A private thought entered Junko's mind in response to her teasing - but the voice with which the thought was sent was not Riley's. In fact, if one had to pinpoint was it sounded like, one might say it sounded like Seiji's.

If one was so inclined to notice.

You're looking at one, toots. Seiji's voice smoothly murmured out into Junko's mind, before Riley straightened up as she heard her name.

Sparrow, A pleased, smooth as silk reply publicly came, in Riley's own voice. What a pleasure it is to see you again. I am doing no worse or better than I previously was. Let us change that by seeing what the hands of fate will have in store.

She spun the wheel a second time, and then without really accounting for Nukpana's position as the booth's maintainer, she moved out of the way so that Junko could play - by sitting on the booth itself.

Her legs crossed demurely, and her hands rested on her knees.

Does Lady Luck favor me any further today? Or am I fated to be destitute?

It was strange, being spoken to straight into his mind, but not unpleasant; quite unlike any sensation Sparrow had felt before. He had not met any illithid's previously, so that was not unusual. The reaper in him wondered what her soul might look like, but he quickly squelched that thought. There was no reaping here at Amityville, no need for it. Instead he merely smiled at Riley.

"I'm quite pleased to hear that," he answered. Then, after a moment of glancing at the roulette wheel, added with some amusement "I am quite certain the hands of fate have already worked in your favor, Riley, especially if your grace and poise are any indication of it."

Stepping up to the table, Sparrow ducked his head, his eyes moving curiously over the roulette wheel. He hadn't ever played the game before, but it seemed simple enough. However, the ghoul in front of him had been first, and Sparrow was still trying to figure it out, so he stepped politely aside, hands folded neatly behind his back to let her roll first.

Th..that voice. It sent a slight shiver up Junko's spine and her cheeks flushed hot pink as she looked around for Seiji, only to realize that voice had been in her head. She turned a wide-eyed, pink cheeked stare at Riley, at a bit of a loss for words. That was a low blow! Since when could Riley copy other people's voices?! That was hardly fair! Junko cleared her throat and rubbed at one of her cheeks, looking down at the roulette wheel again. Some of her hair shifted itself to frame her face to keep onlookers from seeing her blush from the sides like a curtain, this time an action of her own will. The Mistress gave a dark chuckle, amused by how flustered the silly ghoul was just hearing her boilfriend's voice in her head. Silly, silly ghoul.

As she moved to spin the wheel she realized--crap! She was being so rude! She gasped and turned, her hand forcing the wheel to turn a little harder than she would have probably liked, and quickly bowed low in front of Sparrow. "Oh, Jack! Forgive my rudeness! I'm Junko! It's very nice to meet you~! Ah, you're new here, right? I think I..remember seeing you in um...oh! The math class of lies, right?" Since it wasn't really a math class it had to be dubbed the math class of lies. Junko stood up, still rather pink in the face as she smiled. Now it was just plain ol' embarrassment that had her blushing.

Junko looked to Riley again for a moment, a hand lifting so a bit of her hair could wrap itself comfortingly around one of her fingers. "That was a very mean trick, Riley." She pouted, puffing her cheeks a bit.

It seemed that with Ash, things started to pick up, the flow of traffic suddenly increasing exponentially as they chatted, others beginning to wander closer to take a look at the booth. He kept his eyes on them all, politely flicking away from the blonde ghoul for a few seconds to glance at them as they approached, greeting them with a surprising amount of charm for such a normally brutish character, somehow managing to alternate his attention between them. Every once in a while he would push off the table a bit to move to where someone had asked him a question, excusing himself in a low, surprisingly smooth voice to his previous conversation. And for the most part, things didn't seem overrun -- busy, he would say, but certainly under control. When he saw a flash of silver in the crowd, his attention wavered momentarily, his momentum slowing as he watched Shehk's retreating back, but there was no time for him to sulk, his expression growing dark for half a second before it was expertly masked, and he was back, grinning at something someone had said and underlining one of the subjects on the parchment.

As per usual, the skinwalker's eyes drifted to the new person who had approached, his head dipping up in acknowledgement of the dark-haired reaper who had sidled closer and offered a rather formal, polite greeting. That was unusual -- in this sort of situation, he was usually the one expected to be polite, normally offered informal and replied more so. In this instance, that felt wrong... maybe it was because it was a boil, maybe not, but instead Nuk responded how he normally would, shifting a bit at the table to offer his hand in a bro-esque handclasp. "Hey man, what's up?" He replied with a nod, gesturing a little towards the stuff on the table, "Let me know if you need anything."

And that was all he could offer to Sparrow. The crowd was steadily growing, and he had no time to chit chat too much, not when the boil had said so little to him to begin with. Besides, he'd noticed Junko approach not a second later, and the professional air about him, he couldn't resist the urge to say hi. And possibly tease her a bit. Smirking in her direction, he reached over to take a lock of her hair and tug it playfully, winking chastely at her. "I took this booth away from you, didn't you get the memo? Who else could have done this sewing work?" He teased, grinning broadly. At the Nyancat, his eyes almost widened before he caught himself, reminded of his own steadily-growing Nyancat army, snickering a bit at her, "Yeah, I have about five now, not sure what colors though. Don't let yours carry you away~" That was probably going to become an inside joke, now. Oh Paintball, such fond memories~

Nuk noticed Ash sign up for a few things from across the table, offering her a flashed 'Ok?' sign with his hand, making sure she was good before looking away. The next person to approach was a ghoul, and a rather busty one at that -- Natalia was one of those girls who probably had all the boils eyes on her at all times, and the skinwalker was no exception. For the second time that night his momentum slowed, and he stopped to get a good look, not failing to notice the heels, although she walked in them as if she owned them. He also noticed the way her eyes drifted over him, appraising him in a way that was... actually rather foreign to him, surprisingly, although was quickly becoming a fad of some kind. If he was embarrassed by it, however, he didn't show it -- instead, he leaned over the booth a bit in front of Junko and Natalia, planting his palms on the smooth, silky table cloth, getting a good look at her name tag.

"The Monster," he read, his own gold eyes lifting to hers -- so like his own, black sclera and all. He liked it. Waiting until Junko introduced him, he offered her his hand, palm up, grinning at her toothily. Riley was right -- there might have been something predatory about him, "Nice to meet you, Ms Monster."

But of course, then Riley showed up, and whatever smooth demeanor he had was immediately compromised. He just couldn't help himself around Riley -- there was always a spark of competition with her, and although she was the one person he nearly always yielded to, tonight was just not going to be one of those nights. This was his domain, and he was working the floor remarkably well. He was feeling extra cheeky today. "Go right ahead Riley -- it's a good thing I'm running it, or I'd have already done it for you. But you go ahead~" he half taunted, giving her a wink that might have been a little more than the normal teasing he usually threw in her direction. Except Junko was one step ahead, it seemed. Acting hurt at her comment, he clutched his chest, fisting the black material of his shirt in a heartwrenching motion.

"Ouch, Junnie-bee, ouch."

Riley bent slightly forward, resting her elbows against her knees while her hands clasped together, as she gave Sparrow a wry glance. Luck, dear friend, have not a thing to do with it. If I am charged with grace and poise, I assure you I am hard at work every moment for it. Her eyelids slit in a sly gaze, before she rose her hand to her face and acted out the impossible task of blowing a kiss to Junko.

Mean? Me? Why Junko, you have me pegged all wrong. I am innocent as the day they come, aren't I Nukpana?

Her eyes only turned to rest on him after she'd said his name, and she finally leaned back to bring herself eye to eye with him. In a private thought, which only he could hear, she murmured something that she was sure would bring him off of the pedestal he was currently standing upon while he ran this booth.

Don't be absurd, puppy. I haven't made a man out of you. Yet.

Junko was distracted from Riley's cruel teasing by Nukpana, watching the way he stared at Natalia. She frowned, looking from Nuk to Natalia and back again. Why was he leering at her like that? It seemed...wrong. He should only have been looking at Shehk that way, and no one else. She frowned for a moment while his attention was off her, the hair around her finger giving it a squeeze before releasing her finger. "This is Natalia, Nuk." Junko said gently, holding a hand out to the werelemur in introduction. She forced back a frown to instead smile, giggling at his banter with Riley. While they were busy with that she gave the roulette wheel another spin.

Ha! She won against the mighty Nuk~. Junko grinned sticking her tongue out at the skinwalker. "You'll get over it. It's what a real man would do." She said very matter-of-factly, even giving a nod before giving Riley a suspicious look. Oh no, Riley was very mean. She turned back to Nuk and held out her arms in the universal sign for 'I want a hug!' "Nuuuuk! Riley's being mean to meeee and lyiiiiing!" Junko whined childishly, making grabby hands at him. Comfort her! Do it!

"Like a shark," he agreed with Riley, resting his chin on his palm, elbow propped up on the table, "She just needs a deck of cards, and she'll break the bank."

He wouldn't doubt it, either. While she wasn't having all that much luck at roulette, it was a game of luck -- all you did was spin the ball and pray. There was no strength or cunning involved. To a demon whose mental prowess exceeded that of many other species, a game of cards was probably like paddling in a baby pool. He'd have to keep an eye on her, for real. Which wasn't very hard to do, considering how easy she was on the eyes. The skinwalker smirked a bit at this private thought, glancing at Riley as he did so as if to dare her to read that thought. They played such a dangerous game, and he secretly derived great pleasure from it. There was something enjoyable about fighting and flirting with her, and contrary to what other people thought, the two were actually not at all dissimilar.

There was a subtle flash in the gold of his eyes at her little quip, pupil constricting a little as the muscles of his shoulders visibly tensed a little, coiling under his skin. For the second time that night, things looked like they were about to get heated between Riley and himself, the corners of his lips curling just a bit. It took a great deal of self control for him not to jump her from across the table, grab her by the front of her shirt and haul her into a back room for a good pounding. Especially after that punch to the gut earlier -- she was fair game now. And he was itching to take her down a peg or two.

"Anytime, any place sugar," he murmured in a low, dangerous voice, somehow managing to retain the smoothness that was so at odds with his normal, gravelly tone. He was still on duty, and it wouldn't do to loose his cool in such a situation, especially in front of so many people.

It was Junko's comment that broke the tension between them, her innocent voice lifting to grab his attention. Closing his eyes to break his gaze with the pale one he had kept locked, he turned his head to grin at Junko, noticing her action and straightening, motioning for her to come behind the booth. "Tsk, Riley how could you?" He teased, waiting until the monster was beside him before wrapping his arms around her to give her a hug, "Did that mean ol' demon tease you?" he crooned, making a sad face at her, "You want me to scold her?"

Oh, that Nukpana. He was just too easy. Someone had once said the same thing about her - she brushed away the comparison quickly before she could feel some sort of compassion for the connection. Instead, she exploited it completely.

Okay. Your room, 6 o'clock. She nodded firmly, despite the fact that these words were said only to his mind, and then turned to Junko as if she hadn't just propositioned the skinwalker.

Both of her brows rose up high when she was due for scolding, and if she could have pouted, she would have. Oh, Junko, no. Don't let him punish me. Won't you please forgive me, instead of putting me in the hands of the vicious Nukpana? Who knows what he'd do.

She leaned in to roll the roulette table, looking as innocent as could be.

What was that? Junko blinked, her hair flattening and hanging limp for a moment as she looked between Nuk and Riley. Something was wrong, very wrong. Why were they at ends? She frowned a little, genuinely now, at the way Nuk was speaking to Riley; not that doing so wasn't allowed, it was just so confusing as to why he was doing it in the first place. Why was he..being so mean? Why were they so tense toward one another? She didn't like it, it felt wrong to see two people she cared for behaving like this. It was this, as well as the fact that she was just coming to adore the skinwalker anyway, that made her quickly wander around the table to hug Nukpana as he motioned for her to do so. Her arms wrapped around his middle and she put her head against his shoulder, pouting as childishly as she could manage and snuggling into the hug. Ha! She got big brother hugs and Riley didn't~.

"She did, it was so mean! She made me think Seiji was here." She pouted, trying not to giggle as he babied her. Silly Nuk! At the offer to scold Riley she paused, the hug tightening for a moment as she frowned; she knew they were toying along with her, but after seeing them just now she didn't want to encourage it even in jest. Junko forced a smile again, grinning at Riley as she lamented over her fate. "You have to earn my forgiveness." Junko stated, nuzzling her cheek against Nuk again and tucking her head underneath his chin. She looked serious for a moment.

"And stop acting weird at each other. It's...it's disconcerting." She mumbled, swaying slightly with the skinwalker she was refusing to let go of for the moment. The punching, the tones, the heavy atmosphere..it all needed to just go away. Shut up and eat a cookie.

Too bad, no cookies at this booth.

Riley was not making it easy for him at all. The fact that she was playing into it purposely was only fueling the fire, and he didn't have the will power to deny himself this, not when she was responding so well, not when she was meeting his challenge seriously, when every other time she brushed him off. He'd come to expect it, it'd made it so much easier for him, knowing she wouldn't rise to the bait, keeping their relationship pretty smooth up until this point. But the waters had started to pulse, just vibrating a little at first, a little posturing back and forth, finally escalating into something violent as her fist had met his stomach. Everything was different after that, everything was changing, and it wasn't so easy anymore, it was a challenge and it was a game and it was exciting and dangerous in all the right ways. Being friendly was fun, and ultimately, at the end of the day, he believed they really were friendly, nothing truly ever breaking their friendship. But baby when it's love if it's not rough it isn't fun. And he loved it.

Then again, or was she being serious at all?

Nukpana had to bite his tongue and remind himself that he was supposed to be being relatively professional, sorely tempted to say all sorts of things to the demoness as she made fun of him. Instead, he just gave her a look, smirking and finally laughing as he forced himself to shake off her words, relaxing as she and Junko teased back and forth. "Yeah, you'd better be afraid. When I get my hands on you..." he trailed off, noticing how Junko felt uncomfortable despite how light he had purposely made his voice. He really did feel bad, worrying her.

"Don't worry Juno, we're just playing~" he replied, giving her a squeezes before tugging on her hair like an older brother might. "Now go spin the wheel again and show Riley how it's done."
PostPosted: Sun Jun 12, 2011 3:29 am

Junko wished, and Riley granted. She curled her legs up underneath her, and acted the picture of poise and businesslike demeanor. Junko, whatever you wish of me, consider it done. She saluted the two, and sat patiently atop the booth table, waiting for Junko to show her exactly how it was done.

Only once, when she was sure Junko wasn't looking, did her eyes flicker to Nukpana and slit. She wasn't done - not by a longshot. But Junko held the reigns, here.

Riley probably ate all the cookies anyway.

"Really? Well..oka--AH!" Junko squeaked and tilted her head back to follow the tugged hair, whining but otherwise not seeming too terribly bothered other than whining a drawn out 'Nuuuuuuk!' Before? Oh, She and Junko would have both taken serious offense to something like this. Now? Well...as long as it wasn't being cut...they'd let him get away with this for now. Though She still wrapped a good length of hair around the offending arm while Junko turned away to look down at the wheel and then at Riley. Oh ho! A challenge! Junko, not paying any attention whatsoever to the fact that She was currently holding Nuk's arm hostage and waving it around while She muttered at him about manhandling Junko's hair after he'd been warned not to touch it. Dumb boil!

But even Riley was playing along, and she couldn't help but relax again. Good, good. "Don't make me extend my no frowning rule to you two. I'll find a way to make it apply to you, Riley." Junko told the mindflayer as she gave the roulette table one more try.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 12, 2011 3:56 am

The skinwalker patted Junko on the shoulder as she pulled away, about to turn away a little to watch when he realized the ghoul's hair was wrapped around his arm, feeling it tug and try to move him forcefully, his expression warping to one of first bewilderment, then to mild annoyance. Making a face, he shook his arm a little as if that would work, reaching up to tug a little on the hair, realizing She was talking to him and scowling at her, trying to take back his arm. He'd had trouble with Her before -- they hadn't exactly gotten off to the best start, but you know, when did ANYONE seem to get along with Her? Since then, things had gotten better, or so he would have liked to think, but occasionally he found She just did NOT like him.

"Rggrrr get. Off you..."

Grumbling, he ignored Riley's eyes on him, if only to stay sane, instead trying to find something to pry her hair off, grabbing a snake pen and cursing under his breath when it wasn't the least bit effective.

Because it seemed all too easy to ignore the fact that Nukpana was slowly being attacked by Her, Riley leaned in and took a turn on the roulette. Like this, Junko? She asked quietly. Perhaps you can be my lucky charm, this time around.

She certainly wasn't Nukpana's, with the way he was being wrapped up.

As for smiling.. she thought about it for a second, before her cheeks lifted up much the same way they would if she had a mouth to smile. It was a cheerful expression, even if it did lack lips.
