Being that I work in grocery retail, and I live in a kind of small town I tend to get this a lot. I either resemble people my customers know, or many a time I get the "have I met you before?" here and there. So when I get asked this question I list off all the places they could have seen me, (school, my work, places I tend to frequent like diners or something.) and if they haven't then I just shrug it off to "I must have that kind of face then".

I know two girls that look sort of like me. Plus, one guy that not only looks like me but has my last name. I've been mistaken for both girls and yes, even the guy. "Damn dude, you lost some weight."..no..I don't even know you but I'll let him know you were thinking of him stare
I tell people I look like my dad.. My guy even told me once, "You're a very attractive woman..then I met your dad and now that's all I can think about. You're dad's a very attractive woman."
Oh God..I was working as an elf once and someone brought in a dog to sit on Santa's lap. Poor thing looked just like my manager. Perfectly curled beard, same scruffy hair..even his smile was as white and the lovely large lower lip was the same color. Everyone at work told him how much he looked like the dog. I even laughed about it while we were in the bus together...it was hard to remove that image from my mind. The next day he came in with trimmed hair. I felt so bad, he's such a nice guy..fun too. I can't forget something so precious.

I think we all have at least one Doppelganger somewhere in the world, someone who looks enough like us to be confused with us, I also think that some of us have more than one, being confused with someone else also could be from the way we and they carry ourselves or even our speech patterns, this should be taken as a compliment. especially if you are one of mine rofl

Truth be told it rarely happens to me, and usually when someone comments on the "have we met before" thing it we really did but my oft faulty memory bites me in the buttocks.

Somewhat related to this, I just saw someone at the grocery store yesterday that looked like she could have been the long lost sister of two of the geezers in this guild. The similarities in facial features were just so uncanny. She probably would have thought I was a creep for staring had she noticed me looking, but I couldn't help it! It was just so bizarre.

In real life somehow my brother's friends think we look alike. My brother and I have different features as I have more of a Japanese looking face and my brother has more of a Chinese looking face. Hell I have unique eyebrows that have a pointed arch at the beginning of each. And yet they always say that. My friends and those who are really close to my brother know we aren't alike in the least except the way we act. Both of us have stern, cold auras that we use to ward off annoying people.
Another time my cousin thought I was at the mall since she saw someone who looked like me. She even called me to ask if I was at the mall. It was quite weird.
As for on the phone apparently my brother, mother, and I all sound the same on the phone when we answer and talk when we receive a call.
