Cian flicked his tail. He wasn't too sure for only a moment, that she was ok. But he decided she would be. Carefully Cian tested a small trot with his side. It tugged slightly but he wasn't about to remind her. With a toss of his head he walked back over to her side.
"Ok, lets walk..." He nudged his nose under her jaw and snuffled a moment. Giving her a quick smile. he trotted a bit ahead. "Or... trot..." He twitched an ear playfully and tossed his head forward. "This way!"
He took half a moment to see if she was following before he trotted down a deer path through the woods. Calling back he smirked."Race you to the clearing." He would stop before he lead her into the open... because he could see she was still unsure... but with those wings... he couldn't understand why she wouldn't want room to really stretch them.

Yanamari watched as Cian trotted. He didn't seem to be feeling any pain from his injury or at least wasn't showing any so that gave her a great amount of relief. Besides, she had seen the wound, it hadn't been too bad, a small cut at most. He had been lucky for she knew how much damage she was capable of inflicting when in that mindset. But enough of that, if Cian was willing to forget it happened than so should she. Giving her head a slight shake to rid herself of those thoughts Yanamari couldn't help but smile at Cian's small gesture.
"Prepare to lose!" She called out to him before kicking into a trot and chasing after him. Yanamari was quick to close the gap between them but didn't make a move to pass him immediately. Instead she just happily trotted beside him along the path, which wasn't too wide but she managed. After a short distance she gave a toss of her head and poured on an extra bit of speed pulling ahead of Cian. "You're not even trying!" She mocked him and gave a flick of her splayed tail. It was so nice to have fun, Yanamari hadn't had fun since...well to be perfectly honest she couldn't think of a time she had had any fun before meeting Cian.

Cian tossed his head and kicked up his pace. He didn't mind her being ahead of him... but this was a race."I think not!" He pulled up to her side again and matched her pace for a mile or more. When the trees were only two miles away he called out. "Youre right on one count... Im not trying yet!" He pulled out ahead of her by pouring himself into a gallop.His side didn't hurt anymore,and he couldn't think of anything else he would rather be doing right now.
He jumped over a fallen tree and laughed carelessly.. For those few moments he was flying. He landed and pulled up to paw the air in victory. He only forgot for a moment that he was racing to the tree line which was still about a mile ahead.

Yanamari couldn't help but laugh as Cian put on a burst of speed. Too much of her life had been spent hiding and running away from others that it was so refreshing to actually be out with another and having fun to boot. Up to this moment Yanamari didn't know that she possessed a bit of a competitive spirit and so when Cian took off she tossed her head, let him have a momentary lead before racing after him. She was only a few strides behind him when he jumped the fallen tree and then suddenly pulled to a stop. It took her taking the drastic measure of unfurling her wings and giving them a flap to avoid crashing into Cian as he pranced around in what looked like victory of the race. Landing a couple feet away from him Yanamari hit the ground running, quickly folding her wings against her side as she went.
Glancing over her shoulder Yanamari yelled back. "You haven't won yet! But nice try!" And she let out another laugh before racing off, hopefully to victory, but even if she did lose this day was going well now and that's all that mattered to her.

Cian's front hooves hit the ground as his ears perked forward watching her run off. And he grinned. She seemed so happy. But she was going to win... Cian laughed and took off after her. There was no way he was going to catch her... but he could at least give her a run for her money.
"Maybe not... but you haven't either." He galloped full out hooves thrumming the earth. He watched as she hit the edge of the trees. He slowed to a trot. and came to a stop at the line. "Ok,ok...you win..."
His eyes glittered. He was so happy. Running and racing. With a beautiful mare. With a glance into the open he hesitated waiting to gauge her reaction.

This felt great. The wind blowing back her mane, her victory only a few strides away and she could head Cian's laughter and hoof beats right behind her. But then suddenly there were no more trees and Yanamari skidded to a quick stop. Her victory was instantly hidden by the fact that she now stood in the open. It was the thing she hated most. Her breath was heavy, partially from running through the forest and partially out of fear. But had she not been having fun only moments before? Had she not agreed to this shortcut knowing that Cian would be there with her? Did she not feel safe around Cian? Well the answer to all of those were yes. Taking a deep breath Yanamari glanced over at Cian. Yes, his presence was calming and she smiled despite her fears. "Told you I'd win."
But then she took a step closer to him, and closer to the trees for that matter. By now her breathing had nearly leveled out again and her heart was no longer racing from fear and adrenaline. She would be okay, as long as she had this moment to adjust and accept this then things would be fine. Glancing out at the meadow before them Yanamari mentally prepared herself for this. "Best not waste our shortcut by standing around." Then she turned her gaze to Cian and waited for him to be the first to go, she wanted him to lead so that she could follow.

He saw her hesitate and then move on. He had never been so proud in his life. He bumped into her side playfully. "Yeah...you did." He buried his nose behind her ear and nuzzled lightly "But you will always win when it comes to me..." As he pulled back to look at her he felt his heart clench slightly.
"Come on... Lets take it at a trot" He wanted to get her past this open stretch quickly... but he didn't want her running... Because then the demons would start to chase her... it was in a demon's nature after all. He waited a half a moment before taking a step... He would stay right by her side the whole way across.

Yanamari was shocked and delighted by his words. Never had anyone said anything like that to her and it made her chest swell just hearing it. Turning her head Yanamari gave him a nuzzle but honestly couldn't find any words to say in return, hopefully her gesture and the look in her eyes told him what she wished she could say. She wanted to thank him and tell him that he had made her life so happy ever since they met even if it was only a day ago. The idea of crossed the open area at a trot was certainly appealing, it meant they would cross it faster than at a walk but she wouldn't be forced to run as if her life depended upon it either. When he took that first step so took hers only a second later. With Cian at her side Yanamari had all the confidence in the world to cross this open area without a second thought. And as they took off at a trot she reached over a nipped at his neck.
Better than anything they seemed to cross it in no time at all and Yanamari felt such a relief but also a boost to her confidence that she had just done a feat that would otherwise be next to impossible for her to do. This was the first step in a new direction, in a new way of life and Cian was the grounding force for that. "Which way now?" She asked as they stepped into trees once more.

Not even half way through their trot cian felt her n** at him and he laughed. It loosened him up enough to relax a bit... She was fine. As they hit the other side of the clearing he nipped back... low as to miss the scales... he could only imagine how those would hurt to chew on.
"Straight on till morning..." He grinned. "Its really not too much farther... about an hour walk... just this way." He tossed his head farther down the trail. Obviously a deer had just come through.
He started forward again. "You will know it when you see it."

Yanamari couldn't believe they were so close already. It felt like they had only been traveling an hour at most. She supposed this proved the old saying 'Time flies when you are having fun' and she had certainly been having fun with Cian today. It was such a nice feeling to be carefree, to completely forget about her insecurities and fears and just live life like it should be. Yes, this is exactly what a real life should feel like and just that thought alone made Yanamari smile, not to mention thinking back on what he had said only moments ago.
"Let's walk then, no need to rush when I have such great company to be with." Much as she wanted to reach their destination and see just where he was taking her, she did want to make this journey last a bit longer. To really enjoy walking side by side, and sure they would still be together once they arrived but by then they would both need some rest before truly enjoying where they were and what they would do. Giving his chin a bump with her nose Yanamari started towards the trail making sure to keep her gait slow so she could truly enjoy this moment.
