone as soon as possible. But, it seems Loki had already welcomed the thing to stay. Wonderful. Just wonderful.
Hmm. A stethoscope could come in handy. But, the fae didn't even have to leave the room to know that there were none in the house. A pale hand slipped into his jacket, procuring a small notepad and pen. He was midway through scribbling the new addition onto the shopping list when he realized what he was doing. . . . why in blazes did he need a stethoscope for?

"Oh, you're not? I am," Loki blinked at his ghost--wait, the ghost was denying being a ghost? That was strange, he was sure ghost-Loki was a ghost. Even if he was a queer in-denial ghost, he was still Loki's ghost. "If you're not a ghost, what are you? Are you the Norse god? I think you are. You've got really handy powers." He was also pretty sure the ghost in question was simply a ghost in denial.
"What do you want to show me?" Loki asked suspiciously. Was this some sort of trick? Was the Loki-ghost trying to steal his heart again? "What do you mean, testing me? I passed? What kind of test was it? Dad! He says if he doesn't stay, he'll die! So we have to keep him. He can live in my bedroom. Did you know he's queer? He says he is. Maybe that's why he kissed me. Don't tell mom, okay? She might get mad at him."

Loki reached over, and dragged the other Loki over to him, grabbing his head, and physically placing the boy's ear over his chest... while blushing profusely. He had a heartbeat. A very fast, pounding heartbeat [partially owing to the fact that he was rather attracted to his new Master, and said Master was very, very close to him right now]. Ghost - in all forms of textbook or novel, did NOT have heartbeats. Which meant that Loki was alive.
~See?~ he asked Loki quietly. ~I'm not a ghost. I have a heartbeat. Now... umm...~
He looked down at the other, and blushed again. ~You are... very, very close. Would you mind.... backing... up? Just a little?~ He muttered something in his own language, untranslated. ~T'sai! M'rnaii s'dai m'seri..~

Matthias, after hearing his son's stream of questions, almost felt sorry for the invisible person. "Now, now, Loki. Do not bother him with so many questions. I am sure they will be answered in good time; no need to bother with them at the present." Was this for the ghost's benefit? Perhaps. But, for the most part, it was for his own good; Matth didn't want to hear his son giving the other Loki the twenty-questions routine.
Matthias arched one eyebrow, the only sign of surprise on his face as his son was literally dragged over to the bed and ... what was going on? "Loki...what's happening?" he asked, his tone even. It sounded more like a statement then a question.

Loki allowed himself to be dragged, confused. When he found himself with his head to the shadow's chest, he listened. Eyes widened. "You have a heart!" he exclaimed. "Why were you trying to steal mine? You didn't tell me what the test was! Okay, you're not a ghost. So why can't anyone but me see you? I still think you're a god. Aw, dad! I've got so many questions! And you know I hate waiting."
The fae paused, and stared at the shadow. "What's wrong with being close? It's not like we like each other or anything. Anyway, your heart's beating awfully fast. I think you're sick. You should rest. You might have a heartattack or something."

~I have a heart. Ergo I'm not a ghost. And I'm NOT a god... not anymore.~ His blush faded as the other backed away, and he rubbed his forehead lightly.
~Your father is probably going to want to kill me or exorcise me or something like that...~ he murmured. ~I don't blame him, but if he does that... It won't work, and it will REALLY, really hurt.~
Thinking for a moment, he fiddled with the blankets, and brushed back his hair so that it was a little more presentable. He adjusted his glove, and shook out his body, trying to get the aches and pains out of it.
~First, I wasn't trying to steal your heart, I was trying to scare you. You don't scare easy, apparently - and that was part of the test. And I'm not sure why no one else can see me... But... I can try something. It's just going to take some time... and you have to keep your dad in the room - without telling him what's going on... Good luck with that?~

"Yes, but patience is a virtue." Matthias pointed out, a small hint of amusement tinting his expression. True, it was a virtue he often didn't follow himself, but ah well. It was best to try and instill it in the next generation. He paused, waiting for his son's answer. And then not receiving on. A small frown crossed his face as his Loki ignored him. He wanted to know what was going on, and he wanted to know NOW.
"Well, I should go have a talk with your mother now. It's best someone tells her before she finds out on her own." Matthias said, turning back towards the door. Oh, how was he going to explain this? 'Oh, our son is talking to something I can not see or hear, but it's real.' She'd think they were both bloody bonkers. Oi, this was going to be a headache and a half.

"You are so," Loki insisted. "You've got to be. Maybe Odin just sent you down here and erased your memory or something? And what do you mean, you're not a god anymore? That means you were a god once! I was right! Hey Dad! I was right, he is a god! Well, he says he's not a god anymore. He wanted me to hear his heart and all. And dad wouldn't hurt you. You guys are friends now. Dad's the greatest."
"He's the reason I don't get scared easily. He's pretty scary himself--but he's never scared me."
He climbed off the bed and went over to Matthias. He wrapped his arms around the older fae and smiled up at him. "I love you, Dad." Getting Matth to stay in the bedroom? Easy. "Close your eyes. I have a surprise for you. It's a new way to frighten Milo. I was thinking it could involve Samantha, and some--" the boy paused for dramatic effect. "Nah, that wouldn't work. Got any ideas, dad? We can tell mom later! Please? I'll introduce Mom to him later."

Loki went silent for a good long while - not answering the other Loki's questions as he worked on forming a temporary bond with Matthias. And succeeded. His mind reeled as he locked into the part of Matthias' brain that controlled sight. He could only access a small part of it... well, it would have to do.
~There... I've unlocked your dad's mind to at least PART of me... Tell him to look at the bed. I'm on the edge of it.~

Matthias blinked as his son wrapped his arms around him. A small smile tugged at his lips as he patted the boy affectionately on the head. "I love you as well, son." he said. Now, what brought this on? "Frightening your brother isn't nice, and I will not tolerate squabbles in this house." He then paused, then nodded. "Alright. But, I think it would be best if we did it together. With her in her condition..." He needn't continue.
The black-haired fae paused, ears twitching. Something felt peculiar, something he couldn't put his finger on. Odd.

Matthias turned his head towards the bed slowly, eyebrows rising ever so slightly at the sight before him. Floating veins, a heart, lungs...but none of the flesh to cover it. He blinked a few times, testing to see if it was but an illusion of his eyes, but found it was not. He was really seeing what he thought he was. "Greetings." he greeted, bowing his head to the form politely.

Loki bowed in return, and clicked the other vision into place, so now he saw MORE than what his son saw. He saw Loki for who he really was. Blood red hair, a single brown glove, pale skin, soft gray eyes, and a pained expression under it all. The entire package seemed about... fourteen or fifteen. More than what his son could see... and more than what Loki himself could manage. Fae magic was helping to restore him to his real form - at least in Matthias' eyes.
In response, Loki just gave a small wave.
